This is a compelling addition to the Lone Star Defenders series featuring an FBI agent who is investigating a cold case which she has a personal connection with. The plot is fast paced with plenty of complications and relatable characters. This book was hard to put down.

Deputy Mike Tyner was concerned about his cousin Cliff Tyner. 12 years ago - Cliff had been a suspect in his former girlfriend's (Dawn Caffertys) case and his stress had caused him to drink heavily.
Now Christy Williams, an FBI agent and Dawns former roommate was going to reopen the case. But, someone didn't want her to, Christys' hotel room had been trashed and a note with a knife left in it that said "Leave".
Then, Mike and Christy were chased by an SUV as they were investigating an area.
Who killed Dawn ?

This is an intriguing book about an FBI agent who is pursuing a cold case in which her best friend and college roommate went home to Mercy, Texas, and disappeared. Poof! Vanished! Agent Christy Williams goes to Mercy to try to find out what happened to Dawn over a decade ago and ends up working with Detective Mike Tyner. There are some interesting dynamics in this scenario since Christy was friends with Dawn and Mike happens to be a cousin of a chief suspect, a man that Christy doesn’t trust at all. The plot is fast-paced with plenty of complications and red herrings. There are also a lot of really good clues that led me to guess who the villain was but my correct guess did not detract at all from the drama of the story and all of the events leading up to the conclusion. I enjoyed getting to know the relatable characters, but my real enjoyment came from the way the characters interacted and worked together to solve the mystery of what happened to Dawn. With a family’s peace of mind at stake, Christy is determined to find out the truth, even when it means that her life is in danger. This is a book cries out to be read quickly as it is hard to put down!

“Missing in Texas” is a thrilling romance novel with a very engaging plot, real characters, and a suspenseful storyline. I have read similar books by Virginia Vaughan and have enjoyed them all. Her books are always fast paced with easy to follow plots. If you enjoy romance novels mixed with suspense, this book is definitely worth checking out.

"Missing in Texas" is a romantic suspense novel. Although a part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. Mike has worked a cold case that haunts him: the disappearance of his cousin's girlfriend. He saw her shortly before she disappeared. Christy, her roommate, chose to take a vacation with a boyfriend rather than go home with her roommate like she'd promised. Feeling guilty and unable to date again until this case is solved, she's investigating the case for herself. Christy thinks Mike's cousin is the obvious suspect as his girlfriend was going to break up with him. Mike's certain that it must be someone else. They team up, hoping their knowledge of the case and conflicting views about what likely happened will help them consider all of the possibilities.

Christy and Mike generally worked well together. They questioned people, considered various possibilities, and followed up on leads. Then Christy went off on her own (without telling Mike) to follow up on a lead and ended up needing to be rescued. But, hey, they did solve the case, complete with evidence. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable romantic suspense.

Missing in Texas is the second book in the Lone Star Defenders series. FBI Agent Christy Williams heads to Texas to work the cold case of her friend who disappeared over ten years ago. This story is good and keeps you on your toes.

The moment FBI agent Christy Williams arrives in Mercy, Texas, determined to solve her friend’s disappearance twelve years ago, she becomes a killer’s number one target. Ignoring the threats on her life, she partners with Deputy Mike Tyner, the cousin of one of the chief suspects…and the last person to see her friend alive. As they work to investigate this cold case together, it becomes clear someone will stop at nothing to keep the past hidden. With time running out, can Mike keep Christy alive long enough to find justice for her friend…before a murderer strikes again?! Very good storyline! Great thriller! This book had great suspense, intriguing, action, murder, mystery, and a few crazy twists and turns! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Finished this in one night!! Wow!
Fast paced from page one all the way through I loved every minute of guessing in who did it.
Finished it a 2 in the morning because I couldn't put Dawn's story down until it was over.
Vaughn is an excellent storyteller of faith, mystery and hope in her stories.
It's what I love about her stories.
I'm surprised about a few things in this book however. I won't say but I thought certain things wasn't allowed on a case even if cold cases like this one. I think to me, it what made this story exciting and interesting.
This cover is cool. It's different from her other ones. It will be my favorite cover and story to come.
5 stars for a job well done!
And for keeping me engaged all the way through. Wonderful characters that I enjoyed in getting to know too!
I got mad at Mike several times just because of certain things he did and said.
Christy at times wasn't any better of course but I found myself rooting for them.
I hated to see this one end. It was fantastic!
I highly recommend.
