Wow. This book? Utter perfection. Where do I even begin? If House of Earth and Blood and A Court of Mist and Fury had a love child, this book would be the golden child—the one they slap a “Proud Parent of an Exceptional Book” bumper sticker on while gushing to anyone within earshot (whether they asked or not). It effortlessly delivers the best fantasy romance tropes while skillfully dodging the worst offenders. I’m looking at you unnecessary communication and dumb misunderstandings.
From page one I was hooked. I love a well written dual POV, and this book delivers. It throws you straight into the action - no exposition dumps, no labyrinthine world building to wade through. Just pure immediate chaos, exactly how I like it. We follow Rae and Aiden in a world on the brink of war. Teeming with fae, humans, vampires, and witches. The story is dark, intense, and brimming with power struggles, shifting alliances, and the ever present fight for survival.
Rae? A complete badass. Snarky, confident, and more than capable of holding her own. A Silversmith, business wonder, artist, and all around force to be reckoned with. She is not here to play damsel in distress,
Aiden? Broody? Possessive? Powerful? Absolutely. He has all the best qualities of a swoon worthy morally gray MMC without the frustrating tropes that make you contemplate throwing your book across the room.
Their dynamic is pure gold, their banter is top tier, and the conversations are captivating. The spice? Let’s just say we thrive on a well executed slow burn, forced proximity trope.
The world building is immersive, the character development is masterfully executed, and if I have one complaint? I need more of the side characters. Rae and Bae deserve more page time, as do my beloved animal companions - Ru and Quinn.
I devoured every page, and will be not so patiently waiting for book two.
MASSIVE thank you to Net Galley and Victory Editing for the ARC!

I'm genuinely obsessed with this book! I'm always a little weary of vampire books because I feel like a lot of the tropes are played out, but this was SUCH a pleasant surprise!
I loved the dual POV and really found myself rooting for both of the main characters. I'm the type of person who can always see things coming and I loved that this book actually kept me guessing as to how deep Rae's lore went and his complex of a character she was. This was written beautifully!! Thank you- MORE PLEASE!
Thank you so much to NetGalley for this ARC!!!
