The magic system in this book was really cool and the concept is really interesting! The characters in this book were wonderful as individuals but I also liked their romance and connection a lot! the one thing I didn't like is how repetitive it got with their struggles and the things they had to deal with. The pacing was definitely confusing throughout this book though.

This is the second book in the series but that doesn’t matter. I will be going back and reading the first one though because I loved this one said so so much.
Enemies to lovers isn’t my favorite trope generally but I adored this will they won’t had me FLYING through this book. I cannot wait for more!

I’m going to be completely honest I completely forgot this witchy romcom series existed until I saw it to request on NetGalley. I read the first book in this series what feels like forever ago so I honestly didn’t think we were going to get any more. Then was pleasantly surprised to see it up on NetGalley. Then was ecstatic to jump back into the Sherwood sisters witchy world.
Now I’m going to be honest when I first started this book I was a tad bit confused. Because like I mentioned it had been a hot minute since I read the first book. And even though book 2 follows a different sister. There are still interconnected issues being woven into the entire series. So it took me about a good 30% into the book to really get my grasp of what happened previously. But once I got back in the swing of things I had a fun time reading a witchy romcom filled with enemies-to-lovers, morally gray men, and a close-proximity marriage.
Here’s what I liked about the book:
- The magic system! I found the concept to be unique and interesting.
- Leona & Erik, I loved them as individuals and I loved them as a couple. Both characters felt extremely relatable and dealing with immense family pressures. I love how even though the burden they both carry is extremely heavy it’s still ok to lean on others and through their road trip they learn they are stronger together.
Now onto the thing that I didn’t enjoy about this book:
- Now don’t get me wrong I loved Leona & Erik. However, a lot of there struggles felt repetitive. It was so repetitive that there was multiple times I thought I had re-read the same part multiple times. Only to discover nope we are just doing this again and again.
- Also I don’t know about you guys but for a romcom this how a lot of inner monologue. Like I’m all down for inner characters thoughts and feelings but this was just too much and I wanted more inner personal interactions with our main couple.
- Which brings me to the pacing. The pacing to me was all over the place. The first 30% was great, then from there until about 70% it was extremely slow.
- Lastly the epilogue. I don’t want to spoil anything but I hated how the epilogue was done in book 1 and it seems the author decided to stay on trend and do it exactly like book 1. Like don’t get me wrong I’m all down for a good fourth wall break but it does have to be executed well. And for this book I’m sad to say it wasn’t done well.
Overall, Would I recommend this book? Even though it wasn’t my favorite in the series I’d have to say Yes. It’s an easy quick fun read and I think fans of the first book will be excited to get back into the Sherwood sister’s lives. Lastly big Thank you Berkley Publishing & NetGalley for providing me an ARC to read and review.

3.5⭐️
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

omg i didn’t realize this was part of a series! inadvertently starting with the second book (don’t have to be read in order though), i got a steamy enemies to lovers moment, unique magic system, and found family- i need to read the rest of the series asap! she was cute but it felt like there were a couple things lacking, i wish we had delved DEEPER into their personal issues as it felt like we kept rehashing instead of reaching a compromise?? other than that, very enjoyable!!

This book is a captivating blend of enemies-to-lovers, morally gray main character, and a close-proximity romance.
Leona and Erik come from families that are as different as night and day, with a long history of rivalry between them.
Leona, as the heir to a powerful family, is an heir that has too much pressure on her shoulders . She feels obligated to always prioritize what’s best for her family and Witchingdom, never putting herself first. Her responsibility as the heir is to choose a marriage that benefits her family, even if it means picking from a group of suitors handpicked by her mother. Despite her heart longing for someone she knows she shouldn’t want.
Erik, on the other hand, hails from a deceitful and untrustworthy family. His life is spent manipulating situations to secure an advantage and is always looking for a loophole, and his latest scheme is designed to protect his siblings from their ruthless father. But as he gets closer to Leona, he realizes he's falling for the one witch he knows he can never truly have.
Here’s what I liked about the book: The unique concept of each witch having a distinct magical scent was a nice touch. I enjoyed the concept of the story and the world. The characters felt relatable, especially in how the pressure from their families shaped their actions. It’s something many readers can identify with — the weight of family reputation and expectations.
However, there were a few things that didn’t work for me. The internal struggles of both characters felt a bit repetitive at times, with an excess of inner monologue that slowed the pacing. The sexual tension, while intense, felt overly drawn out. I also didn’t enjoy the "breaking the fourth wall" moments where the characters seemed to speak directly to me. Additionally, the epilogue gave away too much about the series’ conclusion. While it suggests that you can follow each sister’s journey in the subsequent books, it kind of spoiled it to me. There was also an amulet called a time Keeper introduced, and I was expecting it to play a significant role, but nothing came of it in this book. I’m not sure if it’s forgotten or if it’ll be important later in the series.
Thank you Berkley Publishing Group for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This book is a sizzling cauldron of magic, mischief, and the second-chance romance. Leona and Erik’s love-hate dynamic crackles with tension as they navigate a road trip filled with mythical mayhem, reluctant teamwork, and undeniable chemistry. With spellbinding banter, steamy moments, and just the right amount of chaos, this witchy rom-com is pure enchantment. Highly recommending it.
