This second book in the Rebel by Night series was a captivating and well written historical romance. There is drama, action, near death, loss, hidden and secret identities, a change in status, family feuding, suspense, betrayal, secrets, romance, passion, and many twists that kept me very engaged. I recommend reading!

Enjoyed it! I needed an escape and this book gave me exactly that. I got romance, adventure, a history lesson (who knew British privateers were based out of Jersey in the 18th century?), sibling rivalry, and warm fuzzies.
Is this a deeply profound book that will have you questioning your deep beliefs or solve world peace? No, and it's not meant to be. Relax, make a mug of tea, and have fun.

She rescues him...
Sabina rescues a pirate that washed up on shore. Roland jumped ship when his crew mutinied. Sabina is in hiding for years, but risks helping Roland. They meet again and of course Sabina's past comes knocking. Why she is in hiding takes a long while to be revealed. Roland on his return is there to take up his title.
3.5

A wild ride of a story. The reader doesn't know why Sabina is in hiding until close to the end which provides some intrigue. Roland is an interesting character with an interesting past. Thankfully, A happy ending is achieved.

Firstly thank you to Evernight publishing and Constance Kersaint for the opportunity to read this book, I had so much fun and genuinely adored so many moments in this story.
Things I liked:
- The opening chapter was just amazing, a washed up pirate, a governess with secrets, it hooked me right away!!
- I loved they’re reunion scene and thought it was so so adorable, their conversations in general in this book and they’re vulnerability is so refreshing and lovely.
- I really loved Aria and the side characters such as the twins and Ransom!!!
- This book has so much funny moments that I just loved and made the writing so rich and enjoyable.
- I really liked the mystery surrounding Sabina and her love of teaching and how Roland always respects this about her, at a time when women working after marriage in upper class backgrounds was frowned upon, and it really shows his true love and respect for Sabina, to go against social norms and accept her as she is.
- Roland is just swoon worthy!!!
Things I didn’t like:
- The pacing of the kidnapping to rescue felt a little fast and made the story lack stakes due to how I knew he was going to get her easily.
- Some of the steamy scenes, Sabina says some things that are a little long winded and I found it took me out of the scene.
Overall, I would rate this book on Storygraph and fable a 3.5 and I really had such a lovely time.
