Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed books one and four of this series, but Becoming Rain was kind of dragging. 50+ pages in and I still didn't really care about our characters. They were kind of boring and their personalities were surface-level. I didn't understand how Luke could have a personality with everyone else except Rain. Why on earth did she have to try so hard with him?

As far as the plot, I didn't find it to be convincing enough to keep going. For one, I didn't understand how on earth Luke and Rain were going to move past the fact that she has been lying to him the entire time and is trying to take down his uncle. I'm not big on deceit. I also found the whole idea of an undercover agent falling for a target to be unlikely. One, because Rain is being so closely watched, and two, she's a female cop. She has to work so hard to prove herself "worthy" of the uniform every day and even mentions how she wants to be taken seriously, but then she's going to fall for her target just because he's good-looking? It would be one thing if they totally mistook Luke for being involved with his uncle's illegal ties and when he found out about them, wanted to help take him down, but he seems pretty complicit.

I also found the whole premise of why the FBI is even looking into this group to be pretty lacking. Of all the organized crime the FBI is willing to spend a ridiculous amount of resources and tax payer dollars to look into a crew who has only physically hurt one guy? I mean I kind of get, because even one life matters, but in the grand scheme of things this is what they waste their time tracking down? Maybe it's actually a lot worse than what I currently know since Rain hates the uncle A LOT, and I didn't get far enough into the book, but I feel like I would have gotten some hint by the time I decided to finally DNF this book.

Overall, I think I honestly grew out of this series. It all felt lack luster and a tad juvenile. I definitely won't be writing K.A. Tucker off, though. She has written some amazing books. I think this series just isn't the right fit for me.

This was archived before I was able to download, so I am unable to offer a review at this time. I love this series though and will pick this up when I can. KA Tucker is a fabulous writer and I know this one will be as great as everything else I have read from her.
