This book is about the life cycle of a milkweed and a monarch butterfly. This is a great introduction to plants and insects for young children.

Netgalley ARC - I loved the botanical style drawings but the illustrations of the children weren't my favorite. The message is nice and I like the milkweed and monarch backmatter info pages, but I don't think the glossary makes much sense for what the stories depict. At least half of the words would require significant explanations to connect to the story for a child, like carbon dioxide.

Wait Like a Seed by Erin Alladin and Tara Anderson is a wonderful children's picture book for those many children who find themselves fascinated by the beauty and wonder of caterpillars and butterflies. The milkweed plant has shown to be the perfect source of nutrition and environment for butterflies. The children in this whimsical book learn that the seeds they find will grow into milkweed plants if planted and allowed to grow. When the milkweed plants are grown and ready, they will attract colonies of butterflies which the children can admire and observe. The children quickly become swept up and fascinated by the premise that they will soon have their own milkweed plants and their own colonies of butterflies.
The author and illustrator capture the essence of butterflies and their natural habitats through narrative and illustrations. The book contains an informational section and a glossary of important terms.

The book was beautifully written. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

This was a beautifully illustrated story about the lifestyle of milkweed! The story was rhyming and simple and is great for guardians, educators, and librarians to read to younger students. It's quick and informative, but it also features more information after the story section to dive deeper into the lifecycle of both milkweed and of the monarch butterfly. There are lots of books about butterfly's, but I haven't seen a simple book like this about milkweed before so this is a great book to add to your nonfiction section.

This is a simple and cute little book that tells the story of milkweed first in little rhyming couplets, and then gives much more in-depth information on butterflies and milkweed. It would be a great summer read for a kindergartener or first grader, a little bit science, a lot of fun.
