I’m pretty sure my husband is sick of hearing me say how good this book is as I was reading it, but he’ll understand come June when I thrust a copy in his hands and tell him to get started.

Sophia and Alexandria are sisters both claiming the other brutally murdered their father. Eddie Flynn, one of the sisters attorneys and a recurring character for Steve Cavanagh, is a character I could read more and more about. I’m so anxious to dive into more of the Eddie Flynn books.

This book is everything you want a thriller to be. So many moments that have you questioning everything, flipping sides, wondering “WHAT WILL HAPPEN?!”, and reading the “SHE” chapters completely engrossed and terribly disturbed.

Will absolutely be preordering a physical copy of this book and shouting recommendations for it at whoever will listen (and those who aren’t asking too).

A top read for 2025 and I’m positive it will remain that way despite it being only March 11th.

Thrilling from page one Fifty Fifty had me turning pages non stop. I love the use of two sisters accusing each other of the same murder. This book kept me guessing the whole time. The chapters were spaced out perfectly. This is a great Eddie Flynn story and look forward to the rest in the series.

A classic “whodunit”, this novel follows sisters Alexandra and Sofia, whom both call 911 to accuse each other of murdering their father Frank. As Eddie and Kate step in as their respective lawyers, the truth unravels in a brilliantly structured narrative. I loved how the story is broken into distinct voices: the sharp perspective of the lawyers, the mysterious “she,” and Frank’s own chilling journal entries. This layered approach kept me guessing until the end!

When I requested to read this book, I didn't realize it was part of a series. That's fine though because I was quickly and without it being over done brought up to speed which I loved! The problem though is that you're going to want to read the others if they're anything like this book!

Yes I figured out who it was honestly on the first page, that's not to say you will though. I've read countless mysteries and who's done it books that it's easy to make an educated inference. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I love the little hints that kept coming through to make you second guess yourself, it was so well done! The twists and turns and thought were so well done as well, it's been one of the best adult thrillers I've read in a really long while! I loved the ending that was amazing! There's so much more I'd love to say but it would give so much away!

My only issues I had with this book are ones I think might be fixed when this edition comes out, and that's a handful of spelling errors and the constant back and forth or interchange in the lawyer Theo Levy's name, it was kind of confusing. Other than that I really liked this book and I can't wait to try another one!

I love the Eddie Flynn books. They are my go to gifts too for any fam of James Patterson or John Grisham.
This book keep me guessing until the end. I thought I knew which sister but the more I read the more I would second guess myself. Could not put it down

This is the fifth book in a series written by a prolific author, but it was my first experience reading Steve Cavanagh. I liked the mystery of this one, which centers on the death of a father, with his two daughters blaming the other one for his murder. Eddie, the lawyer for one of the sisters, and a previous criminal himself, investigates what actually happened to the man who died. Legal thrillers are just not really my subgenre, I think. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the writing or the main character we’re following. Eddie is too smart, too aware, too instinctual - his characterization just left me feeling cold. The writing was a bit too on-the-nose, as well. I’m being too critical, because this does exactly as it advertises - it’s a legal thriller with twists and turns aplenty. I just need to stop trying to make legal thrillers happen for me.

Steve Cavanagh is a favorite of mine. I just finished Fifty Fifty and as I expected, it was a five star read. Pick this one up!

This was a fun one! The second I saw the premise on NetGalley, I knew I had to request it:

I enjoy legal thrillers but man, every time I read one I'm so grateful I do not work in any capacity with the law. What a convoluted mess that is. I liked both lawyers in this and you get each of their POVs. The sisters are both interesting, it's hard to tell which one to believe and will keep you guessing until the end. This is my kind of book!

If you're like me and had no idea this is actually part of a series, don't worry - it can be read as a standalone. And now I have to read the first 4 books in the Eddie Flynn series, as if my TBR needs any fattening.

Recommended for those who like fast-paced legal thrillers and whodunnits.

Eddie Flynn is one of favorite characters.Two sisters on trial for murder each one blaming the other one. This was good as you get the killers perspective and you just weren’t sure which sister was telling the truth and which one was lying. This was action packed and full of twists to keep you guessing until the end. I love Harry and Eddie working together and this whole series.

Clear your schedule, silence your notifications, grab your favorite drink (be it a fine scotch, your poison of choice, or even a protein shake—whatever makes you happy), and tell that talkative husband of yours who keeps insisting you read too much (yes, I’m looking at you, dear husband) that you're diving headfirst into this brilliant, twisty mystery. Because trust me, from the very first page, you’ll be obsessively trying to figure out: which sister is the real devil?

The plot is absolutely gripping and begs to be adapted into a series—it could easily be as successful as Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent. The premise?
