Enchantra leaves Phantasma’s turn of the century run down Victorian mansion in New Orleans for a remote Italian manor house deep in the country. And it’s Genevieve Grimm’s turn to play a devil’s game. Like her sister Ophelia though, she has tricks up her sleeve and cards to play. Enter Rowin, her grudging partner and mysterious shadow wielding son of the manor’s owner. They must work together for a chance at freedom, even if it’s at the cost of the rest of Rowin’s family. Another magical tale by Kaylie Smith. If Phantasma reminds me of Phantom of the Opera in a bunch of ways, I’d say Enchantra reminds me of Labyrinth. Words can be twisty, and you can never be entirely certain about what’s actually going on, but it’s beautifully romantic all the same. If you enjoyed Phantasma, absolutely read Enchantra, but if you haven’t read it, start there then come here.

Give it a read for:

* Deadly games
* Shadow daddies
* Demons, Devils, & Wraiths
* Animal familiars
* Marriage of convenience
* Family dysfunction…in spades

I will say that there was one plot point introduced that we never get an answer to. It doesn’t impact the progression of the plot, but I do think it was a missed opportunity to give more dimension to a character.

Also a thru line from Phantasma that is touched upon but barely expanded upon that leaves some book one questions still unanswered.

Hoping both of these things come back in book three, but for now, we wait.

Overall, a magical game with astronomical stakes, not for the whole world, but absolutely for our characters. Alice goes down the rabbit hole and lands smack dab in the middle of The Fall of the House of Usher. Be careful of the bargains you strike, and know your enemy.

As always, an excellent vocal performance by Laura Horowitz. I tend to listen to duel or duet narration because I tend to feel like there either is not enough distinction between voices or that the narrator playing the opposite sex either devolves into caricature or just isn’t believable. Laura is one of very few narrators I enjoy doing a book solo, and this continues to hold with Enchantra.

First and foremost, thank you so much to the publisher and author for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

Enchantra is book 2 in the Wicked Games series and it did not disappoint! Enchantra follows Ophelia’s little sister Genevieve and the Silver family, primarily Rowin Silver. Genevieve gets herself into another twisted game, this time thru no fault of her own, as she’s tricked into it. To survive this game she finds herself in a marriage of convenience to none other than Rowin Silver. The two play their way thru Enchantra as a pair in a bid to win and escape the punishment of being trapped in hell and forced to repeat the game for eternity.

Overall, Enchantra was extremely entertaining! The banter off these two was up there, and the spice was just right! Laura Horowitz did an amazing job with the narration of this one!!! Definitely worth the read and cannot wait for book 3!!!

Kalylie Smith has cast her spell on me the second time around! She wowed me with Phantasma and I continued to be enchanted, enamored, and dazzled by Enchantra! It is gripping, sexy, dark, dangerous, magical, and deadly. I was once again swept away and into the wonderful gothic world that Kaylie Smith has created. I enjoyed her cast of characters, the atmosphere, the setting (mainly in Italy), the danger, and the scent of romance in the air!

Enchantra focuses on Genevieve Grimm who intercepts an invitation meant for her mother and travels to Italy in hopes of attending a gala at a beautiful palace. But this is not Cinderella's story, it's Genevieve's story and it is far from a fairy tale!

She is met by Rowin Silver, a tall, dark, and handsome man who is incredibly rude and warns her to stay away. But she is determined, headstrong, and curious and enters the grand home. Apparently, no one warned Genevieve what curiosity did to the cat! What she finds is a dark family that is caught in a deadly and twisted game. She must play or be trapped there. She and Rowin come up with a plan and an allegiance. Genevieve will soon wonder if their wicked games will be enough to win?

Holy Moly! Fans of Phantasma will love Enchantra as well! As I mentioned it has the same dark, deadly, wicked, twisted, and sexy vibe flowing throughout the book. I was never a big fantasy book reader but there are certain authors who have cast their magical spells on me and Kaylie Smith is one of them!

I enjoyed the banter, the chemistry, the world building, the twists, the tension, the dread, the danger, and the vivid descriptions in this book. I also enjoyed the magical aspect and Genevieve's spunk and courage. Plus, this book ends in a way that in my opinion left room for another book in the series. **wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Fans of fantasy, dark romance, enemies to lovers romance books will fall head over heels for this one. I know I did.

I was lucky enough to have both the kindle and audiobook version of Enchantra!!! Laura Horowitz narrated this book (she narrated Phantasma as well) and did a fabulous job of bringing the characters to life!!

Wonderfully written, dark, sexy, and left me wanting more!!!!

<B>*AUDIOBOOK REVIEW*</b>

I had the wonderful pleasure of being able to listen to the audiobook for Enchantra.
While I'm not much of an audiobook girlie, or more-so, I'm extremely picky about my audiobooks, this one was very well produced and I thoroughly enjoyed Laura Horowitz as the narrator.
Laura did a wonderful job of building the characters, giving them a voice, while transporting you into the story. There were a few times, however, where I was unsure of which character was speaking, but with there being so many different characters, I can only imagine how tough it is to create a different accent for each one, as the only person narrating. Despite that, Laura was engaging. In the more suspenseful moments, she projected her voice to make you feel on edge. When Genevieve would go into a more southern drawl, Laura executed it wonderfully. After listening to her on this, I want to seek out other books she's narrated.

The story itself was remarkable. It didn't stray far from what Phantasma was-really it kept the same formula in a different setting. While I believe many might not enjoy that, I've read plenty of books that completely changed what made the first one so good.

I enjoyed that the stakes were still high, but we got to experience first hand how Genevieve felt growing up in Ophie's shadow, while yearning to be loved and accepted. Her defiance and ferocity was a perfect match to Rowin's gloom.
The intensity of their chemistry was top notch, despite the instant loathing. However, it was just what Genevieve needed.

When the first games started, I instantly got 'Ready or Not' vibes. I think that's why I loved it so much. That movie was incredible, and while this is marketed as having a Labyrinth feel, I didn't much get that.

Overall, I feel like Kaylie did a wonderful job of sharing Genevieve's story, understand where her recklessness truly stems from, and just how broken she really was.

The spice also did not let me down. The ebb and flow of Rowington and Genevieve and the way they fight so hard against their mutual attraction to the way that Rowington is just so eager to ruin Genevieve because deep down he is just...enchanted by her.

Also, <spoiler>the last few chapters held me on the edge of my seat. For a moment I had lost hope that there would be a semblance of hope for Rowington and Genevieve. The amnesia trope was alive in these last few chapters that had my heartbreaking!!!! I will not hold back and lie....I did cry a bit. </spoiler>

Enchantra was so captivating and wonderful! I look forward to book 3.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio, and Second Sky Books for the opportunity to listen to Enchantra ahead of its release date.

I really enjoyed this book. It was just as fun as Phantasma and I actually thought the love story made more sense than the one in Phantasma (which was quick and didn't seem like they had a chance to know each other). Another really fun enjoyable read I was excited to see there would be a third!

This is book 2 in the serie but can be read on it's own. And I mean it, I hate when a book is marketed as "can be read as a standalone" and then you dont understand half the story... So yes there are some comments about book 1 but no informations you need, just a better understanding of the family dynamic.

This is on the same model than Phantasma, only with immortal siblings having to kill eachother every year in a closed door game. And Genevieve lands in the game without meaning to. This is fast paced and spicy. The voices of the audiobook are nicely done.
I liked this book slightly better than book 1, Here the game was making more sense to me.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for access to the audiobook against an honest review.*

I have been so excited for this book since the second I finished Phantasma, but I was also a little nervous because I loved book #1 so much that I wasn't sure if anything after could live up to the hype. News flash — it did and then some.

Even though some of the Silver siblings are... not the nicest individuals, I honestly enjoyed all of them (yes. even you, Grave 🤣) and their banter!— But the shining Silver siblings of course; ROWINGTON SILVER MY GOD😭🤤 Blackwell had a chokehold on me... but this man... this man has me absolutely feral I swear.

I loved everything about this book start to finish. The story, the characters, the romance, all of it was perfect and I am now right back to dying from anticipation for the next story! 😫

***Thank you Kaylie Smith & NetGalley — I was provided with a free ARC copy of Enchantra (audiobook) in exchange for my honest review ***

I don’t know how Kaylie Smith has done it again, but she has! Just as charming yet brimming with a sense of gothic foreboding with more high stakes games. The Silver family have just as many dark secrets as the Grimms, making for the perfect second instalment. I was worried it would be more of the same, but whilst the successful formula from Phantasma has been used the result is a captivating cousin, not a tired twin. I thought this was a duology so was over the moon to learn a third book is in the works!

Thank you Bookouture Audio and Kaylie Smith for the audiobook ARC via NetGalley. I devoured it in less than 24 hours. The narrator, Laura Horowitz, put in another great performance that meant I spent the 12 hour duration so hooked I ignored all my responsibilities and the need to sleep.

Coming off the heels of one of the breakout novels, Phantasma, Enchantra promises to be just engaging, steamy and just an all around hell of a ride of a Novel.
We now follow Genevieve as she is entered into a dangerous game that she had intention of entering. While also fighting for her life she must contest with her growing attraction for fake husband Rowan.
So, this book for the most part stuck the landing as a sequel to one of my favorite novels of 2024. Genevieve was witty, feisty and all around hoot to read about. Her romance and down the road sexy time with Rowan was spicy and left my ears burning after each encounter.
The plot was where I began to lose interest in this book. It for sure was like book 1 in the sense that it was a dangerous game while falling in love with a demon. Which wasn’t bad but it just felt borderline meh for me.
The narrator, Laura Horowitz, is an absolute icon to get to narrate your book, period. She brought the tornado that is Genevieve Grim to life.
Overall a solid sequel but loses some of the steam that book 1 burst out of the gate with.
Would I recommend it? Of course, if you loved Phantasma, you’ll love this book.
I’d like to thank NetGalley & Second Sky Books for the opportunity to listen to this book early. I am so thankful and this is a honest representation of my feelings towards this book.

I was so excited to jump back into this world crafted by Kaylie Smith. In Phantasma, we didn’t get to know Genevieve much beyond Ophelia’s need to protect her. I was excited to get to know the other Grimm sister. Genevieve had all the dramatic flair that I love to embody in my own life. She used everything in her arsenal to beat Enchantra even with her huge disadvantages. Her and Rowin’s relationship was exactly what I wanted in a book. The tension between reluctant allies building to declarations of love. It was delectable! Another wonderful story with twists, scheming, and a deadly game. The audiobook was well produced and added to my enjoyment of the story. I hope this won’t be the last we see of the Silver family!

Wow!! I loved this book! I could not stop listening to it. I was obsessed with phantasma, so I was little nervous to dive into this book, but I was so surprised! I love the forced marriage trope and the MMC in this one was just incredible! I loved all the characters, and the plot was very intriguing! Can't wait for book 3!

Absolute perfection, no notes, has everything you could ever want from a fantasy romance book, I AM OBSESSED!!!!

First of all, thank you SO MUCH to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for this early audiobook copy!!! Laura Horowitz is officially my favorite narrator because WOWWWW, the way she voiced multiple characters (a whole FAMILY) and made each one so unique was literally incredible.

OKAY NOW THE BOOK!!!! I was hooked the second I started Enchantra. Kaylie Smith is such an underrated writer, she has a marvelous way of literally pulling you in and it’s just so addicting. I did not want to put this down!!!! The first interaction between Genevieve and Rowin made me so GIDDY I was genuinely kicking my feet and squealing LMAO 🤣 and then to find out they have to be fake married throughout a deadly game!!!!! I was a goner. The banter was so good and some of the best I’ve ever read. The characters were incredibly charming, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Silver family. I always love when there’s a tight-knit family in fantasy books & couple that with great banter?! SPECTACULAR 👏🏻 There was no part of this story that dragged, it was engaging the entire time, and I truly had so much fun reading it. You could say, I was enchanted 😉 (sorry)

Instead of a whole synopsis in my review I’ll just list some of my favorite tropes:
-MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE 🥳🥳
-shadows
-MMC with tattoos and piercings
-touch her & 💀
-found family
+ real family but they’re trying to 💀 each other in a deadly competition
-witty FMC

okay I’m done!!! I loved Enchantra so so so much and I’m beyond excited for the next book!!!! 💜💜💜

This was one of my highly anticipated books for 2025 and it did not disappoint!!

Many times when I’ve read a fantastic book the second one goes through different levels of a sophomore slump, especially when the series is to continue on. Not only did that not happen this book surpassed Phantasma!

One problem I had with Phantasma, which was one of my favorite books of 2024, and prevented me from giving it 5 stars was that it had too much spice in it. Now I didn’t mind spice but the plot and writing was so good it didn’t need as much as it had as it took away from the story.

Thankfully, in Enchantra that did NOT happen. It was very well balanced where the spice supported and uplifted the plot appropriately. I loved the relationship between Rowin and d Genevieve and how it built throughout the book. The games were even more engaging than what she and her sister had to endure in Phantasma.

I am so incredible thankful to have gotten a complimentary audio ALC from Second Sky, and particularly Noelle H through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.

At first I wasn’t sure about the Narrator, Laura Horowitz but I couldn’t put my finger on why when I first started listening. I had been so excited to start it that when o got access at 5:15am I started it immediately. I made it to 20% and exhaustion won out so I went back to bed.
I decided to start it from the beginning again when I was able to sit down and listen again. I am so glad so did because Horowitz did a fabulous job! It was such a great example of how your experience listening to a book can be completely transformed depending on your mood and tiredness or lack there of.

Horowitz did a great job with all the different voices and I appreciate that she didn’t choose a high pitch for Genevieve despite her being a young woman. She also spoke a a fairly natural pace, a little on the slower end of typical, at the 1x speed. I did bump it up to 1.25x but no further as I didn’t want to rush listening.

The book comes out on April 8th 2025 and I can’t wait to get my physical copy! I also can’t wait until the third installment which is expected the fall of 2025.

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

This was soooooo good! I loved every minute of it. The audiobook was amazing! I didn’t want it to end! The “my wife” moments and the “she’s mine”, are everything 🔥🔥it had me kicking and screaming. I even blushed a few times. I think I may like this one more than Phantasma.

This was just as fast-paced and fun as the first book. Unfortunately, the love interest in this one was not my cup of tea. He was that shadow-adjacent male character that many people love to read about, but for me they read as one dimensional cliches, to be entirely honest. I appreciate the tattoos; he would be prettier if he talked less.
Couldn't care less about him, so it's a good thing Genevieve is such an easy-to-like protagonist. I needed the balance.

About the plot itself: the setup was interesting but the games themselves were not. I think it was already at a disadvantage being the second in a connected-standalone-series, because most of its elements can (and are very hard to not) be compared to book 1.

If you loved the first one because of the romance and the dynamic between the main characters, I think you can go into this one and enjoy it just as much. If you loved the first one because you were really into the trials and lore itself, and the romance was just a plus, maybe not so much.

Overall; it didn't blow me away, but it wasn't bad. It gives what it promises, but your enjoyment will solely depend on your interest in this shadow guy (who would most likely get dressed in the morning listening to the AM album by the arctic monkeys, smoke cigarettes for the vibes and get a lot of attention on tumblr because he keeps showing off his piercings and ring collection).

4.25⭐️. “Blood does not go with pink!”

I enjoyed Phantasma and was cautiously optimistic that Enchantra would live up to it. It did! It throws you almost immediately into the action, with Genevieve travelling in Italy when she decides to accept an invitation to visit an old friend of her mother’s. When she arrives, it’s immediately apparent that everything is not as it seems, especially when the owner’s son (Rowin) slams the door in her face and tells her to get as far away as possible. However, as we learn early on, Genevieve is not one to take “No” for an answer and she finds herself transported into the family’s yearly, deadly game of hide and seek. Leaving is not an option and, if she is to stand any chance of surviving the hunt, she’ll need to join forces with Rowin, and so they agree to form an alliance. An alliance which is predicated on marriage, as only family members can play the game.

Like Phantasma, Enchantra was very atmospheric. I enjoyed Genevieve as a heroine, probably more than I expected to. She isn’t incredibly strong and she doesn’t have amazing powers, but she has grit and determination. She describes herself as vain, when in reality she’s just a normal girl with insecurities, looking for a place she feels like she belongs. Speaking of which, one of my favourite aspects was the found family. Bearing in mind the setting is a game in which each family member is pitted against each other, it shouldn’t work, but I found myself really invested in this family and I’m hoping we see a lot more of them in the books to come.

Laura Horowitz did a great job narrating the audiobook and I’d highly recommend the listening experience. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC of this book.

4.5 Stars

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for letting me listen and enjoy this audiobook.

I loved Phantasma so I knew I need Enchantra and I was so lucky to receive a ALC. this second instalment follows Genevieve, Ophelia Grime’s younger sister. I almost feel like you could read these as standalones, but they are both amazing so I recommend everyone reading both books. I liked that this one also features deadly games while trapped in a house but in a completely different way. I loved that a different type of paranormal beings were show cased. I loved the family aspects and the animal familiars.
This audiobook had the same narrator as the first, Laura Horowitz and she is perfection! I’d literally listen to her recite her grocery list. She does all the voices but does such a great job.
I would strongly encourage everyone to read this book and book one.

I received an advanced listener copy and let me tell you I absolutely devoured that in one sitting. I really loved the book one in the Wicked Games Series and also really enjoyed the audio and listening experience. And Laura did a fantastic job narrating Enchantra.
In book 2, we have Genevieve Grimm. We know where the younger sister to ophelia, who is the female main character of Phantasma. And she is off to find one of her mother’s friends who happens to reside in Italy. When she does this, she gets trapped inside another mansion, basically like her sister and her did in Phantasma. So another deadly game happens. I really loved this one. It basically is the same concept of rounds just like in Phantasma. Where there are eliminations each round. I loved that this world we see a lot more different types of the hierarchy of Demons and vampires and all the different supernatural type things that you hear and read about in the beginning of the book. I also really loved our new main male character…Rowin. I really think I’m gonna do a reread of both books because I just want to see if I missed anything else and possibly get any more clues on what the third book might include.
I’m addicted to this series anything that Kaylie Smith writes I’m going to read.

Big thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for a free audiobook copy of Enchantra in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 💫
As we learned in Phantasma, the Devil's sure do love their sick games and bargains.
On a search for other Spectors like herself, Genevieve finds herself in yet another Devil's game.
Forced into a marriage of convenience, she is left fighting for her life more than once. These devil games are more deadly hide and seek rather than riddles.
To start, the narration was done very well. This wasn't dual narration, but Laura Horowitz did a fantastic job voicing each character differently.
I liked Genevieve and Rowan. The romance in this book is definitely a slow burn. At first, I wasn't really feeling their relationship.. The chemistry between them wasn't quite as electric as Ophie and Blackwell's in the first book. When they finally decided to submit to their longing, it was sizzling. *Shadow daddy style*❤️‍🔥  By the end of the book, I liked them together more than I initially thought I would.
That ending and twist thoroughly surprised me, hurt me, and then healed me again. I'm sure it will surprise y'all, too! 😊

I really enjoyed Phantasma and was excited for this sequel! It did not disappoint!! I fell in love with all the characters especially the Silver siblings - seeing the complexity of the characters due to their circumstances yet seeing slight weaknesses when it comes to family members was so loving. That being said I still wish it expanded more on Rowin and Remi’s relationship as well as Tessie’s and Barrington’s relationship.

Genevieve pleasantly surprised me in this book and i fell in love with her throughout the story. Her and Rowin’s relationship felt more romantic and developed than the couple from the first book which was perfectly finished off with the ending 🥹

I can’t wait for the next book!!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture audio for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
