This book had some really amazing themes, but there were other aspects that were just not for me. I think the writing about Gracie’s pregnancy loss, hysterectomy, and connection with other women who have miscarried or lost their pregnancies was incredibly beautiful. I think it will resonate with a lot of people dealing with fertility issues and make them feel really seen. I think that is an incredible gift.
However, other parts of the book were just hard for me to get over. There were three separate men who cheated on their partners and for me, that is just an irredeemable action, so I wasn’t interested or rooting for any of their relationships or connections. And the storyline involving Ed was hard for me to read. Without spoiling anything, Ed is accused of a crime and I wished that there was a discussion of how men are not falsely accused of this crime very often and how they are more likely to be victims of the crime instead of falsely accused. I just wasn’t sure why this was a part of his storyline and maybe fed into that discourse around the crime in a potentially negative way.
I enjoyed that the characters had shades of grey and that their storylines intertwined in a really interesting way.

Fantastic. After the first few chapters, I was a little unsure of where the story was going as there are a lot of connections between the core group of characters. But it all works out beautifully and, in a way, those connections are vital to the story. Gracie and her partner well and truly lose their way after Gracie's miscarriage. Both of them hurting and lashing out. Gracie ultimately draws strength from her loss through the help of some amazing friends, her wonderful sister, a change of direction in her career, and a Hollywood hottie! Once again the author has dealt with a very difficult subject with sensitivity and compassion. A wonderfully told story.

How to Fix a Broken Heart is a heartwarming and uplifting story of resilience, personal growth, and love after loss. Gracie Davies is a relatable protagonist who, after suffering betrayal and heartbreak, embarks on a journey of self-discovery with the help of her quirky support system. The characters are vibrant, and the blend of humor and emotion keeps the story engaging.
The romantic and personal twists add layers of charm, and Gracie's development as she rebuilds her life is both inspiring and realistic. While the pacing is a bit uneven at times, the journey of healing and finding new love ultimately feels satisfying. If you're looking for a story about overcoming life's hurdles with hope and humor, this one hits the mark.

Nicola May’s How to Fix a Broken Heart is an emotional roller coaster of a story. I could not put it down! It beautifully depicts how dealing with grief and healing is not linear. It felt realistic and watching the protagonist's journey throughout this book made me feel human and reminded me that healing and navigating your life after a loss has no set formula. I love that this book is not just one type of story, rather a story about grief, loss, friendship and healing all at once, because after all, that’s life! There is some difficult subject matter in this book, although, the difficult subject matter in this book is handled with the utmost care by the author and it shows. I felt like I grew along with our protagonist, having a new perspective and mindset on the challenges life throws at us. Thank you Nicola May, Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Nicola May’s How to Fix a Broken Heart is a tender, relatable story that gently reminds us healing from heartbreak isn’t linear—it’s messy, it’s emotional, but it’s also filled with moments of self-discovery and hope. The protagonist, who is navigating life after a painful breakup, feels like someone you’d want to sit down with for a cup of tea and a heart-to-heart. May’s writing is wonderfully warm and witty, balancing the rawness of heartbreak with uplifting humor that prevents the story from feeling heavy. As the protagonist begins to rebuild her life, she encounters unexpected friendships and opens herself up to new possibilities. These relationships feel genuine and help give her the strength to embrace the future.
One of the most poignant elements of the story is its honesty. May captures the little things—those fleeting moments of joy that show up uninvited, the doubts that creep in, and the milestones that remind us we’re stronger than we think. Her storytelling feels personal, as though she’s inviting readers to share in the ups and downs of recovery. Ultimately, this book reads like a celebration of resilience, finding joy again, and learning to love—not just someone new, but yourself. It’s one of those comforting reads that leaves you feeling lighter and hopeful by the end.

How to Fix a Broken Heart-Nicola May
This is a beautifully written story of love and loss. I will say there are trigger warnings needed here for pregnancy loss and r*pe so definitely proceed with caution if these are potential triggers for you.
These issues however, in my opinion, are well broached and are treated with sensitivity and care.
The story shows how the main character moves through grief and loss and overall has a very hopeful tone. I finished this book quickly. I found that all the characters are well developed and I can emphasise with all of their situations because of how well the author develops them and provides their perspectives throughout the book.
The story follows Gracies journey after the loss of her twins. This impacts her marriage and the book follows the effects of events on her and her husband Lewis. Will what happened spell the end of their marriage?
There are also lots of rich subplots with a variety of characters that intertwine seamlessly. A really well written book.

This book was heartbreaking. It is about loss, motherhood, miscarriage, and grief. The beginning of this book was hard for me to read, it does pick up and gets heartwarming. This author really knows how to write a book! I had felt many intense emotions while reading it. It is about love, healing, and friendship. It’s about moving on in life, even after traumatic situations happen. I really enjoyed the main female character of this story and felt everything she was feeling. Not all things in life are rainbows and sunshine and this book shows just that. However, we can move on and be happy again.
However To Fix a Broken Heart is about a woman named Gracie, who goes through the loss of her twins and betrayal from her Husband Lewis. She has to have a hysterectomy and is upset to know she will never have a baby. She ends up putting her life back together, after what all she went through. It’s not easy to do, but she does get it done. This is a must read for anyone that has gone through something similar or knows someone that has. It sheds light on a topic that I feel should be talked about more! I give this book a 5 out of 5 star rating!

Nicola May is a favorite author of mine. Her latest, How to Fix a Broken Heart is a winner. Pick this one up soon!

I was invited by the publisher to review this book. Gracie experiences trauma through a miscarriage and her partner cheating on her, and subsequently decides to re-frame her situation and start anew. She begins her own business, moves in with her sister, and meets some other love interests.
This is a very accessible book for those coming to terms from grief, and it touches upon motherhood and miscarriages which will be relatable to many. The author does an excellent job of navigating this topic and theme, but also encouraging a different way to look at things and a light at the end of the tunnel. I liked that in re-inventing Gracie and giving her confidence back, that new lease on life was not rooted in a new man and romance, but rather relationships and community, too.

"How to Fix a Broken Heart" by Nicola May has a solid premise, exploring themes of love, loss, and the process of moving on. The story itself is engaging; however, the writing style didn’t draw me in as much as I had hoped. While I usually enjoy fast-paced books, this one felt a bit too fast, making it difficult to fully connect with the characters and their experiences.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Nicola May for the ARC!

A deeply emotional and heartwarming story of love, loss, and healing, How to Fix a Broken Heart by Nicola May is a journey of self-discovery and recovery after life's most devastating moments.
Gracie Davies finds herself at rock bottom after suffering a terrible loss. Her world is further shaken when a colleague makes an offhand remark about her baby weight, and her boyfriend betrays her trust. Heartbroken and lost, Gracie must rebuild her life from the ground up. With the help of her free-spirited sister, an unconventional therapist, and a spirited new friend, Gracie begins to rediscover her sense of self.
As Gracie starts to regain her confidence, she finds herself swept up in a passionate fling with handsome landscaper Ed, a fairytale-like encounter with a Hollywood film star, and the persistence of her unfaithful ex. As life becomes increasingly unpredictable, Gracie learns that the support of her community, a sense of purpose, and perhaps even new love might be the best way to heal a broken heart.
However, as she moves forward, Gracie faces a deeper question—can a heart that has been so utterly shattered ever trust again?
What I loved about this book was the straightforwardness of the storyline. The imperfections of the characters added depth and complexity to the narrative. It was fascinating to see how cheating, the ultimate betrayal in Gracie's eyes, played out in different ways across the characters, from flirtation to kissing and even full-blown affairs. While this was thought-provoking, it also brought some sadness as it highlighted the messy, complicated nature of relationships.
The characters were well-linked and their connections felt natural, although the rapid development of Gracie’s feelings for both Ed and Leo felt a bit quick for my taste.
Overall, How to Fix a Broken Heart is a well-written, emotional read that will resonate with anyone who has experienced love, loss, and the difficult but necessary process of moving on. It’s a book about the power of healing, friendship, and ultimately, love.

This book tells a heartfelt story about loss, redemption, and finding forgiveness. Gracie’s journey is heart-wrenching yet inspiring as she navigates the pain of miscarrying her twin babies and the betrayal of her unfaithful boyfriend. With the support of her sister, she embarks on a path of healing and self-discovery, piecing her life back together.
The way the different narratives are woven together works nicely, and I loved how the characters are all connected in meaningful ways. There are definitely some sweet and tender moments, and a few steamy scenes that bring an extra spark. Overall, I enjoyed the book. It’s a good read with a satisfying ending. It didn’t completely blow me away, but I’m glad I picked it up.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing me with a free ARC of this book.
This was my second book from Nicola May. Like the first one, the story covered another delicate topic. I loved how straightforward the storyline went. The imperfections of each character gave me a lot of thought. Like Gracie said, cheating was the ultimate sin. But almost every character of the story committed it at different levels, from just flirting to kissing or to having sex. That made me sad somehow…
It was interesting how all the characters were linked to each other. I found that the way Ed and Leo felt for Gracie happened so fast though.
Overall, this was a well written book and I had a nice time reading it.

How To Fix a Broken Heart is a heart-warming story about a woman's search for healing and identity after a traumatic miscarriage. Gracie is heartbroken after losing twins halfway through her pregnancy, going through IVF, and discovering that her partner has been unfaithful. She is struggling with her grief and heartbreak, and this book tells the story of finding herself again.
Gracie has been through a terrible tragedy, and is heartbroken after a miscarriage results in an emergency hysterectomy, which feels like the death of her dreams of becoming a mother. She is struggling through her grief in every way, and then learns that her partner Lewis has cheated on her. She leaves him and sets off on a quest to change her life. She starts a new business, meets several new men, and moves in with her sister. I loved how she slowly rebuilt her self-esteem and committed to improving her life.
This book would be a great read for anyone who has lost a baby, or gone through the betrayal of infidelity. Or just gone through difficult things in life. (everyone!). The characters are going through major issues, but the author keeps the tone light overall. I wasn't crazy about any of Gracie's love interests, and would have liked to see her end up with someone truly selfless and devoted to her. I also found some of the side plots with minor characters distracting but not very engaging. The relationship between Gracie and her sister was wonderful, and it was so enjoyable to read about all of the positive changes and experiences Gracie had after going through such heartbreak and disappointment. Overall, this is a fun read about a woman putting her life back together (and having fun!) after a series of tragic events.

Nicola May has written another wonderful story about the most difficult experience
a woman can endure. And, typical of the Author, nothing is glossed over or minimized
and there is still an absolutely brilliant evolution from start to finish. Her character
development is strong and consistent. Her timing and sense of personal loss
and trek to healing is well done, allowing the reader to put the book down and
feel satisfied with the journey and the conclusion. I just love the evolutionary
stories.

Nicola May delivers a deeply emotional and uplifting novel with How to Fix a Broken Heart, a beautifully written story of love, loss, and self-discovery. Gracie Davies is at rock bottom—reeling from a heartbreaking loss, stung by a thoughtless comment about her weight, and blindsided by her boyfriend’s betrayal. With her world shattered, she is forced to rebuild from the ground up.
With the support of her free-spirited sister, an unconventional therapist, and a fierce new friend, Gracie embarks on a journey of healing and rediscovery. Along the way, she finds unexpected romance with a charming landscaper, a chance encounter with a Hollywood film star, and persistent attention from her regretful ex. As she navigates love, heartbreak, and self-worth, she realizes that community and purpose might be the key to mending even the most broken heart.
May’s writing is heartfelt and evocative, perfectly balancing humor with raw emotion. Gracie’s struggles are deeply relatable, making her journey all the more inspiring. The novel explores themes of grief, body image, friendship, and the courage to open one’s heart again. Readers will laugh, cry, and cheer as Gracie reclaims her happiness on her own terms.
With its engaging characters, witty dialogue, and an empowering message, How to Fix a Broken Heart is a must-read for fans of emotional, feel-good fiction. Nicola May once again proves why she is a master of contemporary women’s fiction.

This was a highly engaging read centred around Gracie who suffered a loss which devastated her and her grief caused cracks in her long term relationship leading to unexpected consequences and separation. Told from multiple points of view this features some wonderful characters, many of whom have unknown connections but tell about relationships from many different angles. This covers many topics but especially fertility from several different angles, all of which are compassionate and thoughtfully told. There’s a lot of positivity in this too, it’s a very uplifting read and with plenty of saucy moments too but mostly it’s about acceptance and moving on.

This book is heavy on the baby/pregnancy talk and there is a lot of talk around pregnancy loss so if those things trigger you, you might want to skip this book. Putting that aside, I think this is a well written, endearing story. I loved seeing Gracie's character progression and I was routing for her the whole time. She made some questionable choices with men, but in the end I am happy for her decision. You may want to bring a few tissues with you when reading this one because it is a tearjerker. Overall, fantastic read.
