A why choose romance marketed to fans of bonded by thorns? count me in! Really enjoyable, and I love the backdrop for this; four princes looking for one girl for the four of them? Just perfect. Looking forward to the next one!

I went into this expecting a balance between fantasy and romance. But this was mainly romance with a side of fantasy. Which can be fun, but isn’t what was marketed. Why not simply classify it as a romance? And even then it was more smut than actual love. Several more peeves: the names being 1-2 syllables or 3 letters. The colour schemes being so obvious but with so few physical descriptors. Rylee being blonde but wearing jewel colours and black. Minor details that drew me out of the story very quickly.

Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of this book.
This is a why choose Romantasy which I genuinely could not put down. I think I read it in 24 hours.
A country where the lands are split into tiers, the sons of the four kings host a choosing ceremony to find the one mate for all four of them. A girl from the lowest tier sneaks into the ceremony for her own agenda and ends up chosen. Can she win the four princes over before they find out her secrets?
If you enjoyed Bonded by Thorns and love a spicy why choose trope then this is the book for you. The spice is excellently written, explained in detail without being super explicit in its language. The four princes all have their own darkness, some more than others, and each are just deliciously described.
The FMC is not timid and her character is enjoyable to read from the get go. Her vulnerability mixed with her feisty nature is captivating and makes perfect sense within the storyline.
All in all an excellent read that will keep you going until the early hours. I cannot wait for book two.
5 stars

I’m going to be honest, I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I requested this book but BOY am I glad I did
I am a why choose, reverse harem lover through and through and this scratched that itch beautifully.
The character variety was vast, the FMC was perfect and the multiple POV’s added to the story rather than being used as a crutch.
Having read a lot of why choose, I loved that the characters all felt like main characters rather than 1 main and then a few “add ons”
The chemistry was outstanding and I am CLAWING for book 2
4 stars only because I would have liked a bit more world building

Okay, listen… I did not expect to fall this hard for a why-choose romance it's usually not my vibe — but The Never List completely stole my heart. I usually find myself picking one fave in a group dynamic or multiple love interest, but Jade Presley made that impossible. Each of the four princes had their own personality, charm, and swoony moments that made me fall for every single one of them.
The dynamic between them and the FMC was so well-balanced — no one felt like filler or second-best, and the chemistry? Off the charts.
I also have to shout out the multiple POVs — flawlessly done. Each switch felt intentional and added so much depth to the story. I was never confused or bored, just constantly obsessed.
The mix of Kingdom politics, emotional connection, and romantic chaos gave me everything I want in a romantasy. The only negative? I NEED book two in my hands like yesterday.
If you're fantasy-curious but romance-obsessed or even hesitant about why-choose(like I was) — trust me, this one's worth it. LOVED!!
SOLID 5/5 READ FOR ME.

Oh. My. God. No words can express how well this book lived up to my expectations. I read it in a day.
It’s sometimes difficult to find a book that portrays very vast and difference personalities in characters- especially when there are multiple that have to be focused on. This book displayed all their differences and characteristics beautifully.
I also loved the fast pace of the book- it was perfect. The way all the chapters were written meant i didn’t have a single moment during reading where i felt like it was dragging on just for the sake of it.
The Never List has left me lost. How on earth am i supposed to read a why choose when this high of a standard has now been set? And that cliffhanger? It absolutely destroyed me. I can’t wait for book 2.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me ARC read The Never List- it’s definitely one of the most unforgettable books i’ve read. Also, thank you to the author for writing such a masterpiece.

💌 They have cute nicknames for her
MY THOUGHTS
This book was deliciously spicy, immersive, and so hard to put down!!!
All of the leading men (this is a why choose book, after all) were so endearing in their own ways, and it was so fun to see Rylee get closer with each of them throughout the story— all the while navigating political turmoil and troubles with the “in-laws” 🤣😅😅
When I have described this book to my booksta friends, I said it was a fun and great escapist read… And then that ending happened and now I’m not okayyy mannn 😂😂😭😭😭
I had an idea of the plot twist at the end, but the way things unfolded makes me want to tear my hair out 😂 But at least there will be another book 😅
Highly recommend this book for why-choose romance lovers who love a generous dose of spice!
(Will share this review on Instagram @for_ambrolia over the next couple of weeks!)

I thought this was going to be a little silly romp but I absolutely loved it! I devoured this book in a day and enjoyed every second.
Thank you Quercus Books and Netgalley for letting me read this early in exchange for a review.
Rylee sneaks into a high class event, the Choosing -where four princes are trying to find a single mate, looking for her missing sister. Coming from a lower-class background, she absolutely loathes anything to do with the kings and upper class but this is her only chance to find out what happened to her sister so needs must.
What she didn’t expect was for the flirty mystery man in the shadows to somehow turn into a prince and choose her number.
This book is a why choose FMMMM with a lot of spice! If you don’t like spice then don’t read this book. I appreciated the trigger warnings at the start so I knew what I was in for.
The story was fast paced, mainly focusing on the character relationships as Rylee spent time with each of the princes at their respective cities. The world building was seamlessly intertwined with the blossoming relationships as each city perfectly represented its prince.
The plot was not forgotten throughout and this book was written wonderfully. Even though I predicted the little twist(s?) at the end, I still thoroughly enjoyed every second of the writing and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these characters in coming books.

The Never List by Jade Presley is a why choose paranomal romance. Rhylee is searching for her missing sister when she is becomes the chosen one & mate for four immortal princes. To save her life she has to needs to ensure that her 6 month stay with them does not reveal her secrets.
I really enjoyed this romantacy book with forced proximity and 'why choose' tropes. I found all the main characters quite different and loved how their personalities were revealed over time. The antagonist while quite clear from the beginning was a well written character who made my skin crawl and gave me a feeling of dread throughout the book.
I can wait to read the next book!!!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC in return for an honest review.

This book…. 🤭🫠
I was hooked, the entire way through… a fantasy why choose? I mean I really don’t need to say more? 🤭
The Legends… incredible MMC’s within their own right, I found myself smiling to myself throughout majority of this book I honestly couldn’t tell you who my favourite is … I want them all 🤭 the spice was 🤌🏻🤤
The fantasy side of this book is incredibly written and really intriguing (anything with gods/goddess’s & Demi’s I’m here for) - the story line had me page turning I just needed to know how it would play it and it was just brilliant! That ENDING!!! Jade I need book 2 like NOW 😱😱😱

Thanks to NetGalley for sending me an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was hoping to absolutely love this one but it was just okay.
The plot was barely there, the world building is non existent and the pacing was completely off. We spent so long in chapters and moments that were unnecessary and then completely rushed through or skip bits that were quite key.
I did like the characters and the romance, but I think the book is largely lacking substance.

I really enjoyed this book and am already eager for the next part of the story , I was kept on my toes at every turn .

Oh to be the filling in that 4 man sandwich.
The Never List is a fast-paced whirlwind of magic, fated mates, and a shit tonne of sex.
It was one of those books where you immediately know how it’s going to go down but you enjoy the ride anyway. It’s not unique or earth shattering by any means, but it’s still a fun read nonetheless.
Let’s break it down.
Writing:
I absolutely loved the premise. Most reverse harem I read is indie released so it was refreshing to see one trad published.
The entire thing was very digestible and easy to get lost in. I really enjoyed her writing style, which struck the sometimes difficult to find balance between being too simplified or too stodgy.
However, the world building was a little bit light in some places, but that’s kind of expected from a Romantasy, and I prefer that and being able to fill in the gaps myself than having it shoved down my throat.
Some of the content and wording was quite on the nose. Like the slightly obnoxious color coding to everything (kind of felt a bit elementary, trying to distinguish each man by a color) and the somewhat cliche stereotyping of each love interest. The men fell very easily into their little boxes that are common for why choose books, with each marked by very definitive characteristics and appearances.
Pacing:
We get thrown right into the action, leaving us immediately trying to guess what is going on. The thing is… you’re not left to guess for very long. I found that the author hinted far too heavily, too early on, about certain ‘plot twists’. She basically spelled it out, but maybe that’s just my pattern recognition kicking in.
I also feel like a lot was crammed into one book. Most books only have one love interest to flesh out, but trying to do 4? That’s quite the feat, and sometimes it didn’t work. I found that bits were too long when they didn’t need to be, and other important aspects that should have been fleshed out were too short or missing entirely. The entire book suffered because of this, often leaving me struggling to connect to the characters, as the author kept putting in huge 2 or 3 week time skips.
‼️ WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD ‼️
🌬️ Rylee - Female MC:
Her character sometimes seemed a bit inconsistent. She changes based on which man she is with, or which situation she is in. She kept saying she was desperate to survive and cling to life so she could find her sister, but had the self preservation of a goldfish and dropped the task of finding her sister without even really trying that hard.
There was nothing about her that made me like her or made her stick out, but she wasn’t unlikable either. Pretty chameleon-like.
Another thing… how does she know how to do things like swim and fight? When all she’s had is an upbringing in the Ashlands and no lessons or training. The reasons trying to justify it like ‘we went swimming in the lakes’ or ‘me and my sister sparred’ do make an attempt to cover this plot hole, which is more than some books do, but they fall flat and aren’t entirely believable or fleshed out.
Finally… our girl must have a magic asshole, because in that scene where they all have sex with her, they don’t prep her in any shape or form. And when, to our knowledge, she’s never done ass stuff or double pen before, it left me praying for her poor butt.
🔴 Kal - The Dreamer:
The nice one. Golden child. Seemingly perfect. Protective but also oddly passive at the same time. Delivers the whole cliche ‘I’ll catch you if you fall’ schtick.
Can fly and feel like he also had some other power but I’ve actually completely forgotten what it is already because he was so bland.
Rylee stays with him first out of the four, and they waste no time in having a cheeky snog… even though she doesn’t really seem to be that into him and keeps waffling on about Jax in her head.
But all of a sudden things go very insta love, with Rylee feeling super safe with him and seeming to fall for him without really giving us much time or space to get attached to him as readers. I mean, he’s okay. He’s fine. But maybe a little bit boring and gave off NPC energy. A lot of times he was in the room but not saying much or reacting at all. He was essentially just her comfort blankie.
The only thing that kept him interesting was the tiny crumbs of sexual deviance that were scattered around, with the public play and the mirror above his bed, but even that was pretty tame.
And the sky scene? Not sure how to feel about that. I would personally shit myself and not feel very sexy at all if I was getting railed hundreds of feet in the air. Not to mention I didn’t really understand the mechanics of how it would work either.
🔵 Axl - The Player:
Adventurous. Loud. Boisterous. Loves a wager and a game. Daddy dom vibes with a side of pirate. Definitely the least fleshed out love interest, and ended up feeling like filler.
Can manipulate water but failed to do anything remotely cool or unique with this ability. There was only a little bit of his powers used for sexual shenanigans but not much which was disappointing
Again, the lust was very insta. They seemed overly friendly and familiar from the get go. It went from not even thinking about each other in the slightest to 'wow I wanna fuck you'. Their first kiss was so quick and uneventful that I almost missed it entirely.
The wager they make is stupid. She’s never been to the sea before, or been on a boat. Yet she’s ready to go out into the middle of the ocean, on a rowboat no less? I know Axl can control water but that still seemed stupid and needlessly risky. My point was proved when she almost died trying to save a random sea creature (who Axl could have easily saved on his own) despite all her bravado about surviving to find her sister.
It also seems unfair that she had so much one-on-one time with Kal, but her first time having sex with Axl is a threesome? And then we skip forward 3 weeks, meaning we get no time to bond with him as readers, yet he’s already in love with her. Can’t help but feel poor Axl got short changed.
🟢 Pierce - The Mind:
Logical. Thoughtful. To the point. Has a cheeky and flirty side. Honestly, I found it hard to distinguish him from Jax. They have the same vibe, except Pierce is less grumpy and he kind of faded into the background at first when compared to the other Legends. But boy oh boy does he turn that around. Think he might actually be my favorite now.
The two week time skip was again, very jarring. It also confused me why she jumped into bed with the other guys straight away, yet didn’t sleep with Pierce for ages. Calling it a ‘game of anticipation’ seemed a bit of a flimsy excuse to make it work with the plot. And also saying that it gave them time to develop their emotional bond (without actually showing them developing this bond) left me super unsatisfied. Not to mention it’s a bit of a middle finger to Axl who she slept with straight away awhile also seeming to develop no emotional bond with.
But the wait for the sex was WORTH IT. Turned out to be the best scene of all of them (but that might be personal preference). His mental power in the bedroom? HOT. Their dynamics and chemistry? DOUBLE HOT.
Example one:
“Your mind, body, and heart belong to me. So do what I say and come.”
Example two:
“You don’t need to be on your knees for me.”
“What part of this position do you think is about you?”
Yum. More Pierce please.
⚫ Jax - The Nightmare:
Dangerous. Tortured Soul. Emotional manipulator. Embodies the ‘touch her and die’ trope. He literally makes someone piss and shit themselves from fear. Gives major Rhysand vibes in his court of nightmares persona.
Right off the bat, the book was unfairly weighted towards him. Even when Rylee was supposed to be getting to know the other Legends and having her one-on-one time with them, all her mind did was keep flitting back Jax.
Not that I minded because he’s the one that actually interested me at first. We love a brooding man. But it does throw off the principle of a reverse harem when everything seems to lead back to him. This is only further demonstrated when all the final chapters were from his POV and not any of the other Legends.
Because the stubborn bastard pushed her away for most of the book. I was practically frothing at the mouth for Rylees month with him, and when it came I was… disappointed.
It started off with potential, with him closed off and ruthless and her needing to crack him open. But he breaks within only a couple of pages, which felt very unsatisfying and anticlimactic.
Then, in his little playroom of debauchery, they tell each other they love each other straight away? Which is incredibly off brand for him, but also a massive kick in the teeth for all the other Legends, as he is the first one she’s said it to even though he’s been a complete dick. And in this playroom they barely even do any playroom stuff. The whole book hinted at him having really fucked up tastes in the bedroom, yet they just do a bit of restraints and he cuts her clothes off. And that’s it.
Bring back Pierce, is what I say.
The Ending:
It all happened way too fast. The reveals were laid out as I thought they would be, with her sister being part of the Faders, and the kings trying to kill her. I also expected her to die and come back to life. Which she did… not once, but twice. Since there’s going to be a second book I can confidently say she will be fine, leaving the double fake-out feeling a little bit cheap.
Would I read again? Probably not, once was enough
Would I recommend it? Yes, depending on what kind of read someone was looking for.
My star rating: ★★★★
Note: I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
My unhinged book rating system:
★★★★★+ fucking fantastic, give me ten more like it. Bury me with it. First thing I'd save if my house was on fire.
★★★★★ sheeesh this shit was good. Would definitely buy a special edition of it for my trophy shelf and rant about it to my book bestie.
★★★★ a fun read. Not necessarily the best thing to ever grace this good earth, but would check out other works from this author.
★★★ this was not my cup of tea (or glass of wine) but it had some redeemable qualities that made me keep reading.
★★ well… that was definitely a thing. This book was just not it for me. Most likely forced myself to finish while crying on the inside.
★ what the ever loving fuck were my eye balls just forced to perceive? DNF’d and metaphorically chucked out the window.
Disclaimer: Writing a book is an incredible feat and I admire anyone who has managed it. This is just my personal opinion - take it or toss it as you see fit.

I’m still not over this one, and I think it’s going to be safely taking the place of my favourite book of the year because that’s just how much of a hold this has got on me!! If i could, i would have genuinely given this one more than 5 stars!
It’s full of everything I love to see in a book, and so many entertaining and spicy tropes too! We’re talking;
- why choose romance
- LOTS of Spice
- Interesting Magic Systems
- Goddesses & Immortal beings
- 4 Cocky Princes
- Touch Her And Die
I loved this one so much that it’s actually hard for me to put into words just how freaking good this book was, and just how much I enjoyed every aspect of this book, watching the plot unfold, and seeing the characters grow to really care for each other in the end (BEFORE THAT CLIFFHANGER THAT LITERALLY DESTROYED ME)
This is SUPER fast paced, I flew through it and simply couldn’t put it down. Everything that was mentioned really felt like it was brought up for a reason, and the banter between all of the characters later on really helped to keep things interesting when there was so much happening in the background.
This one is defiantly a Romantasy that leans heavily to the smutty/spicy side, but it wasn’t just smut without plot. There was so much world building happening, so much character development / growth, and so many times where you could kind of predict which way the story was going to go in. BUT there is also a ton of spice in it because this is a why choose romance book, with 4 different love interests who all want the girl.
I really really really loved the structure of this one too! I know that’s such an odd thing to mention in a review but I feel like it played a really huge role in just how easy this book was to read and understand.
Overall this is split (more or less) into 6 parts, with 6 very distinct splits in the book.
There’s the very beginning where everything is set up, all the world building takes place, we’re introduced to the characters and the general direction for the plot is given to us. You meet all of the main characters and some really interesting side characters, as well as the current Kings who rule this continent together.
The next 4 parts of this book focus almost entirely on the FMC spending time with each of the MMCs alone in the city that they look after.
I think it was this part that I really liked the most, and this kind of way of splitting things up that I thought was genius! We got to see so many sides to the FMC as well as how she interacts with each of the guys on her own, but we also got to see all of these relationships develop so sweetly and uniquely over the course of a month (before she would go to the next city and be with the next guy)
There were times where they were all meeting up together so we were constantly around all of the characters, but IT WAS JUST SO GOOD ok?!?!
While all of this is happening and the FMC is learning to care for each of these guys, there’s also a lot happening in the background with the bigger aspect of the plot. So many things that they have to solve or find out, and so many fights that they’re engaging in with a rebel faction that is trying to kill these 4 princes (so that they can’t come into their full power by bonding with the FMC)
The final part was the most devastating for me because again, that cliffhanger was diabolical and I didn’t see it coming at all! I genuinely thought things were going to be fine and all work itself out, that the cliffhanger wouldn’t be that bad at all. Nope. It was devastating in the best way possible because I know that book 2 is going to be an INSANE time and I am fully here for it!!

It’s fast paced, simple world building, enough to understand the story and setting. Easy read that had me completely hooked.
it’s more leaning towards smutty, especially for a traditional published book.
Really enjoyed the trails, the princes and the FMC Rylee, really interested to see what happens in book 2

The Never List by Jade Presley

I absolutely inhaled this book. This story was about 75% romance, heavily influenced by its why choose narrative, and only about 25% plot, but this breakdown did not phase me one bit when the prose was high quality and the bonds formed between Rylee and each of the Legends of Chaos powerful and soul-stirring.
The Never List centres around FMC Rylee Gray as she sneaks into the Royal Choosing Ceremony (where the four Heirs to the throne must select a shared potential mate from the masses) in the hope of finding information about her missing sister. But after being overheard voicing her dangerous opinions on the kingdom's inequality and corruption, Rylee finds herself the focus of an enigmatic masked admirer who is only spurred on by her outspoken nature. Believing she's at no risk of being chosen, with the Heirs positioned safely at a distance, Rylee and the stranger dance.
And that's all it takes. A few words exchanged and a dance shared, and Rylee finds herself inexplicably chosen as the potential mate for the four Legends of Chaos - one of whom is revealed to be her disguised dance partner. Thrown into a process she is ill prepared for, Rylee commits to making the Heirs fall in love with her in order to survive. Because Rylee Gray has secrets, and with the Dreamer, the Player, the Mind and the Nightmare focused on making her choose them, it's only a matter of time before they are ultimately revealed.
This book definitely takes inspiration from the Bonds that Tie, with intimate and unique relationships forming between the FMC and each of the Heirs. The spice was definitely a draw, with encounters varying from one on one to group escapades, but it was the heartwarming connections that Rylee formed with each male that was truly gripping. Each legend had their own power and personality, and despite the rumours surrounding their nature, the way they treat Rylee is sweet, protective, and unnervingly loyal. It was impossible not to fall for each and every one of them, even though the narrative weighting was not equally distributed, with more time spent with Kal than with Jax (a true shame).
As I said, the overarching plot definitely took a bit of a backseat in The Never List, and I found Rylee's search for her sister and the antics of the Faders to be a little underwhelming when compared with the enthralling escapades of Rylee and her mates. However, this story had me glued to the pages regardless, and I can't wait to pick up the next instalment.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
The Never List is a romantasy why choose masterpiece, because yeah if I was in Rylee’s shoes I also wouldn’t be able to pick just one (leaning towards Jax though 👀).
Four powerful princes, one choosing ceremony where they select a potential mate. Once selected, Rylee has to spend a month with each immortal prince in their respective cities. But she doesn’t go alone, she takes with her a secret, a secret so big that it could damn them all.
This book. This book! It was super fast paced with lots of spice sprinkled in so if anyone is looking for their next romantasy read, look no further. But just beware the cliffhanger will make you scream and beg for book two to materialise immediately.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quercus books for this eARC. I leave this review honestly and voluntarily.

"To the readers who always struggle to pick a
favorite book boyfriend. Don't worry-- here, you'll
never have to choose. It's okay to love them all."
The dedication already says it all!
The book has an interesting premise. Rylee, the main character, is sneaking into "The Choosing" to gain information about her missing sister. "The Choosing" is a party where the 4 sons of the kings, the "Legends," pick a mate. That ends up to be Rylee.
I think what would describe the book best is "all smut, little plot."
Yes, the book does have a warning about being spicy in the very beginning. But in my opinion, it was a little unrealistic how quickly that happened. Rylee doesn't even know the Legends but is happy to engage with any of them right off the bat. I would have personally loved it if we could have gotten some bonding moments first or if the plot would have been more fleshed out as it was a GOOD plot and honestly intriguing.
Apart from that, i do like all of the characters. I liked the story enough to read the sequel as it was an overall easy and fast read.
If you're ever in between books and you're looking for something quick and easy, I think this is it. But if all spice and no plot isn't your thing, then this won't work for you.

When Fate Hands You Four Princes…
Rylee is the fated mate for four princes. Yes, four. Because one would just be too easy. These royal heartthrobs NEED her to save their kingdom from internal and external threats—but mostly, they just need her. And, naturally, they are all devastatingly attractive, deeply devoted to her from the moment they spend any amount of time with her, and conveniently represent four different romantic archetypes.
Rylee, for her part, is a classic romantay heroine: forthright, stunningly beautiful, more powerful than she realises, and, well… not exactly overflowing with unique traits. But who needs personality when you have four insanely devoted royal suitors and a destiny to fulfil?
Meet the Line-Up:
🔥 Kal – Sweet, warm, the guy who actually listens when you talk and gives you a hug when you need one.
😈 Axl – Fun-loving, chaotic energy, the one most likely to convince you to do naughty things and thoroughly enjoy it.
🧐 Pierce – Intellectual, magnetic, definitely the romantic guy.
💀 Jax – Dark, dangerous, the broodiest of them all… and obviously, the hottest. He's the one with the most 'tough her and die' energy.
As part of her whole mate-to-save-the-kingdom journey, Rylee has to stay with each of them in their respective kingdoms. This is where we get some world-building and plot, though let’s be honest—the focus is very much on her relationships rather than intricate political intrigue. There is a sub-plot regarding Rylee's sister that takes up some space, but it's mostly about Rylee falling deeply in love with her princes and wanting to help save them and their kingdoms. And honestly? That’s exactly what I signed up for.
The Verdict?
This book is spicy, fun, and exactly what you’d expect from a high-heat romantasy. Did I feel deep emotional investment? Not particularly. Will I immediately grab book two? Probably.
Did I get the palate-cleansing, why-choose escapism I wanted? Absolutely.
Just a note - this book does end on a cliffhanger so be aware there is no HEA in this one.
3.5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ rounding up to ⭐⭐⭐⭐
ARC provided by NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

The Never List, book 1 in the series, is all about the romance and ends with leaving us on the edge of our seat, ready for the action that the plot teases to really begin! I can't wait for book 2 for the plot to really thicken 😉
We follow Rylee as she navigates being the potential mate for all four 'Legends' while keeping her own secrets that could ruin it all. As readers, we have four delicious MMCs to lust over, in great detail, including being treated to chapters from each of their POVs 😈 My only criticism would be that the promise that one or two of them would have darker appetites and would 'ruin her', never came to fruition.
While I did enjoy reading this, I did feel like the plot fell away a little in favour of spicy scenes until the last couple of chapters. Little more plot in book 2 please, Jade 🤞
