I love Harlan Coben. I’ve been reading his books since I was a teenager and love that he keeps up a steady book a year release. Nobody’s Fool did not disappoint. It was an edge of your seat mystery that I couldn’t stop listening to and finished in one day.
Sami Kierce went backpacking in Spain with friends, met a girl , hooked up for a few days and then woke up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. And Anna who appears dead. He doesn’t know what happened. His screams drown out his thoughts—and then he runs.
Twenty-two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna. It’s unmistakably her. He knows he must find this woman and solve the impossible mystery that has haunted his every waking moment since that terrible day.
4 ⭐️ thank you NetGalley and Hachette audio for an ARC of the book for a review.

Nobody's Fool was a read that I could not put down. There were so many shady characters that I almost had a hard time keeping up. I loved the students in the sleuthing class. I give this five stars. The narration as great.

Excellent! Narrating was perfection. This detective thriller was well written, detailed and kept me wanting more. I loved the way the details unfolded, revealing yet another twist to the story. The end tied it all together in ways I wasn't expecting.

Nobody's Fool is the story of Sami Kierce, a private detective who teaches a night class to "wannabe sleuths." Twenty years prior he was backpacking in Spain when he fell for Anna, a young woman also from the states. When one morning he wakes up with Anna dead next to him in bed, covered in blood, he runs. So he is beside himself when she turns up in his night class twenty years later. He runs after her but she disappears. He knows he must track her, and that will also mean facing what happened in Spain all those years ago.
It has been a while since I have read a Harlan Coben novel (though I have seen a few of his Netflix adaptations) but he continues to be a great storyteller. The narration of this audiobook was excellent and added to the story in all the right ways. I did find the denouement a bit confusing in places, but not so much that it made the story any less compelling. A solid thriller. 4 stars.
I received this advance audio copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and feedback.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #HachetteAudio for the book #NobodysFool by #HarlanCoben. I thoroughly enjoyed this book full of deception, secrets and murder and loved the big twist ending! Sami Kierce is a private investigator and during one of his classes an ex girlfriend, who he thought was dead, shows up in the back of the room and then takes off. Determined to get to the bottom of how she is still alive, he starts investigating her. He is haunted every day since he was in college and this happened. Can he get the answers he is looking for?

This was my first Harlan Coben book and it definitely will not be my last! This was very enjoyable. Vikas Adam, the narrator, did a wonderful job giving different voices to all of the characters without going over the top or being annoying. I appreciate that with male narrators doing female voices.
I was sucked into this one from the start. I liked that there were students from the criminology class helping to do research on the cases. The story was well done with twists that did not feel like they came out of nowhere. It felt believable with how everything came together in the end. Im looking forward to reading another book by Coben.
Thank you NetGalley and Hachette Audio for this advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Absolutely loved this one.
The MMCs inner dialogue was witty and the story took so many twists and turns.
Loved all the members of the criminology class being better detectives than the cops.
Twists kept coming and the ending was perfect.
Harlan Coben doesn’t miss!

Review💯
This was completely insane from the start. I don't typically enjoy detective novels, but this was fantastically done. I really enjoyed the story line and the main character. So much happened that I was constantly freaking out. It played like a movie in my head, and I felt as if I were part of the story. I loved how the author described the characters, and his writing style is simply brilliant. The ending was epic, and altogether it was a fantastic read.

Audio: I absolutely loved the narrator and he really brought the entire story to life. His voice was perfect for this book.

This was only the second book by Harlan Coben that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last! Coben has a way of sucking you into a story that you want to be a part of. It has just enough twists that it makes you want to keep reading late into the night. The plot and pacing are so well thought out. The character development is on point! I would love to be a student in one of Sami’s classes helping the group to solve cold cases. I can’t wait to be able to pick up another book by Coben!
Thanks to Netgalley and Hatchette Audio for an advanced audiobook copy in exchange for my honest review opinion.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Audio for an early audiobook edition of “Nobody’s Fool” by Harlan Coben, narrated by Vikas Adam for an honest review. Vikas Adam did a good job with the narration.
Nobody’s Fool is a follow-up to Fool Me Once, with Sami Kierce being the main character in this story that takes place about a year after Nobody’s Fool ends (before its epilogue). A few other characters appear, but you do not need to read Fool Me Once to follow this book.
This is the story of a woman Sami had relations with 22 years ago, who he sees in a detective class he is teaching. When he follows her, he finds she is an heiress who went missing 22 years ago and was found 11 years ago. An heiress who Sami had relations with 22 years ago, while she was missing. Something is not right, so Sami begins to investigate. There are twists and turns and gotcha’s in this story.
There is also a side story about a murderer who was released from prison on a technicality who Sami believes is guilty and is trying to prove it. Sami enlists his students to help him on both cases, which adds some comedy to the story. Character development was good and the story was the right length without any extraneous storylines.

Harlan Coben is usually a winner, but this book fell short for me. In fact, after almost DNFing it several times, the plot finally picked up around 40% of the way through, so I finished it.
Sami Kierce is a former police detective who does PI work and teaches criminology on the side. When a woman shows up unexpectedly in his class, he becomes obsessed, because he swears that he knows her from a trip to Spain some 20 years ago, and, back then, when he fled the scene.he was left to think that he had left her for dead by his own hand. As he pieces the events together, he is finally able to solve the case.
This book is twisty but not as intriguing as Coben's other books. I think it would make a better screenplay than book.
Thanks to #Netgalleyaudio for the advance copy.

I always enjoy Harlan Coben's books, and this was another fun one. I enjoy the way Coben ties his stories together. I didn't realize Nobody's Fool was the second in a series, but that's ok, as it worked as a standalone too. The characters in this novel are top notch, and the way the story unfolds i a lot of fun - I really liked Sami's class of criminal investigation wannabees and their work to help him with his case.
If you like edge-of your seat thrillers, this is a super fun book.

Sami Kierce from Fool Me Once is back in the new novel from Harlan Coben - Nobody's Fool.
"While he was backpacking as a young college student, Sami fell in love and got involved with a young woman. And now after twenty years she's shown up in the night class in NYC that he teaches. But that can't be right. Last time he saw her, he woke up next to her holding a knife and covered in blood - her blood. He left and never went back. What's going on?"
You can always count on Coben to add a lot of layers and misdirects. You can never be sure what is really going on and what's the truth. So many surprises and twists in this story. You might gues one or two but there are plenty of "Wait - what?!?" moments.
Vikas Adam does a decent job with the audio. I did a combo audio/text read and there are a few times I expected more emotion.
Coben does it again with another wild story. Be sure to add this to your summer beach reading list.

"Stunningly twisty thriller" is an understatement. What an adventure the latest read from Harlan Coben is. If you want jaw drops, head spins and an ending slapping you out of no where, you're going to want to read this one.
I have to admit I had no idea when I began reading this, Nobody's Fool is book two in the Detective Sami Kierce Series. If this sounds familiar, it is probably because you watched the Fool Me Once Netflix series which book one is based off of. Detective Sergeant Sami Kierce lead the homicide investigation in the first book and his character carries on to book two where he is now a Private Investigator and teaches classes on becoming a P.I.
When Sami was younger, he woke up one morning in Spain covered in blood and next to his dead girlfriend, Anna. He fled back home to the US, running away from the scene of the crime and it has never caught up to him. Until now, when someone who looks like Anna shows up in the back of his classroom.
From this moment, the book takes you on one incredible ride. There is no downtime in this book. SO much is happening and it is easy to become invested in this story.
The character development is top notch. I really like Sami and I absolutely adore his wife Molly. Why does she has to be so darn sweet, caring and funny? He is lucky to have someone like her by his side.
The epilogue definitely left it open for a book three and when this happens, I am here for it! I cannot wait. Easy five star listen. Vikas Adam is a fantastic narrator and so easy to listen to. His reading was flawless.

This is a second book in a newer Coban series of which I didn’t read the first. On the good side.. you could easily pick up the story as is typical for an HC book. He does a great job at making his books to be read as standalone as he gives enough back info but it usually doesn’t feel like you’re rereading a past book.
This one is a typical HC format with a fairly predictable ending but you just enjoy the ride. Admittedly, it’s not as engaging as his other series so some fans may be disappointed.
For those that haven’t read him, his style is police procedural with a twist. He is reminiscent of a modern James Patterson. Yes Patterson is still churning out his typical style and the two are in the same generational category but Coban’s plots O think cater a bit more to the younger generations as well as his peers.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator Vikas Adam did a fine job and kept me focused on the prose. He has a laid back smooth voice that many will enjoy listening to.
I am thankful to have gotten the audio ALC for free from Hachette Audio through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

I am not sure why this book was made into a connected series. Is it to be able to use the same cast for another season? Fool Me Once introduced detective Roger Kierce as a side character. Nobody’s Fool has “the same” detective as the main character— only his name is Sami and he’s now a young Pakistani American former detective. I don’t get it. It didn’t work. And he was written with weird/cringe boomer male commentary as well. There’s really no comparison between the first and second book in this series.
I might have even rated it 1 star because someone needs to give Vikas Adam the feedback that his female character voices are beyond offensive. Please tone it down.
*Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance audiobook copy

This book could easily be read as a standalone but this is the second book about Detective Sami Kierce. I like him as a character and I was excited to see him again. When he was fresh out of college he took a trip to Europe and met a girl and his life would never be the same. He woke up feeling like he’d been drugged with a knife and blood everywhere. He ran but has never forgotten the girl he has believed he killed. Now with his life again taken a turn for the worse he is drowning in debt and is disgraced after a mistake cost him his career and reputation. This doesn’t stop him from teaching detective skills to a group of young people and one day a woman joins the class who looks like Anna, the girl he met in Spain. He chases her and finds a mystery he wasn’t expecting. This book twisted between several mysteries and I really liked it a lot. I listened to the audiobook and I liked the narrator a lot, he really brought the main character to life. I gave this book 4.5 stars rounded up because it was a very enjoyable story.

Nobody's Fool by Harlan Coben is an engrossing and masterfully crafted thriller. As a sequel, I came into this story without the benefit of reading its predecessor, but Coben does an impressive job of weaving in enough context to make the narrative accessible and engaging for newcomers. The book seamlessly delivers the essential background without overwhelming the listener, allowing the story to stand strong on its own.
Coben’s knack for character development is on full display here. With a sprawling cast of personalities, it can be easy to lose track of who’s who. However, the author’s clever use of nicknames for each character helps keep them distinct and memorable, a technique that I found especially helpful in maintaining the story’s flow. The plot itself is a brilliant web of twists and turns, culminating in an ending so unexpected that it left me both shocked and satisfied.
I experienced this story through the audiobook version, and I have to give credit to the narrator, Vikas Adam, whose performance elevated the entire experience. Normally, I’m not a fan of male narrators attempting female voices, as they often veer into exaggerated or cliché territory. But this Vikas Adam skillfully avoided those pitfalls, delivering distinct, believable voices for each character. His performance was so nuanced that at times, it felt like I was listening to a full cast rather than just one reader.
Ultimately, Nobody's Fool is a thrilling ride from start to finish, blending suspense and intricate storytelling with a fantastic twist that will leave you reeling. The audiobook version, in particular, adds a whole new layer of depth to the experience, thanks to the narrator’s exceptional performance. Whether you're already a fan of Coben’s work or new to his world, this gripping sequel will keep you hooked until the very end. If you’re a lover of sharp twists, compelling characters, and a story that keeps you guessing, Nobody's Fool is definitely worth a listen.

When Sami Kierce wakes up covered in blood next to a dead woman with no memory of what happened, he runs. Years later teaching night class, he spots the woman in his class, setting in motion a new investigation as to what really happened.
I'll read anything by Harlan Coben. His mysteries are well written and unpredictable. Sami Kierce is a great leading character with quite the interesting background. This plot was not super original, but was carried out originally. I did not know what the heck was going on and there were a couple very shocking moments. There was a perfect amount of humor and quick wit mixed in to lighten things up. I would recommend this read for sure. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator was great.
