Another excellent addition to the Eddie Flynn series, Fifty Fifty delivers everything I’ve come to expect from Steve Cavanagh—sharp writing, smart twists, and high stakes drama.
Told through multiple POVs, this legal thriller had me second guessing everything. Steve truly masters the art of misdirection, and the plot is as gripping as ever. I devoured this one and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is a smart, fast-paced legal thriller that keeps you on edge from start to finish. The story centers around two sisters, both accusing the other of murdering their father—and only one is telling the truth. Eddie Flynn, the charismatic con-man-turned-lawyer, is back in top form, juggling courtroom drama, clever twists, and high-stakes tension. The dual defense plot adds an extra layer of intrigue, and Cavanagh masterfully keeps the reader guessing right up to the final reveal. While some moments stretch believability, the sharp dialogue, tight pacing, and satisfying payoff make this a standout in the series. A solid 4-star read for anyone who loves courtroom suspense with a twist.

Thank you Netgalley and Atria Books for allowing me to read Fifty-Fifty as an ARC.
Steve Cavanagh really knows how to keep you entertained! Two sisters accusing each other of murder. Both completely unhinged in their own way. The characters are easy to connect to. I really enjoyed Eddie’s character. The plot was a fun mystery with twists and turns along the way. Hard to put down type of read.
I’d recommend reading this one. Easy fun read!

The synopsis snagged me. A bajillionaire father found dead, both of his daughters accusing each other. Which one is telling the truth - the calm socialite with her life together, or the frazzled, mentally unwell sister who is just trying her best?
I do wish that this had been a bit more ambiguous. I want to be left in the dark so much that I don't even think I know what's going on. With a story like this, I feel like that would've made this just a smidge more fun. But overall, I really enjoyed this courtroom thriller. I can appreciate that both attorneys were dedicated to doing the right thing, and that the younger female attorney was not vilified. I finished this in just a few sittings and will be sure to pick up more from Cavanagh!

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for this eARC, for the re-release publishing June 3, 2025.
This was my first book in the Eddie Flynn series, and although I don’t have the background of other characters, I definitely can see myself picking up more books in this series.
The premise right away was super intriguing: two sisters convicted of murdering their father, and both of them accusing the other. I can honestly say I didn’t know where this book was going to go the entire time, and it truly kept me guessing until the end. I kept trying to guess where I thought the twists would happen, and I would have a moment of feeling clever like I figured it out, and then got it wrong every time - which I loved.
I really liked Kate’s character as well. I’m curious if there’s more to why she kept having internal dialogue critiquing other’s clothing, etc., because it happened a few times and I honestly found it a bit out of character for her. It felt almost more judgmental than it needed to be.
The ending wrapped up the story well, and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh is an electrifying legal thriller that had me hooked from the very first chapter. Fast-paced, smart, and full of tension, this book delivers a courtroom drama unlike any other. If you enjoy smart, high-stakes thrillers with morally complex characters and clever twists, Fifty Fifty is a must-read. Steve Cavanagh continues to prove he’s one of the best in the genre. Great read would highly recommend!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A thrilling page-turner from start to finish!

I really enjoyed this one. I especially loved the twist at the end. I don’t think this was my favorite Eddie Flynn novel, but it’s definitely a great, quick read!

Steve Cavanagh does it again. This book was a wild ride and will keep you guessing till the very last page. If you haven’t read Steve Cavanagh what are you waiting for?

Another solid read by Steve Cavanagh!
This is the second book of this I’ve read, and it was just as good as the first one. His books are always so well paced, with engaging characters, and twists that I never see coming until it’s too late!
When I got to the 75% point of this book, I literally couldn’t stop reading because I just had to know how it was going to end. I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor as I write this. If you’re looking for a good court room drama, this is it!!

Thank you so much for this ARC!
I have not read a legal thriller in quite a while but knew this was going to be right up my alley. Turns out - one of my favorite books of 2025!
Interesting storyline, fun courtroom scenes and characters I REALLY liked. This book was fast paced and addictive and I am so happy to read from the acknowledgments that there is more Eddie Flynn on the way.
Kate Brooks was a great character, smart, confident and truly human. I rooted for her and the ending blew me away.
I also had fun trying to solve the case, my predictions were wrong, seemed too easy!

Seriously so good and I couldn’t guess the twist! I felt that there was good character development and a great plot and twist. I love books just like this one! 4 stars for me! Highly recommend!

Very heavy on the law/courtroom side of the story which I really enjoyed. The storyline had me hooked right from the first page!

Like all of Steve Cavanagh’s books this had me hooked from page 1 all the way to the end. Eddie Flynn expands his circle in this book. In the end every character has something to bring to the team. Very hard not to give away any spoilers but I really enjoyed the multi person point of view and not knowing who “she” was that was continuing the game between the two estranged sisters on trial.

A dead father and two sisters pointing the finger at each other. I had a feeling I knew who had done it and ended up being right. I wasn't a fan of the book. I had to push myself to finish. I did enjoy the court scenes.

This legal thriller was so good! I really enjoyed Eddie’s character. I was intrigued from the very beginning. I didn’t read this book was part of a series, but that is okay because it didn’t affect my reading ability or the overall greatness of this book!

𝑭𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒚 𝑭𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒚 had great twists and turns and keep me guessing until the end. It’s told from the perspective of both defense attorneys, Eddie and Kate, and the guilty sister- simply titled She. She is a dangerous psychopath responsible for many murders. But with both sister claiming the other killed their father, there’s a 50/50 chance that a killer could be set free. I was hooked the whole book wanting to find out how it all ended. Another 5 ⭐️ legal thriller from Cavanagh for me!

I didn't get around to reading this book until recently. It was a great palette cleanser between my fantasy books! I finished this book in one sitting. Very good read!

Steve does it again another thriller that has you guessing. Two sisters accuse eachother of murder. You feel like you are there alongside the investigation

I really enjoyed this book, but I enjoy anything written by Steve Cavanaugh. This book kept me up with twists and turns and always trying to guess which sister was the real culprit.
A fantastic read, that kept me up late into the night to get to the end.

I found this book on Netgalley and was familiar with the author, but hadn't read anything by him before. After being approved, I realized I actually had a copy of the book on my bookshelf. So I'm assuming there's another edition of this book coming out later this year. I also didn't realize when I requested the book that it was the 5th in the Eddie Flynn series.
Despite not having read the previous books in the series, I feel like the book could be read as a standalone. It seemed like any background information readers needed was repeated in the story. (Though, since it's the only one in the series I have read, there's a chance I could be wrong.)
I've been reading a lot of thrillers lately, and one thing I look for is having a plot that's not easily predictable, and a good twist that I don't see coming, but still makes sense. Fifty Fifty was a solid read, though I did predict what would happen pretty early on in the book. It didn't hinder the enjoyment, but I didn't feel like the plot was very original. It's still worth the read, especially if you enjoy court room thrillers.
