Kenley Bates still feels guilt over the ATV accident that caused her to lose her best friend and her own foot at the age of 17. Kenley believes the ATV manufacturer knew about a fault with the machine and kept it covered up while continuing to sell the ATVs. This led Kenley to start searching for evidence of negligence and to locate others who have suffered death or severe injury from similar accidents, and which leads her to start her own business helping people. She has become very skilled at her job and her methods take her beyond the Internet and deep into the dark web, but only to help others, and not to cause harm.
During one of her searches, she stumbles upon something she fears could cause harm worldwide. It scares her enough to have her calling for help from Delilah, who works for a company called Secure One, and is one of the few friends she has. But instead of Delilah, her call is answered by Jude Mason. The fear in her voice has Jude immediately wanting to help her and Kenley decides to trust him because she knows Delilah wouldn’t just leave her phone with anyone she didn’t trust.
This leads Kenley and Jude on a search to discover the source of the dangerous site that put fear into her and to take it down as quickly as possible. But someone doesn’t want that to happen and will do anything to stop her.
I loved the chemistry between Kenley and Jude, his acceptance of her disability and his care and concern in making sure she was as comfortable as could be during their ordeal.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love how Jude and Kenley met and how fast paced the action is. Keeps you on your toes from start to finish. Has action and romance.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat! It’s not only a page turner, but a must read. Right from the beginning, I was hooked!
Kenley has one job by day and another at night. When she lost her best friend, when they were younger, in an ATV accident; it’s a race against time to get justice. She also is an amputee from the accident. Now she’s entangled with Savant, and she’s trying to take him down. When one incident has her calling Delilah for help, and Jude picks up, that’s where their friendship begins. He works at Secure Watch and is a Cybersecurity Expert. Kenley along with Jude are on a mission to break a code and hopefully take care of Savant for good. Along the way, danger ensues at every turn, never knowing if they are safe or are about to be taken out. Jude and Kenley also form a connection and bond over their short time together. In the end, what will happen? Will Jude and Kenley have a happy ending? Will Savant and his web be taken out? Wait til you find out!

Welp, she’s done it again. I was hooked and read it in break neck speed. This was fast paced, fun and did I mention fast? I loved that from page one you were off and running. Katie has such a way of writing that draws you in fast.
Kenley & Jude were a perfect match. And the way Katie shows us that having a disability makes no difference. And I mean that it the best way. As a person with no knowledge of what it could possibly be like we see how life goes on and how you must adapt. I often don’t read romance anymore. This reminded me how fun it is and finding your person in a crazy circumstance and loving them for who and what they are is what it’s all about. This book also reminded me that living your best life with joy where you can find it is the best way to combat the evil in our world.

OMG, I really liked this book. The tech angle and the battle of two hackers hooked me on the story but it was so much more. The emotions and pain that Kenley had lived with were laid raw on the pages and before Jude. She is a survivor who fights for justice for others which made Jude her perfect match. She needed someone to fight by her side even though at times he just wanted to protect her. That was the beauty of his character, he understood she needed to stand on her own and needed him to stand with her, not in front. Both characters were so real that it actually felt like you could see them in your mind's eye. The author did not shy away from delving into a tough subject - amputation and not just as a plot device. She made Kenley's situation seem very real and very sad and very amazing that a woman could stand like she did.
The plot was intense. At times hope seemed lost as they raced to stay ahead of the bad guys. The book really stacked the deck against them and then doubled down by having our black hat taunt our white hat (Kenley.) Seeing the other characters from Secure Watch and Secure One helping from afar made me very curious about their stories as well especially Mina who also has geek blood. I also will be on the lookout for new books in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin - Romance | Harlequin Intrigue for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Kenley uses her computer skills to help others so when she stumbled upon something she doesn't feel good about she calls one of the few people who she trust to help her however Jude is who answers her call. Jude has been covering for a friend while she is on her honeymoon so he doesn't hesitate to help only neither know what is coming. Completely devoured this book. Very intriguing

4.5 STARS!!
I have been a big fan to Ms. Mettner and her books -- especially her Harlequin Secure One series. I was so excited to have learned about her spinoff series Secure Watch, building from the Secure One series. I was NOT disappointed in the start of her new series. I am so excited for the books that will follow this one!! If you like the world of technology; age-gap trope with romance, and suspense, this story is for you!
Kenley Bates loses her foot in a ATV accident at the age of 17 that had left more than physical scars. The emotional toll that accident had left in her, especially in the loss of her friend, that lead her to become a very skilled hacker to not only collect evidence and data of negligence of the ATV company, but built a business of her own to bring justice to those around her that were knowingly wronged by the major corporations that had done nothing to prevent injuries and deaths with their products. How and where she gathers that evidence, well that is what leads her into her pickle. Talk about fate....realizing she stumbled across something dangerous on the dark web, led her to call Delilah (Secure One Book 6 character) but she was on a honeymoon and Jude Mason was on duty with her company phone and responded. From that point on, you are taken on the run with Jude and Kenley as they work together to solve who is following Kenley and who is responsible for a dangerous cyber program. The plot keeps you on your toes and anxious for both Kenley and Jude to solve the mystery and find out who the code name SAVANT is.
Well written. Clean language -- no profanity or crude words. Likable characters. Great chemistry between Jude and Kenley. There are a couple open door scenes, but not overly graphic with much left implied but you still get the passion and chemistry that you would want with your main characters. And although one could say this was a rather quick developed romance, I did not seem as quick as they had to learn to be vulnerable and trusting of each other's character traits and persona. There was development and some depth you get in their journey of their relationship. It wasn't insta-lust which I appreciated. Always with Ms. Mettner, she creates worlds for readers learn about different disabilities that people live with every day and how they are overcome mental battles with it, and they get their happily ever afters too! Truly awe inspiring and they deserve love and romance too! The book not only engages you, the reader, with all the action but also emotionally for Kenley and Jude, who learn to be vulnerable and trust with one another and overcome past guilts, traumas and mindsets. I love the integration of both Secure One and the Secure Watch team members woven into the story too because in a way you indirectly get updates from past favorite characters and how they are doing and what they have been up to.
My only complaint ...... 1. I would've liked a better resolution with the company that Kenley was originally investigating on for justice for her friend Gabby....
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Intrigue for the advanced copy!! Can't wait for book 2 of this series!!
