The U.K. Prime Minister, Suzannah Armstrong has been poisoned with polonium. Her personal secretary, Bebe Daniels points the blame to Ayesha Ryder. The deputy Prime Minister, Noel Malcolm plans on taking control of the country. He wants to find the Maltese Falcon statue because he believes it leads to a clue to the legendary Harold’s Sword. He has ordered everyone to find Ayesha to retrieve the statue and kill her. Ayesha has teamed up with Joram Tate, a librarian. Together they are following clues to stop the madmen and their plans for England. Along the way, they are joined by archeologist Niobe Bagot and Vicar Caroline Foster.

The book has a fast pace, the characters are somewhat developed, and it is written in the third person point of view.
