As I have been starting my journey as an ARC reader, I haven't had a ton of luck up until now. This was my breakthrough book, and I loved it! While the story can be pretty cliche it also holds plot twists that truly took me for surprise and that's how I know an author knows what they are doing! I wish it would have been a little bit longer. There could have been a bit more detail and time to the start of the feelings when they take the fake date, and the smutty scene could have had a bit more to them. They felt rushed which was something I felt like I hadn't seen yet in this way. There was no holding back, but it felt like they lasted all of 5 seconds. Overall, the characterization of Scott and Cole added to Asher and the hate I found for him is great! If I had to make a guess, I would assume we might see a story for Cole in our future! I highly suggest this great read!

It's a fun story that starts as an enemies-to-lovers book. Really though Trina is the one who is upset with Scott and his loud music and parties, Scott is not mad at Trina he is just working at getting her to relax but she has a problem with that—a fun book with excellent characters.

This was a fun and cute read! I have read other novels by this author and really enjoyed them. This novel did not disappoint. I love a good novel where the characters get their second chance at love. This novel just checked so many boxes for me. I really enjoyed it! I loved Trina and how resilient she was despite all the terrible hits that were piling up on her. I really enjoyed Trina and Scott's story. I loved banter between the two of them. I loved watching both of their defenses and walls coming down and falling in love. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting this novel down. I needed to know what was happening next. I can hardly wait to see what this author has coming next. So good!

The Jerk in apartment 1B was a cute romance from author Allie Everhart. The story revolves around the two main characters of Trina and Scott.
The FMC, has just been let go from her fashion assistant job. When she arrives home her fiancé, Asher has her stuff packed and said he wants to break up and concentrate on his career. Her friend, Sara knows a girl looking to sublet her small cheap apartment. She moves in with almost nothing but makes it work while working at the local grocery store while she figures out what is next.
The MMC, Scott we subsequently learn is the owner of the apartment complex. He started a company and made his money and sold it. At 29 he's gone through loss and instead of grieving n moving on has given up on love and relationships. Preferring casual hook ups. Until he meets Trina. He starts to panic when he feels his heart getting involved.
Will they be able to work on a relationship? Will Scott keep her at arms length so his heart isn't broken again? Will he be able to move on?
At first it took me a minute to get invested in the book but as time went it got better and I thought it was a cute sweet book about love, loss and new love
