Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this eARC.
4.5🌟 rounded up. This was a very beautiful depiction of the life of a pope I had only heard of in passing. The format is engaging with how it goes back and forth between his life before and after becoming pope.
My only slight issues were when the author talks about some of the moral issues within Catholicism and John Paul's views on them, the author seems to allow his own personal biases to come through slightly rather than sticking to the simple facts of what Catholicism teaches and what John Paul himself believed. Additionally, the discussion of his death and subsequent conspiracies was a little drawn out and sensationalised, although I can see how that would've been a bit hard to avoid given the nature of the topic.
Overall this was a lovely book about a remarkable Pope, I am glad to have been able to discover him.
