What exactly was suspenseful or thrilling about The Sublet by Greer Hendricks!?

The potential was there, but it was just never executed. I was intrigued for three quarters of the book, then that all fizzled and faded out. I'm really not sure what that ending was about!? - I was left with more questions than answers.

Although I love Karissa Vacker's audiobook narrations, this isn't a favourite of mine. There's something off-sounding about her voice her, like maybe she had a cold!?

Overall: this just was not it for me.

Holy crap I love this author, and absolutely loved this audiobook! It had me hanging on the edge of my seat the whole time & I did not see that coming!

I just did not enjoy this one at all. It was boring, it didn't work for me. The suspense was not there and the thrills either. Not for me.

This was short, sweet and the way to write a novella. I enjoyed the narrator and found the plot to be very intriguing.

Karissa Vacker is one of my favorite female narrators and she can make any book better. I just love listening to her and this was no exception. She did a great job of bringing Anne to life.

I often feel a short story doesn't bring enough of the characters to life due to the short time frame reading, but I was able to know Anne and Melody.

This was a quick listen/read and while not my favorite, it was a nice change of pace. Except I struggled a little understanding the ending.

This is a very short story and I was hoping this could be a quick read to get me out of a little reading slump; it definitely did that!

It was fun and short and while it didn't have much depth, it was about what you'd expect from a story of this length!

Overall, not memorable, but good for what it was!

The audiobook itself was 5/5- Karissa Vacker is the BEST!

I know this was meant to be a short story, but it was way too short! I thought the story was just getting started when it ended. I wish there was a bit more explanation or substance. There were a few plot points that could have been explored more, had this been even half an hour longer.
I adore Karissa Vacker though, her narration was great!

I know it's a serious challenge and takes real talent to write short stories / novellas well and have the reader really care about them... and this just wasn't it. This was a must-read for me because I love Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen books, so with Sarah Pekkanen releasing full-length novels on her own, I was dying to see what this had in store for me with just Greer Hendricks at the helm.

This was just.... not good. In a full-length novel, sure. We would have had time to spend dilly dallying about. In a short story thriller? You HAVE to get to the good parts quickly. It took to long to even get to the sublet. I was beat over the head with "lavender" and this stupid guru woman. There was a wild twist at the end which was stupid because we didn't even have time to get to know what was going on and there wasn't enough time to be interested in the intrigue of it all. Like I said, it takes real skill and is very challenging to make a reader care that much in that amount of time, and I was not into it at all. I hated the characters, didn't feel for them or understand their motives, and just none of it worked for me.

The author wasted a lot of time with dumb filler that could have been better spent in better places. I'm also STILL confused about something... [The main character said she had a hard time conceiving and finally she got her twins with IVF. She hadn't had sex with her husband in weeks to a month, and somehow she ends up pregnant at the end. But. How? Was this supposed to be a miraculous conception? Was this from her husband? From the pills? WHY was that even necessary? WHO CARES!! I must have fever-dreamed right over that explanation because I was too busy being disappointed in everything else. (hide spoiler)]

Yes, this was free, but I still invested (a small amount of) time in it. I would have liked to enjoy it at least a little bit.

This is a fun little novella - it reads a bit predicable, but still enjoyable. Very reminiscent to Freida McFadden's style. The ending felt unfinished though and would have liked just a few more pages or chapters to tie everything together. Recommend if you're looking for a quick thriller!

I love a good short story and I loved all the thrillers written by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen so I was really excited to listen to this audiobook especially since it’s read by one of my fave narrators Karissa Vacker! I found this to be a good story. It was engaging and even though it’s short there is a good twist at the end. I liked the Manhattan setting and how the main character is a ghost writer. I hope Hendricks writes another full length thriller soon!

I wasnt sure what to think about this book when I started this. I didn’t realize it was a short story but it left me completely unsatisfied. It was underwhelming, and just randomly ended. It left me thinking, what was the point? I probably wouldn’t recommend this one unfortunately.

I love Greer Hendricks’ other books like the Wife Between Us & An Anonymous Girl, and the same great writing style can be found here in The Sublet. The audio narration was great, I always enjoy listening to Karissa Vacker.

At around 50 pages, If you’re looking for a short and sweet thriller that you can easily squeeze in on a commute or lunch break, or just need a short palate cleanser between books, this short story would be perfect!

For such a short book, this one had me hooked from the start.
We follow Anne who is barely keeping it together as a ghostwriter. She just landed a big client and maybe her life is turning around.
For a short story to be good for me it needs to intrigue me and give me some tension. I feel like this book did that.
I enjoyed it and was pleasantly surprised how fast I got through it.

I normally don’t like short stories but wanted to give this one a try because I love Greer Hendricks so much. As per usual with me and short stories though, I didn’t really enjoy it. It was just a meh read for me but I’ll give it a three for being a quick and easy listen.

I loved this!! Such a perfect little taste of Greer Hendricks’ writing and a captivating psychological thriller. And Karissa Vacker was the perfect narrator!!!

I love Greer Hendricks and Karissa Vacker is probably my fav audio narrator.

This one had me interested from start to finish but I was left wanting more…which I guess is a good thing. Ahhhh novellas…

Easy listen, smooth writing, and I loved the narrator. It was entertaining, but the ending did not deliver in my opinion.

I am not a fan of short stories and this is exactly why – they’re too short to form a coherent story with developed characters and an interesting, cohesive plot. Anne’s actions and need to know made very little sense and the ending was confusing. The narrator did a great job with what they were given but this was not my favorite by this author.
