Amazing book, so many recipes, absolutely mouthwatering.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

I recently have not been reviewing many such books mostly because I do not send up finishing them before their expiry. They are timed advance review copies. Although I did not try any recipes from this as well I had to review it for the revelations it brought to light for me!
The book covers the history of bread. It talks of flours, mills, how whole grain and just whole wheat differs. It takes the parallel of milk in many markets with its different fat options and how it comes about to talk about milling. I never realised how focused I was on ‘darker flours’ without realising what I was missing.
I highly recommend this book more as a bread lover than a Bread Baker. It has enough information to fuel several conversations.
I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience and love of bread!

Baking bread is so soothing and its own philosophy! And this book gives such great instructions and recipes.

This is an amazing book. My daughter and i had a lot of fun making some of the breads. They tasted great, and for the first time time my bread was actually edible, which is a testament to these recipes.

I was so impressed with all the details in this book. The author took great time explaining so much. The recipes all seemed manageable no matter your skill.

Bread was a great resource for this beginner bread maker! It had a huge variety of recipes and a ton of interesting information! I especially loved the photographs included and how they capture bread and the movement of baking bread so stunningly.

There seems to be a trend toward making bread at home, whether it be in an automatic bread machine or trendy sourdough loaves. Cider Mill Press has released an excellent cookbook, Bread: The Ultimate Cookbook, that is filled with almost every type of bread you can imagine, including sourdough, yeast breads, and quick breads. It includes history of bread, a glossary of grains and pulses, information on ingredients, and techniques, and a section in the back of the book showcasing successful bakeries and interesting information about them. There are recipes for breads popular around the world, including Foccacia and pizza. The loaves range from plain yeast and sourdough, and include whole grain breads, white breads, vegetable breads, chocolate breads and holiday breads.
The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first. Followed by step-by-step instructions which are easy to follow. There are also notes at the top of each recipe explaining where it’s from and how it’s served. While it’s got specific instructions on how to make the doughs by hand or by mixer, the recipes are easy to adapt to an automatic bread machine – either to make the dough or to bake as a loaf. The cookbook also includes beautiful, mouthwatering photographs of most of the recipes.
All told, this cookbook has enough recipes that everyone will find something appealing that they want to make. There are seemingly hundreds of recipes.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I LOVE BREAD! lol I think that may be the one thing that I could eat for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. My bread love is so serious there is a whole tier ranking system that I go by and best to worst for any and every situation. A Fantastic Resource for Bread Lovers – A must-have for Beginners and Pros Alike!
Rating: ★★★★☆
This is a comprehensive, well-organized book that offers an abundance of recipes and expert tips for bakers of all skill levels. Whether you're a complete novice or an experienced home baker, this book provides the guidance and inspiration needed to elevate your bread-making game.
One of the book's standout features is its variety—over 300 recipes that cover everything from basic white loaves to more intricate artisan creations. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re craving a simple sandwich loaf, a hearty sourdough, or even sweet bread like cinnamon rolls. The detailed instructions are clear and easy to follow, making even the more advanced recipes approachable.
The book also does a great job of breaking down key techniques, such as kneading, proofing, and scoring, with helpful tips for ensuring each loaf turns out perfectly. The section on troubleshooting is particularly useful for when things don’t go according to plan.
My only slight critique is that while the recipes are diverse, some might find the length of certain instructions a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re new to baking. Additionally, a few recipes require specific ingredients that may be difficult to find depending on your location, but this is a minor issue given the overall quality of the content. However, this book offers an abundance of recipes and expert tips for bakers of all skill levels. Whether you're a complete novice or an experienced home baker, this book provides the guidance and inspiration needed to elevate your bread-making game.

It’s impossible to discuss bread without acknowledging the vital role of grains in its creation, and this book doesn’t shy away from highlighting their significance. Grains grown in India, such as wheat, barley and millets, have long been at the heart of bread making. These grains, nurtured in India’s rich agricultural landscape, have played a crucial role in spreading the art of bread-making to all corners of the world. Thanks to the ingenuity of Indian farmers and bakers since eras back, we’ve been gifted with a rich diversity of bread, from flatbreads to intricate loaves, with textures and flavors that are unmatched. Without the early cultivation of these grains, we might never have tasted such mouthwatering, complex breads as we do today—each loaf carries a part of history that dates back to the heart of India.
Overall, this book is an excellent addition to any kitchen, especially for those passionate about improving their bread-making skills. If you love the smell of freshly baked bread and the satisfaction of homemade loaves, this book will be a true treasure. Highly recommended! One could have even open their own bakery after readng this, for starters.

Unburdening Bread making
Making bread has always seemed like such a tedious and temperamental process to me. This book breaks down the foundations of the whys of bread making, based on flour types, etc. before getting into the recipes themselves. It was written in a very approachable and digestible manner.
Since reading this book, I definitely feel like the bread making process isn’t as rigid as I previously perceived it to be.
The book had some photographs throughout.
I received a copy of this book from the Editors of Cider Mill Press and Cider Mill Press. I have elected to leave a review. All opinions are my own.

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but as I plan do bake bread more often by myself I will definitely try. I'm quite new to baking bread, especially sourdough, but I like the broad variety of bread from around the globe as well as the structure of the book.

The cookbook is exceptionally thorough and walks the reader through not only the important steps of baking bread but also discusses the reasoning behind why we do it. There is both history and education coupled with great beginners recipes.

The fundamentals of bread...
I was hoping to learn how to bake bread. I planned to start with a simple focaccia. This book was perfectly timed for my very beginners foray into turning flour and water into....bread. This books provides the knowledge and techniques to be successful when adding flour, water and yeast to get bread. From sourdough, to flatbreads and way more, the reader gets a thorough introduction to bread and bread making. Then a large recipe from around the world rounds out your knowledge base. The editors at Cider Mill Press really are putting out the best cookbooks.
Highly recommend.

If you're even thinking about baking bread, this book belongs on your counter (not your shelf—you’ll be using it too often). Bread: The Ultimate Cookbook is more than a recipe collection; it’s a global tour of tradition, technique, and irresistible carbs.
With over 300 recipes—from crusty sourdough and pillowy challah to trendy Japanese milk bread—this book has something for every baker. The step-by-step guidance on kneading, proofing, and baking is clear and approachable, making it ideal for beginners, yet challenging and inspiring enough for seasoned pros.
Bonus points for the deep dives into flour types, temperature tricks, and timing tips. This is the kind of book that makes your kitchen smell amazing and your friends a little jealous. Whether you're baking your first loaf or hunting for your next signature recipe, this cookbook is a warm, crusty must-have.

Wow I didn’t realize how many different bread recipes there are! I enjoyed going through this and can’t wait to try them. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy.
