This was...weird. I can't think any other word to describe it. Not necessarily bad weird but weird. I didn't read blurb so I first though Tom was a boy and I was so confused until I got it. Also there were many dead character and I found myself sometimes losing the thread of the story and having to go back and forth to understand.
With that being said, I liked writing style even though some sentences felt a bit too choppy. I actually liked some weird aspects like talking to a fish that she thinks is her dead sister and I liked how this book dealt with grief in ways I haven't seen before. Also, teen pregnancy was not something I expected (again, didn't read the blurb) and I'm happy how supportive her grandparents were and how Jonah and her stayed just best friends, something that is rare in young adult books. The ending left me a bit confused but overall reading experience was pleasant.
