This is an interesting retelling of Robin Hood, and I like the concept that Robin's men would also want to be with Marian - it makes for a unique RH concept. I did enjoy the general story arc, but the writing felt a bit too flowery and elaborate - it was hard to follow the story at times because it felt like the words were dancing around the actual plot. I also wish there had been more closure with Gideon at the end, although I'm sure there is room for that as the series continues.

Certainly grabs you from the start. Lots going on in the story. Quite an interesting story featuring a wounded heroine in need of help. SHe gets that in spades

Recurve Ridge is a Robin Hood retelling, that follows up Mari, who flees a dangerous situation and runs in the arms of Robe, who, after traumatic experiences, shares a cabin with four other "troubled" man. Helping her through recovery, the five men and Mari start to grow closer than expected, realizing that they seem to have the same enemy.

While I did like the setting of the story and the way it showed men in a vulnerable state helping each other out, I did struggle with the rest. It was incredibly hard for me to get into it, because the monologues and conversations were very unrealistic and seem to be over the top. Once you get to more into the story, learn more about the characters themselves it gets easier.
There were bigger time jumps, which made the connections she felt to some of them more realistic, but also made me feel like I missed out on a bit. It also felt very repetitive. The same interactions and the same monologues kept making an appearance, which was a bit irritating after a while.
Some of the characters felt flat and honestly could've been left out. Maybe they'll be more relevant in the later books.
The second half of the book was more interesting, but also more fast paced and then ended on kind of a cliffhanger.
It's a slowburn, which I was positively surprised about.

The writing itself was good, very poetic and on a high level, but maybe a bit much for someone, who just now gets into reading.
It might not have been something for me, but I know that there's a big audience who will eat this up.

I absolutely loved this book. The balance between spicy and story line is exactly what I love in a book. Being a first time mom this was the perfect book to read when any amount of me time showed itself. It wasn’t terribly long and allowed me to feel accomplished in my goal of continuing to read while on maternity leave. The author takes a unique and captivating spin on a classic. I truly cannot wait for a part two.

I wanted to like this book so much! I love a rough and tough bunch of guys but for some reason this was unbelievable to me. I think it was the wordiness of the book and how serious the main character started off. It felt cheesy...

I’m all about nods to classic stories and literature but this goes a bit over board in terms of character names, tropes, etc. The Robin Hood theme really was a distraction rather than an aide.

This book sucked me in right from the very start and kept me in its clutches until the very end, I read it in one sitting. Well written with characters that were believable and relatable

Robe Huntingdon did not expect his heart to melt how it did nor did the other 4 men that live with him, that was until Mari crashed into their lives.
Mari was running for her life and scared out her wits but found safe and love in the most unexpected of places.

I loved this book, the story was gripping, well detailed, not got loads going on ant the same time to were you get lost and the characters all had something to enjoy. I can’t wait to see what comes next is the series’s.

I highly recommend this book and will be buying this and more in the future.

I really enjoyed seeing the characters progress in this story. The story was well paced and well written. I was hooked from the beginning and devoured it in just a few sittings.

I am honestly really sad this book is over! I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to! I did find it a little difficult to understand at some points. I also honestly felt like it was a little wordy sometimes, like things or scenes could have been explained using a lot less or easier words, but that also could be a personal issue. Over all I actually had a really great time and I’m so sad I have to wait to continue with Robe, Mari and the guys story!!

"Recurve Ridge" is a modern-day retelling of Robin Hood and his band of men, along with Meri. There are a number of trigger warnings that should be read beforehand in case any of those topics may bother you.

My challenge with this story was tied more to the characters. I am still a little fuzzy on why they are stuck on the Ridge, or at least what they did beyond some innuendo of what I could infer. It was also a little hard for me to follow Meri's change and recovery. I appreciated the concept, but it was hard for me to get there as quickly.

On the positive side, I actually enjoyed the discovery and feelings and reading as the relationships between the characters unfolded. I am hoping that the next book answers some of my questions.

Thank you to Dove Priest and Net Galley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
