Thank you Netgalley and CamCat Books for the chance to read The Premonitions Club by Gwendolyn Womack. This is the author's YA debut novel, and I think she definitely needs to write more! I have not read any of her adult books, but will definitely read them in the future. Once I started, I could not put the book down, and enjoyed reading about Liv and her friends discovering boxes of letters addressed to The Premonitions Bureau that was hidden in her Grandfather's attic.
But opening the boxes set off a chain reaction, that put their lives in jeopardy, when the discovery is posted online. It alerts a black ops group in charge of the military’s paranormal research, and they must rely on each other, and their psychic abilities to get out of trouble. The ending felt a little rushed, but I felt it was set up for a sequel! If you love to read YA and about psychics, and the supernatural, I recommend The Premonitions Club.

Wow- what a fantastic debut novel- the perfect blending of science fiction and young adult genres was well executed in the story.
In the premonitions club, a group of teenagers stumble across long forgotten predictions from the past and as a result become a target of bad operatives with a power hungry leader working against the greater good of humanity.
The plot was flawless and immersive, the characters in the story varied and all uniquely written (with their different personalities and abilities), the settings were interesting giving Divergent vibes throughout the story. I also enjoyed the budding romance between two of the main characters which was sweet without being too fluffy or over the top.
I will gladly read more works by this author down the track.
Thankyou to both Net galley and Camcat books for an early copy of this book.

Gwendolyn Womack’s The Premonitions Club is a gripping blend of paranormal mystery, young adult adventure, and psychological depth. Set in the early 1990s, this novel introduces readers to a group of teenagers whose lives are turned upside down when they uncover an old collection of psychic predictions. What begins as an innocent discovery soon escalates into a dangerous game with forces beyond their control.
Plot and Themes: The story centers around Liv Hall, a young woman grappling with the loss of her grandfather. While sorting through his belongings, she and her friends—Forester, Nebony, Winnie, and Jaxon—stumble upon letters sent to the mysterious Premonitions Bureau, an organization dedicated to collecting and analyzing psychic predictions. These letters, written by a series of precognitive individuals over decades, set in motion a chain of events that leads the group into a thrilling and perilous adventure.
As they unravel the mysteries behind the premonitions, the teens are forced to confront their own psychic abilities and the moral dilemmas that arise from knowing the future. What ensues is a race against time as they battle a covert military faction intent on exploiting these powers for their own gain. Through these twists and turns, Womack explores themes of destiny, fate, and the ethical implications of foreseeing the future.
Character Development: One of the strengths of The Premonitions Club is the strong character development. Liv, the protagonist, is not only relatable but complex—her journey is both external (dealing with the supernatural and the threats that come with it) and internal (coming to terms with her newfound psychic powers). Her relationships with her friends add emotional depth to the narrative. Each of the secondary characters—Forester, Nebony, Winnie, and Jaxon—bring their own unique traits and backstories to the story, making the group dynamic feel genuine and engaging.
Writing Style and Pacing: Womack’s writing style is immersive and fast-paced, drawing readers into the mystery from the first page. The novel maintains a steady momentum, balancing action-packed sequences with reflective moments that allow for emotional connection. The dialogue feels natural and engaging, and the narrative flows seamlessly between mystery and suspense, keeping readers hooked until the very end.
The Supernatural Elements: The psychic abilities at the heart of The Premonitions Club are explored thoughtfully and with nuance. Womack doesn’t simply use the paranormal elements as a gimmick, but rather integrates them into the characters' growth and the central themes of the story. The psychic visions are depicted in a way that feels both thrilling and disorienting, capturing the complexity of knowing the future while being powerless to change it.
Conclusion: The Premonitions Club is a captivating read that will appeal to fans of paranormal mysteries, coming-of-age stories, and high-stakes thrillers. Gwendolyn Womack masterfully weaves together elements of suspense, supernatural intrigue, and character-driven storytelling. The result is a novel that is both thrilling and thought-provoking, perfect for readers who enjoy a mix of mystery, adventure, and emotional depth.
Womack’s debut into the young adult genre is a successful one, offering a fresh take on the psychic genre and setting up the potential for further stories. If you enjoy stories about fate, friendship, and the supernatural, The Premonitions Club is a must-read.

Even though the book took me a little bit to get hooked, once I did I was hooked I couldn’t put it down. It is a fun and fast paced YA read. All of the different character perspectives made it hard to follow at times BUT each one had good character development throughout the book. Definitely worth your time! While it might not be the exact same it made me think of the Wake trilogy by Lisa McMann in some ways.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC read ◡̈

I'm not really one to read too many YA's but in this case I'm glad I did. From the beginning this book moves at a decent pace it was hard to put down. The characters were great together and I really enjoyed their individual backstories.

Really enjoyed this story!
It definitely gave me Charmed/X Men vibes and would love to see this as a TV show or film. I think the action was written really well and I was invested in the characters very quickly. Sometimes it felt like a lot was going on but I think the One Character chapters helped with that. I would enjoy a sequel with the next generation. Will definitely recommend to my students.

4.5⭐️
Wow!! I really enjoyed this!! This is a YA book but I think it’s unique enough where it will have further reach than the intended audience.
This multi POV book drew me in from the first chapter and it kept me flipping the pages to know what happens. I love the supernatural/ magical realism genre as a whole but have never read a book that focused on premonitions as its own main plot device and I am here for it!
Not only did I enjoy the promotion part of it but also the history added in and the thriller plot line just pulled it all together into a fun fast paced read which left me wanting more.
One thing that I really loved was at the end of the book it had a “The Premonition’s Club Handbook” which has section on the various disciplines that the book touches on. I loved that it was interactive . I found out my “life path “ number is a 2 and the description of it is spot on!
I loved trying some of the activities as a 47 year old and knew that I would have ate this up as a teen!
I’ll also mention that the book while it has relationship mentions, it has no spice and it’s completely appropriate for younger readers to consume. I would be comfortable having my middle grade child reading it without issue insofar as its content.
My only critique was the ending where I feel like it #1 got a little rushed for how much new information was offered and #2 it got a little too “out there” for me. That being said the unbelievability of it may have been made better had a little more set up happened beforehand. I don’t want to say more as not to give spoilers!
That all being said, it did potentially set things up for a series which I would be first in line for! This title comes out April 22nd 2025 and I highly suggest preordering it or putting it high on your TBR.
I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary eARC from CamCat Books through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

I really enjoyed this book!
It was different than anything I’ve read and I’ve always been interested in the psychic stuff. I’ve never read such an action packed book but it kept me hooked from the very first page! The writing was great and the characters were likable. I think it’s definitely set up for a sequel! This was my first read from this author but I’m excited to read all the other ones! I really liked the handbook!! So cool!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC copy!!

TL/DR -
- [ ] High Schoolers with Psychic abilities
- [ ] Boxes of odd/old letters
- [ ] Not everything should be posted online
- [ ] A mystery and events set into motion long ago
- [ ] This book is YA but it doesn’t mean that those of us not in the target audience won’t enjoy it.
- [ ] This was a blast!
“The Premonitions Club” was everything I had hoped for and more.
The cover caught my eye and the description drew me in.
Oh, the awkwardness and angst of teenagers. I think the author conveyed it perfectly. I also loved the “unique” snacks that were in the house and how embarrassed they made Liv, one of the FMC. It made me laugh out loud.
This book may have started a little slow for some readers, but I liked the pacing. It wouldn’t have felt natural otherwise.
There are so many things I want to say about this book but they would be spoilers and I don’t want any reader to miss out on the journey Liv and her friends take.
This story is multiple POV, but not hard to follow. The characters are all flawed in some way, I mean, it’s high school. Very few people are comfortable in their own skins.
The friendships and relationships between the characters were real and not forced. I also loved how something found led them on a journey, not just for a mystery but a discovery of themselves and learning to embrace their “abilities” even when new ones seem to be croping up.
I love that this is a YA book with psychic abilities and intrigue and a chess game that has been going on for years that they didn’t even know they were a part of.
Not everyone in the book gets a HEA and that’s ok, really. I probably could have read this in one sitting, but you know, adulting.

I really, really enjoyed reading this book! I didn't immediately realize it was a YA. A good story is a good story. Paranormal Sci-fi that is planned well with character development is a rare find. The definitions at the beginning of the chapters was a nice touch.
Thank you to CamCat Books and Gwendolyn Womack for the opportunity read this ARC for an honest review.

I was hooked on The Premonitions Club pretty quickly! It starts a bit slow, but as the mysteries unfold, it becomes impossible to put down. The whole concept of the Premonition Bureau, based on the actual British Premonitions Bureau, adds a fascinating layer. I loved how the author wrote in CIA FOIA documents on remote viewing - the research shows.
The characters feel real and relatable. At first, they seem like typical high school archetypes, but as the story progresses, they gain unexpected depth. There are also plenty of twists that kept me guessing, making for an engaging and immersive read.
With an eerie atmosphere and a well-paced mystery, this is a great pick for YA, supernatural thriller, and paranormal fiction fans. I definitely recommend it!
I appreciate NetGalley and CamCat Books for the opportunity to read this early copy!

From the moment I picked up Premonitions Club, I was hooked. This fast-past written YA novel had me flipping pages late into the night.
Womack weaves a blend of suspense, adventure, and supernatural intrigue. The characters were compelling, and the pacing was perfect- never a dull moment!
If you love books that keep you guessing with a touch of the supernatural, Premonitions Club is a must-read. I didn’t want to put it down, and I already know this is one I’ll be recommending to everyone.
I received an ARC of Premonitions Club and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Gwendolyn Womack’s The Premonitions Club is a captivating blend of mystery, adventure, and the supernatural that immediately draws you in. The story follows a group of friends who unwittingly stumble into a mystery that turns their everyday lives upside down. What I really appreciated was how the book weaves together elements of suspense and the unknown, keeping me guessing at every turn.
The narrative is fast-paced, with a creative premise that makes you want to uncover the secrets hidden in the past. At times, the pace felt a little brisk, leaving me yearning for a bit more detail in some moments, but overall, it added to the sense of urgency and excitement throughout the read.
In the end, The Premonitions Club is a fresh and engaging take on the supernatural mystery genre. It’s a 4-star read in my book—a solid choice for anyone who loves a good, thought-provoking mystery that keeps you on your toes.

Absolutely loved this book. I sat down and started reading and did not move until the last page. The pace was quick the characters had deep motivations and all were interesting. I hope that this will turn into a series because I want to know what happens next.
Thank you Net Galley and CamCat Books for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I thought this book was great. The characters all had unique voice and backstory that gave them depth.
I also was really pulled into the concept of there being a club that people would write premonitions to. Ultimately, everyone craves connection - even when having visions of the future.
The ending was unique, with the idea of machines disrupting the human aspect of future telling. I do wish it had been a little bit more detailed, but it was still enjoyable.

This book was a well put together piece of work. It an an extremely easy read, which doesn’t mean anything bad. It wasn’t overly confusing, it didn’t add too much depth, detail, and over explaining, it used just enough to convey the story and what the author wanted to get out. It works very well.
The story is very well written and intriguing. The mystery behind premonitions and the following story gripped me harder than I’d like to admit. Because of this. I didn’t have time to guess what would happen, I was too busy getting invested in the story. It’s chill, quirky, had cute moments, had sad moments, and had some exciting action. It also gave me huge Breakfast Club vibes, a group of teens from all different walks of life coming together not knowing how their lives were going change on one fateful afternoon.
That fact that this story is so closely related to the realm of possibly in reality, makes it so much more convincing of a read. Especially when adding the handbook at the end. It made the story as real as humanly possible and almost makes me want to study more into the human ability.
Overall it is an easy read. And some people might be put off by that. Don’t be. It’s a quick and short book that can easily be read in a few hours without leaving you confused about what’s happening. The author does it very well in very few words.

This was an amazing YA debut. I absolutely loved it! I was a bit worried at first because this definitely veers younger YA as the main characters are still in high school. However, this book grabbed my attention from the start and didn’t let go. I zoomed through this book. The book starts off with our main character, Liv having to clear out the attic after her grandfather has passed. With the help of some friends, they uncover boxes of letters addressed to the premonitions bureau. These letters describe different events through the years that have been predicted with accuracy from varying psychics who have sent their premonitions into this bureau that is now closed. Suddenly, this group of teenagers finds themselves embroiled in a mystery pertaining to where these letters came from and who wants them. The book is written in multiple POV‘s so you get a glimpse into each of the characters and almost from the get-go the action is nonstop. I couldn’t wait to unravel the mystery. I loved how interconnected the characters became and how encompassing the overall mystery was as well. The detailed explanations of different types of psychics was fascinating as well. And while this book is fiction, there are many points that make you wonder if they could be true. I do believe that there are people with varying forms of psychic ability, and this book really delves into varying elements that could be possible in reality. If the description interests you at all, I highly recommend for a quick fascinating read. I loved this author’s writing and will be looking into her previous adult novels in the future.

I really enjoyed this YA fiction book and finished it one sitting. The characters were very well developed, and the plot was something that I could imagine happening in today’s world, especially with AI. It is public knowledge that the government has always investigated or researched the ideas of people being psychics. Winnie, Matty, Jaxon, Nebony and Forester are helping Liv move some planks from the attic and They find a bunch of boxes that say DO NOT OPEN. So, of course they open the boxes, what they find our letters about premonitions that were collected by the Premonitions Bureau from 1960’s to 1990’s. As they go through these letters they find three contributors, Mad Merlin, Nostradamus and the Oracle of Delphi whose premonitions were accurate. Nebony decides to post their group and talk about the letters on social media, that is when the trouble begins for the group. Before you know it, our group is embroiled in a dangerous journey to solve who are Mad Merlin, Nostradamus and the Oracle of Delphi. Will our young group of teens solve this mystery and survive to tell another story. Thank you to Netgalley and Camcat Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. The characterization was well done with a situations young adults in their last years of high school face such as how it feels to be a bit odd and not fit in with very many other people, and having a crush on someone who doesn't seem to know you're alive. Of course, I wasn't talking about psychic abilities! While some people are more tuned into things like that, not everyone is.
I like how the author added descriptions of different psychic abilities and also came up with characters that had some of them. There were a number of suspenseful scenes, and honestly they could have gone either way. The addition of AI also made the story current.
Good job!

Having loved Gwendolyn Womack's The Fortune Teller a few years back, I gladly took on her YA debut, The Premonitions Club. It's the story of a small group of high school students who discover some old boxes containing lists of premonitions collected by The Premonitions Bureau from the 1960s to the 1990s. The files include research on whether and when each premonition proved correct--some years after they were made. A few contributor names keep coming up, including Mad Merlin, Nostradamus, and The Oracle of Delphi--who are the real people behind the names? Before they know what's happening, the teenagers find themselves involved in a nefarious plot that endangers not only themselves but members of their families--both living and presumed missing or dead. And some of them discover unfathomable skills they didn't know they had.
From that point on, the book becomes a series of whirlwind action scenes that dominate the plot. I found it entertaining, although I would have preferred to learn more about what happens to the young characters at the end of the book. It is a rather abrupt ending, followed by the (unnecessary) information the author provides about various paranormal skills, including reading auras, numerology, palmistry, tarot and divination, and remote viewing. Also, I feel the book title (including the word "club") is designed to attract readers based on the book's YA designation, whereas it could have been a stronger title to reflect the actual content of the book.
My thanks tp CamCat Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.
