Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom, at least for a little while.
Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.
One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.
Absolutely loved Chloe and Blake's story. Definitely recommend.
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!
I am so sorry, but this book just wasn't for me. It had a great premise, but unfortunately, it fell just short for me. I was not able to finish the book. I am not using NetGalley’s DNF feature as it negatively affects reviewers.
Having tried repreatedly to read this book I have finally decided to not finish it. I could not make a connection with the story or characters.
Chloe is a senior in high school and has done her best to be invisible for the last 4 years. She doesn't want any relationships or to be connected to anyone so she just stays to herself and does what she has to do. Chloe has a plan for herself and intends to stick to it. Hit the road and don't let anyone stop her.
Blake is quiet the opposite of Chloe. He is what some call a jock at their school. He is a basketball star and is dating the head cheerleader at school. Even though things look good on the outside for some people, you never really know what is going on on the inside.
When Chloe and Blake meet one night, they have what some would call the perfect night together. Will they see each other after this one night though? Neither one of them knows. As time goes on, neither one of them can stop thinking about the other and things get interesting from there.
I enjoyed this story that ended up showing you that even though you have a plan and are determined to stick to it, things change and your plan is not always the best laid plan for your life. I thought Jay McLean did well with this one. I have to admit thought that Chloe did get on my nerves just a little though. All the supporting characters added just enough to make this an enjoyable read though!
I adore these types of books and this was fantastically written, well plotted and with great characters. Would highly recommend to others.
