Fiction (Adult), General Fiction (Adult), Mystery, Thriller

We begin April 1968 on a beach at Barra de Navidad in Jalisco. Tod is a writer in his late 20s and his wife is Linda. They meet up with Nick and his girlfriend Frankie. The two couple live next to each other in apartments. One morning Tod wakes up naked with a dead Frankie beside him. He has no idea what happened and his wife and Nick missing.

The story bounces from past to present frequently as takes place over two weeks. The author makes the reader feel as if they are on the journey with Tod. It is a gritty story with sex, drugs, alcohol, and violence. When I got to the end, I never saw it coming. Bravo.

Nice travelogue of Mexico but not a story that grabbed my attention. The story seemed to lack impetus and direction and it was difficult to become involved.

Not my kind of read, the synopsis didn't match what I thought it was going to be
