This really is a book to get for the illustrations. They're so clever and detailed, and there's so much to talk about on every page. Kids will love finding the listed items, feeling successful.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

Charley Mouse Cleans House was a vibrant book! The story was light-hearted and fun. I wish they had listed the methods to use the book at the beginning as a foreword of sorts, but it was still a helpful addition. I enjoyed reading this to my daughter and cats. We’d certainly live in the unicorn home!

What a beautifully illustrated book for both children and adults! You follow Charley Mouse as she travels to each of her neighbors in helping them to clean their houses started at the Wild Wood then moving on to the Magical Woods and all along the way she’s asked to search for certain missing items in each house. Such attention to detail gives both child and adult humor along the way.

Things I liked:
•The brilliant illustrations. The pictures within the storybook had such a timeless quality to them; this book could exist in many time periods and be beloved in them all for this alone.
•The find-it challenges. I think my kids would adore these smart and understated tasks. I only wish there were more opportunities for this. (Honestly some of these were pretty difficult.)
•The “ways to use this book” in the back! I love the practical applications there. ”Which house would you most want to live in and why?” Precious opportunities to connect with our children by starting sweet conversations.
•I actually really liked the darker moments within the story. It would go over most kids’ heads I’d imagine but it’s the kind of thing I would have liked as a kid.

Things I didn’t enjoy as much:
•Is it just me or was this story unnecessarily wordy? The amount of words didn’t propel the story forward enough. It felt like a chore.
•The story itself could have been stronger. Would have liked more interaction with other characters.
•I would have liked there to be more guided “find-it” opportunities within the story.

Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity!

The art in this book is stunning, and very much the show-stealer here! While I loved the story, I spent so much time ogling the artwork, and I can absolutely see this being a new favorite for many families in the future.

An adorable interactive story and I-Spy book in one! Some of the challenges were a little difficult, but I think kids will really enjoy the premise of this book. The illustrations were equal part cozy, whimsical, and macabre in some of the animals dens.
The "Ways to use this book" is also helpful.
