I tried to give the Gabby Torres series another chance but still not loving it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early copy in exchange for my honest review.

Gabby Torres is on her next adventure. She wants to bake. Read to find out what challenges she meets as she tries to gather ingredients.

Thank you @NetGalley and @MacmillanChildren'sPublishingGroup for the ARC. This was so cute and informative. Gabby Torres wants to win a baking contest to show that she is the best at something. Unfortunately things to do go as planned for Gabby. She is also learning how to save the river otters homes with her ocean club. Told with so much witt, you can only root for Gabby to win. A must for all Libraries.

Formatted as a mix of diary entries and comic panels, we follow ambitious-to-a-fault Gabby Torres as she explores her baking talents for a good cause. Kids will find her chaotic tendencies amusing and possibly inspiring, much to their parents' dismay, but her relentless pursuit of greatness is endearing. Its predictability was manageable, given the target age demographic, but it did feel quite repetitive after about halfway through.

It is more of a diary format book than a graphic novel but nevertheless incorporates comic style interactions. This is the second installment of Gabby series and this adds a spin to Gabby's love for cooking. She learns a very important lesson that - winning isn't everything. You can be happy when you are happy with [ you are. This is an interesting and easy to read book. This would be more relatable to young Middle schoolers.I still look forward to reading more in the installments, especially with brewing mystery.

My students LOVE GRAPHC NOVELS, so it was exciting to get this ARC from @netgalley and @macmillankidsuk ahead of the December 2nd release date.
I thought this was a very sweet story! Gabby Torres just wants to a champion, a winner, first in something, ANYTHING. She sets her sights on a baking competition, stresses herself and her parents out, learns the value of a dollar, and that winning isn’t everything!
I can see my third and fourth graders really enjoying this series, as they can’t get enough of The Cupcake Diaries. One plus of this series is that it’s written not just as a graphic novel. There are many pages with pictures and paragraphs, and I feel the mix is great for readers!

I love Gabby Torres. She is easily distracted and wildly overconfident. But even when she wants to succeed, she still supports her friends 100% and they do the same for her. Gabby wants to help otters, and there's funny discussion about the difference between sea and river otters. She decides she can help them by winning a baking contest, but she wins a grocery gift card she gives to her parents, before realizing she can sell her baked goods to raise money for the otters. A very cute and satisfying story.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

This is the second book about the often frenetic, perhaps overly self confident Gabby Torres. I wasn't a fan of the first book but wanted to give the second one a try, just in case my dislike of that one was a one off event. Unfortunately I found this one similarly boring. That being said, fans of the first Gabby Torres book will almost certainly love this one given the similarities in style, pacing, and humor.
