Thank you, NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing, for this eARC for review. All opinions are my own.

Three best friends are vacationing on a remote island with their families as teenagers. One of the girls' younger sisters goes missing early one morning. As no body is ever found, no one ever knows if she had an accident, was taken, or killed by a member of their group. The mystery tears the friends apart until 20 years later when a podcaster calls, claiming to have found clues. All 3 return to the island, hoping to find the truth.

I really enjoyed this story. There were a lot of side stories going on in each of the characters' lives that gave a lot of insight into who they are. It wrapped up neatly at the end.

Catrin, Roz and Nina spent time on Little Auger Island as children and enjoyed their sleepovers there until the year Roz's younger sister disappeared early one morning after the other 3 girls had went out on a hike.

Years later Stella, a podcaster doing a series on missing people reaches out to Roz and the others and invites them all to meet with her on the island. Stella has found an item that may tell something more about Hazel's disappearance. Reluctantly the others meet with her to tell her what they remember.

There is a great mystery to be solved in this book, and the characters are very well thought out and written. I read this book in a day and a half because I become so involved in their lives and wanted to find out what happened. I would highly recommend this book.

An enjoyable read if you like general fiction with a mystery element! About half of this book surrounds figuring out what happened to a missing child, and the rest further develops the characters and where this resolved mystery leads them. There’s so many relationships being explored here — childhood and adulthood friendships, siblings, parent-child, mother-child — and with each of these relationships I took something valuable away. I love how multifaceted the characters are. Just as I was starting to dislike someone, it’s like the author was saying “just kidding” and dove deeper into why they acted the way they did, which made me sympathetic for their situation. The mystery hooked me, but it was moving at the same time.

Set on an isolated island off the coast of Wales, the reader meets three women who have returned there after 20 years to hopefully find out what happened to the litte sister of one of them. Weaving back and forth, we meet the three as young teenagers, then to the present where thery have tried to put this tragedy behind them. What happened to the little girl who went missing? Was it murder or an accident that caused her disappearance? A great read, I look forward to reading more from this author.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the eARC.
This is an amazing debut novel, I absolutely loved it!
The story follows 3 women who were best friends as pre- teens and their families were vacationing on a small remote island when a little sister goes missing. It tore up the families friends for 2 years years until a podcaster contacts them individually, them onto the island to go over the missing little sister's case.
There is much soul searching, regret and pain between the 3 women and then the truth comes out ...
The ending was moving, uplifting and very satisfying.
I can't wait for the author's next book!

3.75 ⭐ rounded up.

This story follows three women, brought back together 20 years after the mysterious disappearance of one of the women's younger sister on a remote island whilst they were all on vacation.

I was expecting more of a suspense / psychological thriller vibe from this book, however I was pleasantly surprised when the main plotline was resolved a little bit after the halfmark of the story. The rest of the book was spent depicting the different ways these 3 women went on with their life.

Between the Waves is my third book and it explores how childhood mistakes can bleed into adulthood. A few years ago, when I was on holiday in Wales, I came across a tidal island and became fascinated by the idea of being cut off from the rest of the world by something that couldn’t be controlled. I am half Welsh on my father’s side and nearly drowned on Ogmore beach when I was about five years old. Now, after writing my third book, I wonder if this event had a bigger influence on my life than I realised. Thank you for taking the time to read my work and thank you for reviewing. I hope you enjoyed the book.
