Awesome Life Lesson
Andrew gives great examples of how it is so easy for the good to be negatively over shadowed. He teaches the readers an amazing life lesson that there is awesome all around us if we just pay attention.
The illustrations, done by Bhagya , pull you into the pockets of time in Andrews day. The picture appeal really synchronizes the visual elements with the scenes lesson seamlessly.
Considering the release timeframe of this book I think it would make a wonderful classroom gift right after school has started for the year or right before winter break for the new semester jitters. It’s such a universal message that this is hands down a year round purchase. This would also complement as a great home addition to read on the tougher days for reset of your little one’s perceptions.
I received a copy of this book from Ellen Javernick (Author) and Bhagya Madanasinghe (Illustrator). I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

"Awesome of the day" has an important message that not just children should live by. A lot of times we only see the negative things that happen to use, meanwhile a lot of good things are happening simultaneously but we are too focused on the bad ones. That's also what happens to Andrew in this story. He focuses on the bad grade or that he twisted his ankle and doesn't acknowledge what else is happening around him, until his sister tells him to look out for the awesome things happening to him.
The book is also very beautifully illustrated. The soft colors bring the story and the beauty of it to live.
Thank you to Netgalley and Two Lions for this EARC!

I absolutely loved this book! Looking for the awesome in each day is a powerful message about building a positive mindset. Not everything goes your way but life is a lot more bearable when you can find the silver lining in every cloud! As a mom, the last page tugged on my heartstrings.
Bhagya Madanasinghe illustrated the book and her animated style perfectly captures the emotions Andrew and his friends/family experienced.
Thank you to the publisher and author for this ARC!

Awesome of the Day, by author Ellen Javernick and illustrator Bhagya Madanasinghe, is a delightful and colourful storybook with a gentle message of positivity from which both children and adults will benefit.
In the book, Andrew gets stuck on the bad parts of his day, and makes sure everyone knows about them. His sister challenges him to look on the awesome side of life, and throughout the book he grows to see more and more awesome. This helps him to deal with the awful things that happen, even on really awful days. Javernick uses lilting prose that is fun to read aloud, and it is complimented beautifully be softly coloured and lively illustrations.
Be sure to keep an eye on the background of the artwork, as pets, wild animals, and children add to the fun of the book.
I will definitely be buying a copy of this book for my granddaughter when it comes out!
Thank you for the ARC of #AwesomeoftheDay to #NetGalley - reading it put some awesome into my day!

Thank you for the ARC. This story had such a great message for kids to always look at the “awesome” part of the day. Things happen, we make mistakes but we learn from them and still see the positive in things. The pictures were well done.

Awesome of the Day is a great book for kids to teach them to see the positive in everyday. As kids, things are going to go wrong - you messed up on a test, forgot your homework, get into a fight with your friends or siblings, get the wrong hair cut, the list goes on and on. And at a young age, these negative experiences can be overwhelming and weigh heavily on a child's mind and heart. In this story, Andrew's sister Amelia encourages him to try and find one positive thing about each day. At first it's hard, but by the end of the book he sees more positives in the day than negatives. And isn't this a great foundation for children's mental health! I thoroughly enjoyed this children's book and the illustrations were fantastic! Even as an adult I need the reminder to see the positive in each day.
My thanks to the author, Two Lions Publishing and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely loved this children's book about looking for the positive in every day. It's always easy to see the negative and to complain, but this book shows children the importance and the ease to look for the positives too. Early readers and listeners will be able to understand this story and gain positivity from it and an important lesson from the story. The illustrations are also great! Thank you for the opportunity to read and view before the release date!

Andrew finds no joy in anything all day every day. It's always gloom and doom. Amelia, his big sister finally tells him that he is always unhappy and needs to think of something joyful at least one time of day. It is hard for Andrew at first, but he finally begins to see things in a different light and even his bad days become better.
This book is such an inspiration, especially during a time when people are having a hard time finding joy. It's nice when someone reminds you and cares enough to help see it in the simple things in life.
Awesome of the Day is perfect for kids or anyone who needs a bit of affirmation that things will work out and be ok. The pictures are bright, colorful, and beautifully illustrated. This will be a book I will be using with my students as an activity.

The illustrations are absolutely stunning, bursting with color and detail that complement the story beautifully. The storytelling is engaging and age-appropriate, with just the right balance of excitement and heart. Thank you for the advanced copy!

This sweet, relatable children's book speaks to the heart of what we all need to be better at: finding JOY throughout our days. It's not without hard days and things going wrong, but choosing to not let that define our days as a whole. This was a great story, visually engaging & fun to read. Ultimately, even on a hard days, helping us remember the greatest part of our AWESOME in this life is who we share it with!

I was wondering when I started this book why so doom and gloom, but Amelia quickly helped Andrew turn his outlook around. I think this life lesson is a grand one to be taught. It is so easy to see the negative and harp on those ideas. But to try and train the brain to see the positive in daily thoughts is much more effective to a positive outlook on life. Every kiddo should read/be read this book.
