Excellent title that covers a key period in the development of the nascent American Republic. Very well written, highly informative and worthy of being on the shelf of any keen student of that period.
I never finished this book because it just got bogged down in dates and footnotes. I didn't feel a party to history, just a slog through a careful textbook.
Interesting take on the differing views of Washington, Jefferson and, to a lesser degree, James Madison. A bit too scholarly for my taste, but interesting nonetheless.
Love the way this is written, and give a more realistic perspective on the occurrences that lead to shaping and forming the guidelines that helped us form our constitution. It's refreshing to find a telling of the relationship between Washington and Jefferson that isn't presented through rose colored lenses.
