This picture book has intricate, detailed illustrations, and it describes how the main character cleans the homes of different woodland creatures and fairy tale characters. There is a cutaway illustration of each home, and there are seek-and-find activities throughout.
The writing is occasionally a bit clunky, and there isn't really a story. The illustrations are the main draw for this book. However, some readers will find the seek-and-find activities frustrating. It's occasionally unclear from the description which things in the illustrations count and which don't, and there are many times where the author doesn't give a set number of things to look for, so people won't know if they're done or not.
Also, parents should know that even though the illustrations are cute and cozy overall, illustrations of homes belonging to sinister characters include scary and gross details like animal bones stashed away in different places. Although these details fit the carnivorous characters, they may upset highly sensitive little kids.

Charley Mouse goes around cleaning houses of different fairy tale characters. The illustrations are colorful and vibrant. But I can see how some kids and parents might think they are a little creepy. They have bones and eyes and things within the houses that Charley just works around.
Its a cute book though, Charley is a cute character and I liked seeing the interpretation of these fairy tale characters.
Thanks for a copy of this book.

Who doesn't love an I Spy element in a new, wonderful story? We all enjoyed helping Charley Mouse clean the house.

Charley Mouse is a professional house cleaner who loves cleanliness and order. Charley Mouse Cleans House follows Charley as she spends a week cleaning the homes of some of the residents of the Wild Wood and Magical Forest. Most of the residents are characters from fairytales, so it is fun to see a sneak peek into what their homes and lives could look like. Each character's home includes an item that the reader is supposed to search for which was really neat. Unfortunately, some of the pages only say to search for "all" or "many" and it was very frustrating for my children to not have a specific number and know that they had found them all. The illustrations are gorgeous, and I love the art style, but some of the elements were a bit off-putting. While my children are well aware of the fairytales and the fact that many animals are carnivores, it was still a little disconcerting to see all of the bones and trapped animals/people in such pretty artwork. Again, this isn't something that we shy away from, so it wasn't necessarily a problem, but it was a bit jarring and took away from the otherwise warm and cozy feeling of the book.

This book... THIS. BOOK! I just adore Charley Mouse Cleans House - so much so, I'll be purchasing a physical copy for my daughters and another one for myself! The gorgeous illustrations invite you inside, while the text wraps you up in a warm, cozy blanket and hands you a cup of tea. I would love my very own little Charley helping me clean and tidy up around the house. Brilliant!

This book has a fun surprise, we didn't realize it was a find and seek kind of book. My daughter (5) was very happy to have the interactive aspect of finding different things to help Charley Mouse. Her only issue was that some pages just say "a lot" of something or or "all" of something and she wasn't sure if she'd found them all. The art is super cute, the finding pages had lots of fun things to spot as you were looking for the specific item. The story surrounding the finding game was very sweet, and seeing different fairy tale characters about was fun. My daughter was a little sad that the story ended so soon, but was happy to go through it again and see what else we could find in the messy houses. We read this ebook through Netgalley.

What a cute little book about a mouse who loves to clean houses. She sure has her job cut out for her, because some of the houses she cleans are grungy! Kids don't only learn about cleaning, they also get to look for certain items and count. This part reminded me of "where's Waldo".
The illustrations were adorable. In all a lovely book.

Netgalley ARC - I mostly loved this - the detail in the illustrations is simply amazing and the games/clues are fun. HOWEVER, I think some of the freakiness needed to be toned down for fox, wolf, and dragon, especially with the fox!!! He did not need to have a combined bedroom-prison with caged birds being held prisoner! and the dragon keeps ladies! I know we're doing fairy tales in all their weirdness but it could have been more interesting if the "scary predator" animals had more depth than being obsessed with meat and being bad.

I received an ARC of this children's book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a really cute book. The pictures are adorable and so is the text!

This is a book about a little female mouse who cleans the houses of her woodland creature friends. There are some funny little stories and some interactive activities for kids.

When I read this with my son, he giggled throughout. I as a parent didn't love the dark undertone of the book, but I adore the illustration style.

Charley Mouse Cleans House by Katerina Gorelik is a remarkable book. It is light on story but the art draws the reader in. The scope of the story goes from cute and cozy to somewhat grotesque and disturbing. Some of the characters and their houses, cleaned by title character Charley Mouse, are whimsical and quirky. Others, such as the wolf, have a dark side, shown by the number of bones found in their houses. No violence is actually shown. The book is pretty lighthearted, but still, a parent may want to preview the book before giving it to young child. Children who enjoy all things gross will most likely love Charley Mouse Cleans House, especially the Mole family's house. I am not usually a fan of the truly scary or disgusting but I admit that I was fascinated by Charley Mouse's world and how it could go from adorably sweet to disturbingly gross with just a page turn. And I have to say that Charley Mouse is stunningly naive about some of her customers. But these pictures deserve to be leisurely studied. There are items to find, items to count and bits of whimsy and wonder to examine. Children can enjoy this book alone or as a shared read.

Charley Mouse Cleans House is a wonderfully interactive book about a mouse who loves organization, order and cleanliness and helps all of the neighbours with their homes. Each page visits a different animal's home and the reader helps Charley find items that need to be put away. The illustrations are very detailed and so finding the items are not too easy. This would not be a book for a highly sensitive child as the amount of detail may be too overwhelming. One of the houses is owned by a witch so those who have an issue with that will want to skip it but overall it is a fun and engaging story! Thanks to Netgalley

The illustrations were fantastic in this children’s book! There were a decent amount of words on each page so this was a bit too much for my 2.5 yo, it would be most appropriate for ages 3-5! I look forward to reading this with her again when she’s a bit older, as the book was incredibly cute and fun!

Kids love a book where they are involved and Charley Mouse Cleans House does this beautifully. Lots of things to find and count and match in the various houses.
The story takes us through lots of houses belonging to lots of creatures, real and magical and the details in the illustrations are fabulous. From the dark and slightly macabre in the fox, wolf and witches houses to the magic of the gingerbread family and unicorns, there is something for everyone.
I would chose the witch’s house so that I could borrow her shoes!!

I cannot describe the hours of joy that this book has brought to my house. Every time we open it up there's a whole new set of things to discover. The main story line of this is spectacular and fun but I think the real magic is the many many side quests that could be had. The illustrations in this book are gorgeous there is so much detail and things to be seen. I cannot for all the hidden treasures that we still have yet to discover.

A delightfully cozy and immersive 'seek and find' tale of Charley Mouse. She lives in a cozy teapot that she diligently keeps tidy. In fact, she loves keeping things tidy so much that she also cleans the homes of her neighbors. In doing so, Charley invites the reader to help her with her tasks: finding missing keys, cups, and more!
I can imagine this keeping a young kiddo engaged for some time. Perfect for a cozy day in!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mother of two here, and we loved Charley Mouse Cleans House, by Katerina Gorelik! My kids and I loved the story, and the different homes Charley visited. So clever the way she incorporated a look and find at each house. Look and find books are a huge hit at our house! The illustrations, also by Katerina, are beautiful and make the book a 10 out 10 for us. Such a clever concept! We enjoyed guessing which animal lived in each of the houses, as we turned the page. This book was a hit with both my 8yo and 5yo. I would definitely recommend this to another family with upper elementary-aged kids!
Thank you to NetGalley and Red Comet Press for this eARC!

These illustrations were absolutely amazing! I genuinely loved the book and my kids thought it was funny that the mouse shared one of their names! We had fun reading it and talking about all the different animals.

The illustration art is stunning and eye catching, each page is colorful and vibrant. In this story we follow a little mouse who has a passion and business of cleaning. Each day of her work week we are introduced to a new character and their home. While Charley cleans you have to find several objects in each home, it'll keep you entertained and it was such a cute story.
