I have read a lot of thrillers in my time. It's one of my favourite genres, but even I have to admit that sometimes a lot of thrillers end up bleeding together. Things get repetitive; formulaic. But I can actually say that with The Euthanist by Alex Dolan, I have never read anything with a plot like this before.

This is one hell of a twisty book. It had me eagerly flipping its pages to find out which way it would twist and turn before reaching its final conclusion. And sure, the twists were fun, but what really held my attention from beginning to end was how fascinated I was in the main character, Kali. She was such an interesting character to read about and follow throughout the book because of how varied her personality was. She's strong but vulnerable, bold but leery, imperfect but a worthwhile character to be invested in. Her story arc is incredibly interesting and Dolan did a great job evolving her.

All in all, this was a pleasant surprise for me, a bit of a hidden gem, and I'd highly recommend it to other thriller lovers.
