“Isolated deep in the forest, Lainey and David will need to tread very carefully with the other couple if they want to survive the weekend.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
It was supposed to be a nice family weekend. If only it had been.
When new parents Lainey and David arrive at their rental cabin late at night, they’re surprised to find another couple already there. Looks like they’ve been double-booked…right?
As the weekend progresses and the house's dark past comes to light, the pair begin to wonder if it was coincidence at all.
Another young family had lived there prior. They had a young son, too. All of them vanished.
JACK DANE! You got me again 🤣 I genuinely thought I knew how this book was going, but when I tell you my jaw dropped… I was so mad I didn’t figure it out myself!
This book is setting during a storm, and just gives you chills from start to finish. I read this in one sitting, it was that good! The chapters are short, which keep you saying “just one more” and there’s no fluff in there, you get straight to the point.
I can’t say too much as I don’t want to give it away, but just another fantastic book for this year!

I recently read The Other Couple by Jack Dane and this book had me hooked from page one. What starts as a seemingly innocent getaway for two couples quickly spirals into something darker. I was left guessing till the very end. There were twists and turns and left you questioning everything.I absolutely loved this twisty, fast-paced, kinda creepy thriller and I read it in one sitting!
A must-read for fans of psychological suspense with a chilling edge.
Thank you for the ARC

This book is a tense, fast-paced thriller. The story revolves around a couple setting out on vacation to a secluded cabin with their baby, only to discover they’ve been double-booked with another pair. What starts as an awkward situation quickly escalates into something far more sinister. This creepy twist sets the tone for an eerie, unpredictable adventure as the two couples are forced to navigate the uncomfortable situation that spirals into something even more unsettling. The suspense is expertly built, with just the right pacing to keep the tension high without feeling rushed. The other couple is disturbingly creepy, and their strange behavior adds to the growing sense of unease. The author does a great job of using the isolated setting to amplify the fear and uncertainty, making every moment feel charged with dread.
If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers that leave you second-guessing every character and action—full of twists and a haunting atmosphere—this is a must-read.

An enjoyable with a creepy premise that had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. A good amount of twists that kept me guessing until the end

Thank you to Jack Dane and Xpresso Book Tours for allowing me to read the ARC copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions within this review are my own.
The description of this book captured my interest and then when reading the book, I was completely gripped. The Other Couple is a psychological thriller about David and Lainey who go away for their first family weekend away, since becoming new parents. When they arrive late at night, during a storm, they're surprised to learn that the cabin they'll be staying in is double-booked. Due to the storm, they're then forced to stay the weekend with the other couple and begin to learn about the house's dark past. Another family lived in the house–also with a young son–where they disappeared. It's all feeling like a creepy coincidence.
All I kept thinking as I was reading The Other Couple was, never go to a remote cabin. Jack Dane does a great job of building suspense right until the final crescendo. I felt as if I was in the cabin with Lainey, David, Kyle and Heather and could feel the anxiety from Lainey and David, as well as Kyle and Heather's creepy behaviour.
The ending is a real twist and I wish there was more of it, to get more of a backstory on a couple of the characters which I felt was missing (can't say more without the risk of giving away spoilers). All that aside I think this is a worthy book to read and I'm glad I was able to receive a copy. Make sure you get your copy when the book comes out on 28th March 2025.

One family shacking up with a shady couple in a house with no power during a severe storm, cue creepy. There is nothing like a family get away gone wrong to put you on edge. This one had suspense and kept me guessing until the end. I had a few questions with the wrap up but overall a fast eerie read.

This book's pace was great, with just the right amount of twists to keep me engaged. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and this was my first read from this author, but I am very interested in more of their work.

If you’re into dark, twisted, psychological thrillers, then The Other Couple by Jack Dane should be next on your tbr! I could not put this one down!
A family weekend getaway goes wrong with a young couple with their baby when they find the secluded cabin they’ve booked is double-booked by another couple.
Being trapped there all weekend during a storm is just the beginning of this not so relaxing family weekend🌪️
Thank you @Netgalley and Back Alley Press for this opportunity!

Wow, what a great, quick read!!
What starts off as a seemingly innocent weekend family getaway turns into a nightmare. Bad weather, double bookings and a crazed couple with a gun are just the beginning of the hellacious weekend.
But is anyone really who they say they are?!
The twists are endless in the is book!!

I loved this book. It was very suspenseful and thrilling with twists and turns and I was holding onto my seat the whole time. I hated all of the characters but that is a good thing as you can't decide which ones to actually believe and which ones not to. The ending was great!

Calling all Frieda McFadden fans, you’ll love this story! Truly felt like I was watching a horror movie with its fast pace.
The other couple is about a couple going on vacation to a remote place, only to find they have been double booked and can’t leave due to a storm.
The characters Kyle and Heather really knew how to get under reader’s skin. Also the story is truly terrifying reading this as a parent.
The twists were surprising but I felt like there were major plot holes which made the ending not plausible.
The intentions of each character were a little murky. Why were Kyle and Heather staying there? Did David and Lainey know it was going to be double booked? So many questions.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

I was not expecting *that* (ending). This is a perfect weekend read, just not while you're on vaction during a storm. A plot twist I didn't expect.

I loved that the author set the scene and we were thrown into the chaos immediately. The buildup and twist at the end took me completely by surprise. I was thinking of a number of different endings while reading, but none of which were right. This is the kind of book you’ll want to reread after you know the ending just to figure out how you could have missed it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review. This book will be released March 28, 2005.
Back in February I read His First Wife by Jack Dane and I loved it and was HOOKED on the plot and writing style. So when I saw his new upcoming book, The Other Couple, I was very excited to read it. I loved this one and I will definitely be reading more of his books in the future.
WHEW, boy this one had me GRIPPED from start to finish!! I read it in one sitting! The tension and atmosphere in The Other Couple is extremely well done. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen. I really don’t want to give anything away about it. I absolutely loved this twisty, fast-paced, kinda creepy thriller! It’s a new favorite for me.
I definitely recommend this one to all thriller fans, it’s a quick thrill ride that doesn’t disappoint!!

Jack Dane is quickly climbing up the ladder of best psychological thriller authors! This book sucked me in from the very first page and I neverrr saw the plot twists coming! I really felt the tension and fear of the characters while reading. So well written and truly thrilling!!! Dane is officially an auto=buy author for me!

Lainey and David go on their first holiday with their adopted baby Jonah. When they arrive at the secluded cabin they're renting, they discover it's been double booked! Heather and Kyle have already settled into their holiday home, and make no sign of wanting to give it up. They eventually agree to share the cabin until the agency sorts out the booking. Together, they learn the previous couple staying in the cabin was murdered, and then they find a baby journal belonging to them which Kyle reacts to in a weird way. Heather becomes a bit too interested in helping with Jonah and Kyle's odd behaviour becomes worrying. Suddenly, Lainey starts noticing doors she knows she closed are now open, and as we read the entries in the baby journal, things start to unravel...
In my opinion this is one of those books that you think is going one way and keep thinking "surely it can't be that obvious?" and then it hits you!! The twist in this story is spectacular, diabolical, amazing!! I devoured it in one sitting, what an absolute page-turner.

This was a great read about a couple with a baby having to share a rental with a strange couple. Instantly I felt uneasy with the comments from the other couple, I felt there was a lot of suspense and a good few twists! It was a good quick read with a solid ending. If you like Kiersten Modglin, Daniel Hurst or Frieda McFadden you will love this authors writing style too.

My second book by this author, and it did not disappoint! Imagine getting to a rental cabin and someone is already there! And the other couple is very strange. This kept me on edge the whole time and I was astonished and the twist at the end!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc

This had me hooked from page one. What starts as a seemingly innocent getaway for two couples quickly spirals into something far darker. Secrets simmer beneath the surface, tensions build, and there’s this constant, creeping sense that something isn’t quite right. You can feel it lurking—just out of sight—and that eerie atmosphere never lets up. The twists are perfectly timed, the characters layered with just enough suspicion, and the dread? Unrelenting. It’s the kind of story that burrows under your skin and keeps you wide awake, questioning everything. A must-read for fans of psychological suspense with a chilling edge.

The Other Couple is a twisty, can’t put down Thriller that is about a couple trying to take a weekend getaway with their baby. They find that there is already a couple staying at the cabin.
This book kept me guessing until the end. It reads like a Frieda McFadden book. So fans of Frieda McFadden rejoice!
I loved it and will look into other works by this author.
