Fiction (Adult), General Fiction (Adult), Historical

Jeanne and her brother, Laurent, live on their deceased father’s estate. Their mother is still grieving and barely leaves her room. Relatives come for a visit and bring friends, Jerome and Nicole. Jerome is planning a world trip. Laurent wants to join him but that would leave Jeanne alone to care for the estate. Laurent tells her he is going on the trip. He originally planned to go to university and then travel. This opportunity was exactly what he was looking for. Now on her own, Jeanne realizes the estate is lacking the funds to keep it going. She approaches the bank, but they turn her down without someone else cosigning with her. They suggest she sell off some or all the estate. This estate has been in her father’s family for generations. A man with suspicious motives beings to visit then court her mother. In a whirlwind romance, they marry and move to another estate leaving Jeanne truly alone.

The book has a steady pace, the characters are developed, and it is written in third person point of view. If you like stories with romance, deceit, drama, and family dynamics, you may enjoy reading this book.

Thank you for the opportunity read and review this title! I didn't enjoy it as much as I"d hoped, and rather than post a negative review, I chose to not feature it on my blog. I look forward to seeing what new releases you have in store!
