I learned a lot from this book! This was a very accessible read to learn about various difficult topics of race. As a special educator, I especially enjoyed reading about the intersectionality of disability and race. This book was very enlightening and I think everyone can find something to take away. However, I was disappointed to see in other reviews that some people were misrepresented or did not give their consent for the book.

I thought that this book did a great job navigating a very difficult and challenging set of topics. The narrator did a great job with the information, as well, and it was a great choice to use the author for the narrator. I thought this was very informative, and provided information without being too belittling or overly-jargon-filled.

Ijeoma Oluo writes about different activists in the United States and how they approach their jobs and how they approach their jobs being minorities. I liked this book. It taught me a lot about how I can ben an ally without stepping all over someone's progress in the movement toward equality. The author narrates the book and she does a really good job. I thoroughly enjoyed her voice.

In a time where it feels like there is nothing to do against all that is going on, this book helped remind me of the things to do to help and make a difference. This book is one I will be recommending to everybody I know. Having this book narrated by the author helped add so much heart and understanding to it. Action and liberation work can happen in many ways, and this book highlights the importance of intersectionality. This book reminded me why I do the work I do, and that no time is wasted in fighting the good fight.

Honestly, I am unsure of how to rate this. When I was listening to it I found it enlighting and rich, however I have since found out that many of the people featured were misrepresented or not even informed of how heavily their interview would be featured. I'm very disappointed in Oluo's reaction to this as I was a big fan of her previous two works.

Thanks to the publisher for the audio ARC of this book! This is a pretty sweeping book that covers stories from so many different activists and issues related to equity. It took me a few chapters to get used to the activist story-then-action item format of the book, but it ended up being a really great practical guide to ways anyone can begin contributing to movement work. The author does a great job narrating it and giving voice to the activists. Especially in the current political climate, this is a really important book.

Ijeoma Oluo's So You Want to Talk About Race legitimately changed my life when I read it. It shifted my perspective on the world and I especially enjoyed reading about race from a non-American perspective. So I was genuinely thrilled to receive this advanced copy of Be a Revolution and it was equally thought-provoking and carefully written. Everything is written in a way so that you have action items to move forward with your mission but also breaks things down so they are easy to understand. This should be required reading.

The author narrates the book herself and it was fantastic. I highly recommend the audio version.

Ijeoma Oluo's Be a Revolution is an incredible education and call to action. The book provides a history and profile of various aspects of activism work from disability rights to education and more. I appreciated the comprehensive and intersectional approach of Oluo. She approaches each topic in a way that is accessible for readers who may be unfamiliar, but with enough new insights or voices to interest those with familiarity. The audiobook is great, listening to Oluo narrate, it felt like attending a meeting or conference by a passionate and interesting speaker that keeps you on the edge of your seat to hear what they say next. I highly recommend this book.

"Be a Revolution by Ijeoma Oluo" is an amazing read/listen. I have really loved the chapters on disability justice and environmental justice. The comments on the nonprofit scene are also spot on.

With the current state of the US, it was important to me to search out voices and experiences different than my own and this audiobook was an excellent choice for this. There were so many perspectives, Oluo’s research and interviews were so informative. Her voice is very inviting and walks through these chapters beautifully. Definitely found some revolution in me through these stories.

Subjects like racism, ableism, the prison industrial complex, trafficking etc. are discussed in this amazing book. The detail to deliver information woven together with personal stories shines in these essays. If this book doesn’t radicalize you, then I don’t know what will. Very heavy subjects but necessary.
