It’s a very spicy polyamorous romance, featuring both binary and sapphic relationships—but at its heart, it’s also a story about *feminine rage* and an ambitious woman fighting to reclaim her power in a world where men injusticely pressure women.
There’s heat, there’s heart, and definitely a strong emotional core—but honestly, some character arcs felt a bit out of place. Like, they didn’t quite land or didn’t align smoothly with the main journey. It pulled me out of the story at times.
That said, the narrator absolutely delivers. Her voice carries the tension, the intimacy, and the rage with real nuance. So while the story didn’t fully hit the mark for me, the performance definitely elevated the experience.
The conclusion was heartbreaking and it felt raw, really raw. It made me interested in reading the other books in the series.

I got this as an audio arc on Netgalley and it has since come out. First, my compliments to the narrator. The dark voice fitted the fmc so well! This was such a good story. I am not familiar with the series but was told this was a good in as well and I can see that. I didn't need to know anyone really. The main character was the messiest queer I have experienced in a book and I loved her for that and her tenacity. The spice, the true depiction of being a queer woman men don't respect, it all was so good.

While I enjoyed this, I think it might have resonated more if I had read the other books in the series. With the ALC, I spent much of the book confused but willing to understand what I could. It was nicely written and I felt for the FMC and her plight.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreams cape Media for the ALC.

An entertaining romp seen through the eyes of a Sapphic actress who has to be on her toes to avoid the lustful groping of the Troupe’s director. Told in a time of castles and spoiled princes, it’s an expertly narrated tale of what a woman must do to stay true to herself and her desires.
My thanks to the author, publisher, @DreamscapeMedia, and #NetGalley for access to the audiobook of #ThePlayerandthePrince for review purposes. Published 20 March 2025.

I really enjoyed this one. Liv was such an interesting character that went for her own desires. With the pressure from men to sleep with them would come up and she had to defend herself I wanted to rush to her defense as well. I really want more and my only problem is that this feels like half a story instead of a completed novella.
Since I listened to the audiobook I will also say the narrator did a good job, but there was some sound issues and it sounded like a mic was being hit a couple of times. I'm not sure if this will be fixed or not.
