The Monkeewrench series has done it again. This was a suspenseful read with amazing characters that kept me hooked from the beginning.

There Back!!
Monkeewrench and LEO MAGOZZI are on a new case with an old enemy and the game is on.
“Wolfgang Mauer busted out of Gustavus,” he said without preamble.
I was a little worried about how this one would turn out but there was nothing at all to worry about. It was just like old times. Lots of character interaction with danger around every corner. The whole gang was back in their amazing glory. This series is one of my all time favorites and I really hope there are many more installments to look forward to.

I have enjoyed the Monkeewrench series from the first story. I will soon begin a second reading. The characters are wonderfully quirky and lovable. I hope the series continues for many more books.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
This is something of a sequel to the tenth book in this series (about which I remembered nothing). There is no real mystery here because there are sections from the perspectives of the bad guys so the reader always knows what they are up to. Still, it moved at a good pace and was well-plotted. An unacceptably humorous treatment of drunk driving troubled me and the rather sentimental romantic pairing off of all the main protagonists made me wonder if this series is coming to an end...
I would recommend (re-)reading book 10 before tackling this one for best enjoyment.

I really enjoyed the latest book in P.J. Tracy’s Monkeywrench series’s. At one time I was holding my breath because of the suspense! The characters are all so likable too! Thank you for letting me preview this great story!

Thank you, Crooked Lane Books for providing the copy of The Deepest Cut by P.J. Tracy. I have been waiting for a new Monkeewrench installment for years and it was like seeing old friends again. It took me a while to get into the story, maybe because Gino, Magozzi, and the Monkeewrench crew didn’t show up until well into the book and I was anticipating being reunited with them! Once I got engaged with the story though, I really enjoyed it, even with the large cast of characters and so much going on. It felt like the story was less important than giving our main characters a fitting ending. Does this mean it’s the last Monkeewrench novel? I hope not. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Welcome back one of my favorite series. I’ve missed you and the Monkeewrench gang of computer geniuses.
Another winner with a cast of characters I would love to be a part of and a storyline that will keep you reading long into the night. Enough thrills, chills and surprises to keep the reader coming back for more. I look forward to the next one. Please don’t let it be so long.
Highly recommended!

Monkeewrench team has growing pains as life changes their paths and no one wants to adjust! In the meanwhile a psychotic mental patient escapes for revenge and wreaks havoc as the team along with police race to nab him before he kills again. Always a fun and exciting read!

I'm so happy to have the Monkeewrench (and Gino and Magozzi) gang back!
Leo Magozzi and Gino Rolseth, along with their tech-savvy partners Monkeewrench, took down sadistic killer Wolfgang Mauer. Locked away in a maximum security mental hospital, Mauer quietly plots his escape. When he breaks free, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake and kidnapping a young boy (poor Travis!), small-town sheriff Iris Rikker is thrust into a deadly manhunt. With Travis's life hanging in the balance, Magozzi who was literally set to retire, Gino, Rikker and Monkeewrench race to stop Mauer before he exacts his revenge on the team that put him away.
This was slow and steady and whilst there weren't any twists and turns it was suspenseful with everything leading to a final showdown. Although I do which there had been more to the confrontation- it was more lacking than I'd hoped.
The characters in this series have always been outstanding - Annie, Gino, Roadrunner and Harley Davidson, as well as wider supporting characters - and this was no different. But my favourites have always been Grace and Leo and I loved seeing how they've progressed. And honestly, my heart was bleeding for poor little Travis.
There are so many returning characters and plot lines - and it's been a while since I read the previous books - I wish I'd done a re-read before picking this up. If you have time for a refresher before reading this, I'd definitely recommend it. I still thorough enjoyed it though so absolutely fine to read as a standalone/without.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Monkeewrench is back! Our favorite white hat hackers team up again with homicide detectives Leo and Gino. Leo thinks the biggest problem will have on his last day of work will be avoiding whatever screwed up torment Gino has planned. Oh, he's so wrong! It's great to re-visit the old gang in this latest from PJ Tracy.

So excited to see a Monkeewrench novel! It’s been a while and I had forgotten how much I enjoy these stories. This book was great, I loved getting to know the characters all over again. Wolfgang Mauer escapes a maximum security prison, kills several people in the process and kidnaps a young boy. He is hell bent on getting revenge of the police and Monkeewrench for locking him up. This is a thrilling read as Wolfie goes on the run and is in hiding plotting his revenge. Can he be stopped before and more lives are lost? Highly recommend this book, it was an excellent read, I really enjoyed it.

Oh how I’ve missed the Monkeewrench gang! This book was amazing. It’s been a few years and P. J. Tracy had been focused on her Det. Nolan series and I’m sure she really misses her mom going back to Monkeewrench but I am so glad she did! There is no difference on the writing just another great book. I don’t want spoilers or just to rehash the book. Zelda and her home and Travis added so much to the story. I liked Dundas being involved in the story and of course catching up on all the Monkeewrench characters. I just might go back and reread the first ten while I wait for the next book. I highly recommend, an excellent read.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
P.J. Tracy, the pseudonym of the award winning mother-daughter writing team of P.J. and Traci Lambrecht, returns with the wonderfully eclectic gang of cyber sleuths who comprise the Monkeewrench team in "The Deepest Cut".
This time the team must capture Wolfgang Mauer, a clever sadistic serial killer who escaped to kill the people who incarcerated him. After murdering a pre-teen boy's abusive parents, Mauer kidnaps the child and unaccountably brings him along for his revenge-seeking ride.
P.J. Tracy skillfully crafts a story that blends taut suspense and psychological intricacies into a thriller that chills and resonates. True to their hallmark style, Tracy's storytelling pulsates with an emotional depth that makes this novel as much a journey through human vulnerability as it is a gripping whodunit.
From the first page, the narrative plunges readers into a world where every shadow seems imbued with secrets. Tracy’s prose is as sharp as the title suggests—surgical, incisive, and deliberate. This novel maintains an unrelenting pace while affording introspective moments that allow the characters' complexities to unfold.
The interweaving of past traumas with present dangers is executed seamlessly, creating a layered narrative that keeps the reader engaged on multiple levels.
The characters in "The Deepest Cut" are the heart of the story. Each is meticulously developed, their motivations and vulnerabilities laid bare in a way that feels achingly real. Tracy excels at exploring the grey areas of human morality, crafting individuals as compelling in their flaws as they are in their strengths.
Tracy’s ability to evoke a sense of place is unparalleled—whether it’s a claustrophobic interrogation room, a desolate crime scene, or the fragile sanctuary of a character’s home. The atmosphere enhances the tension, making every revelation and twist feel like a visceral punch.
Beneath the surface of the thriller lies a poignant exploration of trauma, resilience, and redemption. Tracy doesn’t shy away from delving into the darker recesses of the human psyche, but they also offer glimpses of hope and the potential for healing. This thematic richness elevates "The Deepest Cut" beyond a conventional crime novel, making it a work of literary merit.
"The Deepest Cut" is a masterclass in storytelling that cuts to the core of human experience. P. J. Tracy has crafted a novel as emotionally resonant as it is unputdownable. For readers who crave psychological depth alongside their suspense, this book is an absolute must-read.
