Note: clearing old books from before 2019

Did not have time to read this book - still on my TBR. Thank you for the opportunity and my apologies for not getting to it.

I had super high expectations for this one due to the synopsis, but it doesn't even come close to books that are similarly themed/plotted. There are so many other books that do this much better and more touching. I didn't like Rose at all.

I almost through this book across the room when I finished it, then I remembered it was on my highly-breakable tablet. I was incensed by the ending. It is eerie and dark, and it sticks with you. I wanted to dislike it but I didn't. It simply made me think about things that I would rather leave in the recesses of my own brain. Foley writes a brilliant cautionary tale about bringing your fantasies into real life. They simply never live up to the hype. And in this case, they might actually harm you.
