This book is almost a psychological study in what stress can do to a person. It’s quite an interesting and emotional book in that you could feel the pain and anxiety coming off of Coach Cass from the beginning of the book and then explode as Evie goes missing. She was fighting for her reputation , her job, her player.

It’s really good, and I couldn’t stop reading until I figured it what was happening!

The central mystery was really good in itself, and then add in all the extra aspects of the story and that just put things over the top. I was hooked as each new twist was revealed, and there were plenty to go around in this one!

I definitely did not guess where this one was going, and it was a great ending! Kudos to the author for a great couple of twists that really packed a great punch. I won’t give anything away, but it was really a great fit for the story.

I’m excited to see where this author takes us next!

Did You See Evie by Miranda Smith was an explosive psychological suspense story that was hard to put down. The story draws you in from the start with its high energy and maintains a steady stream throughout.

Cass is the head coach for a private school's girl's basketball team. When the team wins the championship, they decide to celebrate with a lock-in at the school's gymnasium. When Cass wakes up the next morning, she's shocked to see one of her charges is missing. Hiding secrets of her own from both her past and present, Cass realizes she must tread lightly. She, however, isn't the only one harboring secrets, so who has the bigger secret that needs to stay hidden.

Full of intrigue and suspense, this was a page turner. It deals with teenage friendships, teamwork, and also touches on the subject of bullying. The chapters are short and flow easily, and the characters were all hiding something making it difficult to guess where this was going. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy

Did You See Evie by Miranda Smith, Cassidy is a basketball coach at Manning Academy and it’s a far cry from her impoverished beginnings. Her team has won the season championship for the third time in a row and because of this they have a lock-in to celebrate their win. it is at the lock in that Cass can tell, not for the first time Evie wants to tell her something but they’re interrupted and she never gets the chance. Cass is close to all her players but Evie mostly reminds her of herself as a young player. So when she wakes up to find EV missing the coach is distraught. She already feels as if her placement at the school isn’t set in stone due to the fact she believes Coach Reynolds and some parents want her out and losing a student isn’t going to bode well with her naysayers. not to mention her old best friend Nadia has returned to their small town and Cass isn’t certain she can be trusted especially due to the fact the night Evie went missing Nadia wanted the coach to help with a nefarious activity. she’s also planning a wedding for the summer but with Evie missing the pressure is on and not every aspect of Cass’s life will survive the ordeal along with Cass herself. this was a pretty good thriller I found Cass to be very likable but Nadia not so much. There is a lot more to the story than what I put in my brief review and all those some of it was just so-so some of it was OMG good.#NetGalley,#BookOuchur, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #MirandaSmith, #DidYouSeeEvie,

A sleep over at the school for the girls basketball team turns into tragedy when star player Evie disappears. Coach Cass has a soft spot for Evie because she reminds her of her younger self. So when she wakes up to discover Evie missing she is devestated. I really liked all the characters and I suspected everyone at some point and I kept second guessing myself with every twist. The turns that the plot took were amazingly well written. I felt myself screaming in my head with frustration because I was desperate to try and solve the mystery but I hadn't worked it out until it was revealed. A page turning physcological thriller/mystery.

this book was brilliant. and i want to know of one person who didnt finish it loving it far more than they thought they would. thats not even to say i thought badly to start with, so it exceeding my predictions shows what a stellar book this was.
coach Cass has worked hard to get where she is. she really had worked her way up from a background that would usually see her where she is. and that is at an elite private school.
you would expect the usual characters of a private school and that there are here. apart from one who is an outsider herself. and thats Evie. she is on scholarship to the school and that makes the others a little unkind to her. or definitely make it known she isnt one of them. but she is the star player. and when the team have a big win they decide to have a sleepover in the gymnasium. Cassie does her usual checks and all is well. Evie did want to talk to her at one point but shes sure that can wait.
upon waking though Evie is missing. Cassie knows she must find her. but everyone seems to be hiding something and everyone is most certainly not what they seem.
the pace of this book was just right and the characters were all perfectly fleshed out. i felt all the characters had their place and they werent all good nor all bad. and i could see point of view from them all even if at points i didnt agree.

Thanks to @bookouture @netgalley and @mirandasmithwriter for this absolutely mind-numbing ARC.

I lovedddd EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND. Of this book.

I like how the story had not just the mystery but also more emotional depth to it and it also deals with a major problem our entire world's facing now.

Trusting the wrong person, using social media in the worst way possible, bullying. Everything.

I usually find the main character in thrillers or mysteries a little annoying but i loveddddd the main character, cass, in this book.

This was my first book by @mirandasmithwriter and i have already added her entire backlist in my tbr.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced story. After young member of the middle school basketball team seemingly disappears during a celebratory lock in at the prestigious school, startling secrets come to light as her frantic coach rushes to find her. The head coach, Cass, has made her way to her position from a rough background and like the other characters surrounding Evie's disappearance she has a lot to hide and even more to lose.
As the harrowing search continues, Cass learns startling truths about that people she holds closest to her and with each step closer to the truth will she pay the ultimate price for her devotion to her missing student.

A missing girl, troubled pasts and lots of drama unfolds in this story.

Evie goes missing from the team sleepover in the school gymnasium, which was meant to be a celebration for winning the basketball championship. Did she run away? Was she taken? What unfolds will completely surprise you! Everyone seems to have a secret 🤫

Very well written, a great plot and lots of twists and turns.

Evie's disappearance has sent shockwaves through the community, and Cass, the basketball team's enigmatic coach, is hell-bent on uncovering the truth. During a seemingly innocent lock-in sleepover at school, Evie vanished without a trace — her absence shrouded in mystery, entangling Cass into a web of suspicion. As Cass delves deeper into the investigation, dark secrets from her past resurface, raising haunting questions: Is Coach Cass somehow implicated in Evie's vanishing? From the very first page, this gripping tale ensnared my curiosity, leaving me desperate to unveil each shocking twist that awaited in the next chapter. The surprises were nothing short of jaw-dropping! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. This book rightfully deserves a dazzling 5 out of 5 stars!

Wow! Author Miranda Smith kept me on the edge of my seat! There were so many twists and turns, and all of them caught me by surprise! I thought once or twice that I might know how things were going to turn out but Did You See Evie? proved me wrong- in the best way- every single time.

I read a lot of novels in this genre but Smith’s newest thriller is exceptionally written! It's a 5/5 for me (and I have been accused of being stingy with handing out this score!). Please be warned that you will not be able to put this book down once you’ve started reading!

Did You See Evie? by Miranda Smith is a gripping mystery that delves into the complexities of adolescence, trust, and the uncertainty that can arise when someone disappears without a trace. Set against the backdrop of a victorious middle school basketball team, the book expertly balances sports, personal drama, and the unsettling tension of a missing person case.

The story begins on a high note, with Cass, the dedicated and passionate basketball coach, celebrating her team’s hard-won victory in a state championship. But the mood quickly shifts when the team gathers for a lock-in at the school to celebrate, and one of the players, Evie, mysteriously disappears. The joyful celebration turns into a frantic search, and as Cass and the rest of the team try to unravel what happened, the story takes the reader on a suspense-filled journey.

What makes Did You See Evie? stand out is its exploration of relationships and how secrets—both big and small—can change the course of events. Cass, as the coach, is at the center of the mystery, not only trying to understand what happened to Evie but also navigating the delicate dynamics of her players and their varying personalities. The book paints a vivid picture of middle school life, complete with the ups and downs of friendships, rivalries, and the sometimes complicated emotions of growing up.

Miranda Smith does an excellent job of creating an atmosphere of suspense, with every character under suspicion and multiple possible theories about Evie’s disappearance. The writing keeps you on edge, with small clues dropped along the way that make you rethink what you know, leaving you guessing until the very end. It’s a perfect example of a "whodunit" that keeps the reader hooked, especially as more secrets are revealed.

The pacing of the book is well-handled; there’s a nice balance between the mystery and the emotional development of the characters. It doesn’t rush to give answers but instead allows the tension to build slowly, which keeps you turning the pages. The themes of trust, guilt, and redemption also come through strongly, particularly as Cass grapples with the idea that one of her players may be involved in Evie's disappearance.

Overall, Did You See Evie? is an engaging mystery that is equal parts suspense and character study. Miranda Smith crafts a world where every player’s actions matter, and every secret holds the potential to unravel everything. For fans of middle-grade mysteries, this book is a must-read. It’s a quick, thrilling read that will leave you pondering long after the last page is turned.

Things I liked:

- The short chapters and fast paced writing style that kept me hooked.
- The backstory for Cass and her connection to Evie.
- Discussions on school neglect on bullying.
- Nadia and Cass and their dynamic
- the many different dynamics ( colleagues, Connor, Nadia) in Cass’s life.
- the twist on what happened to Evie was definitely not expected.
- The romance at the end.

Things I didn’t like:

- Wish the reveal was a bit more thrilling as it felt too coincidental and quick in the rescue,
- The storyline of Cass keeping the door open being forgotten a little.
- Kyle the teacher, I wish we got more with this storyline maybe one more scene with him and Cass.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and am very thankful to have read it.
