OMG what a darling book!! This is a picture book about a young witch who has everything but a pet and sets out to get one.
I listened to the 7 minute audiobook as I like to see how well picture books translate to the medium. Let me tell you this was great. It was narrated with the perfect voice by Kate Coventry as well as backed by jaunty music in the background. Ms Coventry brought the story alive even without looking at the illustrations which I’m sure are fabulous.
This would be a great opportunity for not only visually impaired children to enjoy a book but also to have young readers tandem read and listen to the audio while following along with the physical book.
This one is definitely going on my list as a book to get for friends and families children.
I am thankful to have gotten an eARC for free from through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system for Middle Grade and children’s books
⭐️ Significant problems and would never recommend to the audience.
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea but may have some appeal.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ an ok book which I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend but it has some value for young readers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! I would recommend for the age or reading level appropriate for the book
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Would recommend highly, especially to school programs as a wide spread reading opportunity.

Evelyn Witch Gets a Pet is an adorable story with an overall theme of patience. The audio version is full of sound effects, and Kate Coventry's performance is outstanding. The audio is easy to follow without the print version, but it would be a wonderful addition to the reading experience to have both.
I received an ALC from Macmillan Audio | Macmillan Young Listeners via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Cute story with a fun narrator. Love Evelyn and her adventures in this story. Excited to add to my collection in audiobook and actual book formats.
