In simple, yet beautiful art, Your Baby Will Find You illustrates what loss can look like. This isn't a tour de force in recollecting an experience like a loss memoir would be, but it is a comforting source of what the loss experience entails. Madeleine Garner's book would be a great gift for a mom experiencing an early pregnancy loss - specifically a first time loss without any other children. There isn't any real closure in the story in terms of having a subsequent pregnancy, etc. which allows this to be more open-ended and helpful for other loss parents.

There is exploration of the anticipation and curiosity that comes with pregnancy - what will my baby look like and what it will be like to meet them, and what the experience is like to attend an appointment thinking you will hear a heartbeat and all of your expectations being unfulfilled. Ultimately there is hope and light, which I think is the most encouraging for women going through this experience.

Thank you to NetGalley, BenBella Books, the author Madeleine Garner, and the illustrator Giorgia Lupi for an ARC of Your Baby Will Find You in exchange for an honest review!

Beautiful art, reminded me a bit of Hervé Tullet. The end left me with questions (will the author try again, or is this a story about being content without having kids?) I think if I had just gone through this experience the book would have been more relatable. It still may be a good gift for a first time mom who just experienced an early loss.
