The Secrets Between You and Me has a companion novel that I don't think is a must-read to get the gist of this story. The story revolves around a teen named Hannah who is dealing with the implosion of her so-called 'perfect life' after an unexpected thing rocks her family. I think this book was a great story about taking life into your own hands and making the best of a not-so-good situation.

Escaping her troubled, controlling family, Hannah decides to spend a summer in North Carolina with her aunt. There, she makes some new friends and meets a cute 'bad boy' named Jude – but will her old life eventually catch up to her and ruin everything?
I loved the summer atmosphere of this book – vacation, bonfires, ice cream. And though I can't personally speak to most of the representation, I appreciated that the book discussed deeper issues such as substance abuse and trauma that affect real teenagers. I did feel that the book left me with some unanswered questions and unresolved issues, but overall it was an enjoyable read.

Thanks for providing a review copy, I was not able to read this one. So I will not be leaving a review on social media at this time.

Sadly I didn't enjoy The Secrets Between You and Me as much as I really wanted to. I wanted to love this book, but it just didn't do it for me. I didn't connect with the characters.
