Patrick Ford grew up wondering. When his father dies after being hit by a car, Patrick wanted to know what happens when someone dies. To find answers, he registers at Cardiff University in Anatomy with the goal of dissecting a dead body and hopefully finding answers, what he finds is not what he expected at all.

Belinda Bauer does a fabulous job with this story. The characterizations of Patrick (a young man with Aspergers), his mother and his dissection partners and mentor is wonderful. The story is told from two POVs. The first is Patrick, the second is a patient in a coma. His thoughts, what he can see and hear are shared. How these two seeming unconnected views connect was wonderful. This was a unique story and plot, at times humorous, at times sad. As we follow Patrick in his thought processes, we see someone who becomes obsessed and does not understand how is actions are perceived by others. Just when I thought the story was over, the murder solved, the story continues. There is one more thread that needs to be followed and tied up, which it is. All in all I found this a very well done story, with a mostly believable plot that kept me reading to the end. I recommend this story to those who enjoy a mystery with a bit of a different plot and storyline.
