I love a short little romantic treat and this one hit the spot. April's sister is getting married and when the wedding singer quits last minute, the replacement is April's nemesis--the man who stole her lyrics.
There's something about a wedding that inspires little droplets of romance and April and Jack find they're not immune to it. I wish the story could've been a little longer to dig deeper into these characters and make them three dimensional like I know this author can do, but given the length, the story is complete and utterly charming.
April is hurt and what Jack does to make things right for her almost brought a tear to my eye, which is very difficult to do. Fun, celebrity romance!
Content: mild romance
I love this series, and I really enjoyed the story of April and Jack. They were great characters, and had a very good story!
Being wronged hurts. But might a handsome popstar want to make amends with you?
April has always been fascinated with lyrics writing. But when a handsome colleague used her lines for his breakthrough song, her world shattered.
But she has tried, nonetheless, to stay positive. But now, with her Bridezilla sister's wedding approaching, she is a bit overwrought. But to hear that the said sister has hired Jack to sing at the wedding? The same Jack who stole her lyrics? Well, she might just murder the bride!
Jack has never known who had written the fascinating lyrics, he has just found the napkin and used them. When April contacted him, the song was already rotating on radio stations. And Jack was kind of trying to paint the issue with favourable colors.
But April has just gotten more prettier and his conscience is speaking the unmistakable truth - he did wrong, even within the circumstances. But how to make amends with her?
How fun!!! From this moment on I am reading anything written by Amy Matayo. She is a very intelligent writer (both on smart side and emotionally intelligent), who can take a plot lime this (a bit unbelievable, I mean) and make you totally believing in it and being there with the characters. She is not easy on them - they make mistakes and they need to learn from them - but she is with them in the said situations. She is personal with the characters. So you have your fingers crossed for them, too.
And she is so darn funny and refreshingly honest with her writing!
She also has a light hand - there is no dull moment here, and the right amount of values without preaching.
As I said before, count me as a fan.
I love this author's style of writing! I was immersed right in April's drama with her bridezilla sister (I would not have lasted as long as she did!) and the disappointments with her music career. Jack's attempts to make things right with their past were lame at first and I was glad she gave him what-for. Their chemistry was sizzling though and throughout the ups and downs of learning to trust each other and their own feelings, they develop a sincere friendship and relationship. A fun novella with just the right amount of angst and romance!
(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)
