Kennedy Ryan brings back her magic with this beautiful love story. Each word is captivating and you keep on turning the pages. I read it in one sitting.
I Highly Recommend it to all readers.
I'm shocked to say that this was my favorite story in the series. I didn't know how I would feel about Cam after the way he acted in Loving You Always. I was not thrilled with him, but I knew there was so much more to him. He was redeemed almost immediately, and I fell in love just as quickly. Cam is a tortured soul, to say the least, and it is always hard to read about such a horrific theme. Kennedy did a beautiful job writing this book, because I felt every bit of his pain. Jo has been a character that has confused me, made me laugh and had me scratching my head. I didn't know what to think of her, at times, in the first two books. I loved getting into her head and finding out more about why she is the way she is. I can't imagine loving someone for so long. Waiting. Watching him with other women, helping him plan his wedding and pretty much setting aside my own feelings. She is one tough cookie, that much I do know. I really loved their journey to each other. There was a lot of ups and downs, because Cam is fighting tooth and nail to protect Jo from himself. But, he can't hold out with their chemistry. It drips off the pages, and when they get together, it is like fireworks. H.O.T. Steamy. Passionate. Oh, my. Loved it. We do get a little bit of Walsh and Kerris in this story, but I'm glad that their history with Cam wasn't a main focus. We were able to move forward with his relationship with Jo without any of that drama and angst. And Cam's relationship with Jo was so beautiful. They really are the best of friends. I loved how easy it was with them, when he wasn't fighting taking things to the next level. I loved his obsession with her tush, him painting her, making her relax, and being the only one that she allows to take care of her. I also loved how she made herself vulnerable to him, so that he could open up to her. This was an emotional love story, and I loved every minute of it.
Loved, loved, loved the story between Cam and Jo! Totally fell in love with Cam's story, he really was harboring some deep dark secrets. True love never fails is all I can say, Jo and Cam are clear proof of that.
After reading When You Are Mine and pretty much hating Cam and Jo, I accidentally requested Be Mine Forever from Netgalley thinking it was the conclusion to Kerris and Walsh's story. Oops! I just couldn't bring myself the read this book because of how much I hated Cam.
But I decided I needed to bite the bullet and just read it already. It's a good thing I did. Whatever events transpired in Loving You Always (some of which is shown in the beginning here), Cam has grown up and matured.
Ryan has done a wonderful job of turning two characters I despised into sympathetic people. Cam's backstory is heartbreaking in the extreme and that doesn't hurt since torturing a hero is my catnip. How his past affects him today is just as heartbreaking and there is a scene that just grips you and hurts. I did chafe a lot at Cam's relentless waffling though. He tries to keep Jo at a distance, then lets her in, then deliberately hurts her to push her away, then pulls her in. I wanted to smack him, even knowing his backstory. By the time he got the help he needed (very reluctantly), I wanted to smack him for putting it off for so long.
Jo is a bit of a doormat for Cam. She'll put up with just about anything from him and let him come back no matter how much he hurts her. She tries a couple of times to break away but every time she does, Cam comes back to pull her back in. Her incessant need to be perfect and live up to everyone's expectations of her is a drawback, not a feature. She needs to let herself be sometimes and it's painful to watch her struggle to please everyone over herself.
When they finally get things figured out, I was definitely cheering for them. It was about time.
Be Mine Forever is a fantastically epic romance between Cam and Jo. To say that this was a long time coming is the understatement of the year. Jo has spent more than half her life in love with Cam, and Cam fought his feelings for Jo every day. This build up continued for years until the pressure on Jo’s heart couldn’t take it any longer. When Jo knew that her heart needed to either be connected to Cam or to look elsewhere, she gave Cam an ultimatum. This game of hiding and denying feelings was too much for her to bear anymore. Her heart couldn’t take it any longer and continue to survive.
Jo love Cam since she was 15. She loved him unconditionally and yet she couldn’t catch his eye no matter how hard she tried. She also couldn’t move on from him, and her heart refused to let go no matter what happened. Knowing this was slowly killing her, she pushed Cam to the razor’s edge of their friendship. No matter how much Cam pushed himself away from his feeling for Jo because he knew he wasn’t good enough for her, he also knew that he couldn’t lose her. In one last desperate move, he agreed to give them a chance and see how things worked out. He told her he came with baggage, but all she wanted was his heart.
Jo was such a strong woman who tried her best to mirror her late Aunt Kris who spent her life trying to help bring others out of their misery. She threw herself so completely into her work that she often neglected to take care of herself, and Cam stepped into the role of lover and caretaker so effortlessly. He loved Jo almost as long as she loved him, and that made their relationship burn so much hotter and bonded them fiercely to the other. No matter what Jo wanted to be there for Cam and help him in any she could, but we can’t force another to do what would heal them and make them whole. All we can do is love them with no strings and hope one day they will see the light.
Kennedy Ryan has given us another masterpiece in this wonderful series that feels so much like real life. You can’t deny the rough times these friends and family members have had to go through, but through everything, they still love each other. If Cam had given into his feelings for Jo sooner, he could have saved them all some heartache, but things happen in the right time and in the right way for a reason. No action is ever wasted energy. I would rather live a life that comes with some pain and suffering then to live a shallow, hollow life that I am never sure of.
I wrote a review for this on my blog... and like I said in there, I loved it so much. Kennedy Ryan is such an awesome storyteller. Her latest as of date, is the Grip series and she just rocked it!
I read this book, the third in the series, not having read the other two titles. So first off I would say that it’s perfectly readable as a stand alone.
Although you have no back story or in depth history that you may get if you read the first two in the series, I don’t believe it takes anything away from the story. We meet characters who have obviously been main characters in the other two titles but enough of their story is provided to ensure the background is well and truly established before moving on to this final, exciting instalment.
It is very obvious from the outset that Jo and Cam have unrequited feelings for each other and despite her best efforts, Jo has been unsuccessful in tempting Cam into a relationship. Cam’s belief is that he is not good enough for her because of his dark and difficult childhood.
I really wanted to hate Cam for leading poor Jo on but, I must say that, I fell a little bit in love with him myself.
Jo proves to be one classy lady who knows exactly what she wants and just hasn’t been able to get it. Until now!
Ms Ryan leads the reader through the ups and downs of this ‘made for each other’ couple. There are times when this journey makes you laugh, cry and, on occasion, takes your breath away.
Although I have not read any of Kennedy Ryan’s other titles, I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for any future releases.
