This was a very cute book about Kid the Goat. As the title says he doesn’t want to wear his coat that he got for Christmas. He sees his family and friends enjoying the day outside and decides to go outside without his coat. Ultimately his mom brings his coat and he realizes she’s right. I like the lesson of this book, listen to your mom because she’s probably right. My only complaint is that there is discussion of getting sick from being outside without a coat, this is not correct and I don’t like that this old wives tale is included. Overall though we enjoyed this book.

Kid the Goat Won't Wear His Christmas Coat was a whimsical, fun read that features a very stubborn goat that doesn't want to follow the advice of his parents. Children will stay engaged at the lively illustrations while also enjoying the rhyming storyline. I don't know that the moral of the story was quite as clear as intended, but still a cute holiday read!

The illustrations are adorable but the text isn't great. It's one of those books where you wish they hadn't thought it had to rhyme and had just told a story.
It's' also a Christian story, ending with the manger scene.
The goats are so cute and the ending will appeal to a lot of my patrons, so I will purchase for my library. Thank you for the ARC.

This is a cute rhyming story about a goat who doesn't like what he got for Christmas, so he refuses to participate with his family. He learns his "lesson" after he is left out of the fun.

Loved the illustrations and the point to the story I think came across quite well but the rhyming wasn't necessary nor the grammatical errors. I think I would still purchase this as a gift though

When Kid the goat gets a coat for Christmas, he pouts -- he doesn't want to wear a coat! But soon enough, he learns the valuable lesson that in order to experience all the fun of winter with friends and family outdoors, he has to be safe and warm.
This is an adorable book with illustrations that are fittingly charming, merry, and bright.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

As a mother of two, I found Kid the Goat Won’t Wear His Christmas Coat by Lana Stenner to be a charming story about a goat who’d rather play than do chores—or wear his Christmas coat! My 5-year-old had a blast picking up on the rhymes and guessing the next word, making it a perfect rhyming exercise for a kindergartener. Rhyming children’s books are always a hit in our house!
The story is relatable for every parent trying to get their little ones to bundle up for the winter, but I did find the plot to be a bit flat. As big Christmas fans, we love pulling out holiday books each year, but with so many fantastic options, this one didn’t quite make it to the top of our list. That said, the illustrations were delightful, and my kids especially enjoyed the goat family theme. It was a great read for my 8-year-old to share with my 5-year-old, though I’m not sure I’d recommend it to every family.
Thank you NetGalley and Tommy Nelson for this eARC!

The storytelling is engaging and age-appropriate, with just the right balance of excitement and heart. Young readers will love following along. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

This is a short book, all in rhyme, about a goat who doesn't want to wear a coat. He changes his mind, just in time, to celebrate with his family. It really is cold! Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

I think that this book has a clear message and is written well, but I would have liked to see a little more depth. What I mean by this: it seemed like Kid decided that the coat was important a little too fast. Seeing some more development or stretching the plot out a bit would allow his thought process to be richer and make for a more fulfilling story. Even adding just one or two more pages would help; it doesn't need to be a big edit. That aside, I liked this book! There was a clear plot and conflict, and I think that the moral of the story is important and often overlooked in the world of kids' books. Additionally, using the love and joy of the holiday season to demonstrate this moral was simple yet clever idea, and it worked well. Young readers will leave this book feeling cozy and happy, just as Kid feels by the end of the book.

This was such a fun little read! The illustrations are very beautiful and the story has a nice little moral for children who can be a bit stubborn like Kid the Goat. I look forward to purchasing this one when it comes out for my niece! I get her a Christmas book each year and this will definitely be this year's!

Thank you for the ARC. This was a cute Christmas story. My son and I loved the rhyming aspect and the illustrations were spot on.

First of all, how beautiful are the illustrations?! Gorgeous!! This was a cute book about being grateful for what you get and getting over your pride. I loved it and so did my 5 year old.
Thank you NetGalley, Tommy Nelson and Lana Stenner for the ARC. All opinions stated are my own.
