A Captivating Medieval Romance
Elysande and Westley had one thing in common—they had no desire to marry. In fact, Elysande was so opposed to the idea that she attacked Westley with a sword when he arrived at her home. But as fate would have it, the childhood enemies soon realized they were no longer the same quarrelsome children. Love began to bloom between them, yet a ruthless adversary was determined to destroy their happiness. With treachery and deception at every turn, could Elysande and Westley find a way to defeat their enemy? It might take nothing short of a miracle.
This enthralling medieval romance is packed with nonstop action and adventure, keeping me hooked from start to finish. Fans of Christopher de Lohr and his dynasty will find this an especially emotional read—be sure to have a box (or two) of tissues nearby! I particularly loved how the author wrapped up the story, but to truly appreciate its brilliance, you’ll have to read it for yourself.

A Fitting Tribute

At first I was wondering why we got an epilogue for a prologue, but as the story went on I realized it's because this book rightly deserves two epilogues and the author was smart enough to separate them so as to give each their proper due.

We're here for the romance of Christopher's youngest son, who is forced quite against his will to make good on the betrothal contract his father negotiated some eighteen years earlier. Westley has nothing but unpleasant memories of his future bride, Elysande, who also refuses to honor the marriage contract for similar reasons. However, patriarch Christopher is not a man to be defied, so Westley and Elysande find themselves forced to find some common ground as they proceed with the unavoidable marriage.

As these two young people figure out how they're going to live with their circumstances, there are forces at work to tear them apart. Generational feuds, castle intrigue, betrayals, and heroic rescues are all in store as West and Elysande find their own sweet HEA.

The final epilogue was truly exquisite, showing the transcendent love of Christopher and his bride, Dustin, paying tribute to the family they raised and the dynasty that followed.

If you love cheeky banter, cringy love ballads, heartwarming family drama, and swashbuckling heroes, this is the book for you. I reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This last book in the Son's of De Lohr Dynasty series was an extremely emotional and beautifully written enemies to lovers historical romance. It has drama, action, war, an evil villain, an abduction, intrigue, and so many emotional and plot twits that are very heartfelt. I enjoyed how an explosive story of enemies who become lovers to a beautiful romance. The ending was thrilling and emotional. I highly recommend!

The last chapter of this saga gutted me. I cried for a long time and still four days after finishing this book it brings tears to my eyes. I tried to explain to some of my garment sewing students how beautiful the ending was, and I started crying. I don’t think I will ever forget the ending to this book and saga. To me this is the sign of a great book… being unforgettable.

Elysande is the rebellious tomboy main female character who doesn’t like Westley and refuses to marry him. She keeps the story lively and fun because you never know what she is up to.

The main male character is Westley the youngest de Lohr son, he is not ready to be married and definitely not to Elysande who he has some bad memories with from childhood. Honestly, he’s still a little boy at times though not by numeric age. He’s quite entertaining and watching his mind change about the marriage and Elysande was done with a believable transition.

Readers will find the de Lohr women and men to all be strong willed and fierce. Multiple family members are included in this storyline along with several bad guys including the very evil neighbor that causes havoc.

One of the things I love about this saga is how hard this family fights and loves. How supportive they are even when they are angry.

I give this 5 STARS.

Title: Lion of Thunder
Author: Kathryn Le Veque
My fellow readers I am so glad to have had the opportunity to read the final ending book of the Sons of de Lohr. I have nothing but praise for a book that involves so much compassion, love, romance, blood bonds and loyalty. Family is the driving force that is the light to the de Lohr Clan. My favorite character - actually two favorite characters are Christopher and Dustin. These two characters are so profound in the story. Christopher is more so than Dustin.
As Christian only duty was to search for a wife for his son tragic events seems to follow him. It’s at this point the story picks up with unexpected tragic events that pushes each character beyond their abilities. Abilities that they either feared or didn’t know they had. This story’s plot seemed so real that once you start read the book you almost feel like you are right there in that moment. That tells how brilliantly that this book was written.
The families story seemed to come alive through the descriptions, dialogue and actions from the characters. Westley and Ella are terrific. Two souls whose romance reads like puppy love. So sweet and cute. Their romance was a pure delight to read.
The writer has done an extraordinary job with a story that was exceptionally good. Again I say that I am so happy to have had the pleasure to read the final book in the series of the de Lohr Sons. I give this story two snaps and a golden twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

As a long-time Kathryn Le Veque fan, this book was bittersweet but what an enjoyable read! We have Westley, the last son of Dustin and Christopher de Lohr, forced to uphold his betrothal agreement. His intended bride, Elysande “Ella” du Nor isn’t happy about it either. They literally come to blows when they meet for the first time since childhood. There’s some struggles to the altar and an old villain resurfaces before their happily ever after can be found.

Conclusion: A great finish to a wonderful series. Another hit for Kathryn Le Veque fans.

Favorite scene: Westley singing his chicken and gravy love ballad to Ella.
Spice level: one bedroom scene.
Favorite quote: I will tell you here and now that I will never lie to you. This is dishonorable, and I am not a dishonorable man”. I love the integrity of the de Lohrs.

WARNING: You will cry, but it’s nice to be able to say goodbye to a beloved character. Have the tissues ready for the end.

Thank you Netgalley & Dragonblade Publishing for providing an ARC of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed it; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Against a backdrop of political maneuvering, Westley de Lohr finds himself forced into marriage with the one female who makes him squirm. Elysande du Nor made his life miserable as a lad, but to his surprise, he finds himself attracted to her as a woman. Wishing to appease his father, Westley makes the best of the situation but finds that Elysande has grown into a lovely woman who stirs his heart. Unfortunately, an enemy intervenes, and their marriage vows are hardly made when Wesley is abducted in revenge for an old unsettled score. Elysande is made of sterner stuff than most young women and she sets out to have Westely released, only to fall into the same trap from which he has just been sprung. Despite mayhem and violence, Westley and Elysande find their way back together, but not without the heart-wrenching loss to the de Lohr family. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Draglonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Too fast paced and a little confusing with so many character ( which I think was my fault for not reading th authors other books first in this series) I did enjoy venturing into this era in history and the action was very exciting but didn’t really connect with the characters. I will definitely read another one of this authors books however as I enjoyed the characterisation of both characters and the dialogue.

Another exceptional story from the Le Veque world.
Easily Captured from the beginning when the prologue is the epilogue.
The de Lohr family is present from the beginning when the brothers are wrestling Westley into an arranged marriage.
Westley has been aware of Elysande since they were young but they did not get along during their foster days.
Plenty of action and romance with their marriage.
Also some extreme sadness saying goodbye to the Defender of the Realm Christopher.
Christopher and Dustin have also had a storied romance and life.
Will be rereading this saga again.

Before you pick up this medieval romance, stock up on tissues. You will need lots. The prologue would not normally be as it is in this one, but because the epilogue is extra special our clever author needed to move it.
The childhood dislike our lead characters shared will bring the giggles. They actually learn to communicate quicker than most enemies to lovers. There is a lot of danger, but the biggest battle will be trying to read while you're crying. The de Lohr family have given me lots of exciting reading over the years and hopefully will continue to.
I read every book by this author that I can get my hands on without needing to read the back cover blurb, because I know I will never be disappointed.
I loved every page.

Family, Escapes, Vengeance, Finding Love:
First off, I have never read the ending of a story first but in this captivating story that is exactly what happens. It's truly brilliant and the end of the book has the most beautiful ending I have ever read. I tried hard not to cry but I certainly failed. I suggest a tissue box.
This is an explosive story of two enemies to lovers that take us into a charming romance of discovering just exactly what each person's fears and wants in their life as husband and wife.
Now their romance is underway, and a wedding takes place, it doesn't take long for all hell to break loose.
We follow them through an evil abduction, vengeance, jealousy, along with a crazed villain.
This fantastic family that we all know and love so well comes together in a most thrilling and emotional ending I think I have ever read.
Truly a brilliant heartwarming story not to miss. Sorry to see the series end.
💖Favorite Character: "Alend", the loyal knight 🗡🗡🗡
🏆Best Scene "Dustin" when she dressed down Christpher, Westly's father, Bravo📣

I wish I could have rated higher than a 5. I hate that this is the last book of this series. That being said, I loved everything about this story. As children, Elle and Westley fought but as adults things are changing with some unexpected major twists. Dustin and Elle find their HEA but there is danger and treachery along the way. Help comes from the most unexpected person, Alend and I kinda wish he had not lost his life. The story is full of action which started at the beginning and went throughout the entire story. Another thing I love is that the events are so descriptive that I could easily picture them as they occurred.
I absolutely fell in love with Dustin and the strength she has, neither her husband nor her children dare cross her especially when she has the last word. I love how the mighty son and daughter warriors fall in line when she speaks. A warning before you start to read Chapter 28, have plenty of tissues close by, because this chapter gives new meaning to words that will break your heart and at the same time feel such unexpected peace. I have never read an ending to a story that was anywhere near as emotional as this one. This is an excellent story that is worth reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and are voluntarily leaving a review.

Lion of Thunder by Kathryn le Veque is the story of Westley de Lohr, the youngest son of Christopher and Dustin. The time has come for him to marry. He has been betrothed for fifteen years and had really hoped they would forget all about it. He was currently arguing with his father, which didn’t happen very often. He tried to run, but his brothers had been summoned to stop him. The lady in question is Elysande du Nor, who was really not interested in the marriage either. Lots of things happened on the way to the altar, and after, but they did indeed marry, and neither was unhappy about it. Until the next day when Westley disappeared. By then the brothers had arrived at Massington Hall, and they took the situation in hand. It was a bumpy ride.

This was a heartbreaking book. I cried for the last 10% of it. You will find out why when you read it. The problems were all solved and the marriage was a happy one, at least until Ella was delivered of a fine son, named Arius Christopher, born on his grandfather’s birthday. She forgot about the pain quickly, as new mothers do. The characters are vintage le Veque, the plot is good. The book is a long one, but there is plenty to fill it. Christopher and Dustin are legends and this book is reflective of that and of the family they have created. Whenever I receive a le Veque novel I drop everything and read it. I have not been disappointed yet.

I was invited to read Lion of Thunder by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #KathrynLeVeque #LionOfThunder

At times it was difficult to keep track of all of the characters as they are called by their actual names and by nicknames. Even though the happily ever after was expected, having the main characters' future at the beginning of the book took away from the feeling of a fairytale ending.
