I have read a lot of this series and enjoyed all of them. For some reason this one was hard for me to get into. I had to revisit the original story of Jack and the beanstalk in my head to try and follow how what I was reading matched up with the fairy tale. It got better as the story went on, Jackie wears a lot of different hats, trying to keep a place to live and food on table for her and her mother. She dressed as a lad to work as a stablemate then helps her mother sew clothes which are sold. The Viscount, Lord Raise is a weak, evil, spoiled man whose mother really runs the family and everything to do with it. She is also a very nasty person, thinking only of her and Herc's son wants. She knows that he preys on the servant girls and any female he wants, she doesn’t care if they can be paid off. Now he wants Jackie too. His cousin, Mr. Allegro is Oscar’s secretary doing all the paperwork, plus being an assistant to the steward. He may be family but is treated worst then some of the servants. He is saving money so he can get his very ill grandmother away and they can start over. He is afraid she is dying, and he doesn’t trust the nurse the countess hired for her. When he catches Jackie stealing into the house, he vowed to help her. Now the plot thickens with tons of danger, intrigue, suspense and yup a budding love story too. This is a fast-moving story with many twists and turns and tons of evil characters. Grab a copy to see how Jackie and Pol work out, what happens to the evil ones and of course the grandmother too. I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

There is a lot of danger in this historical romance for both our main characters. Mostly from the same villain. Our heroine is living a very confusing lifestyle, doing various jobs in different disguises.
Our hero has been an unwanted, and overworked, poor relation most of his life. He will soon learn the truth.
A sweet romance with a fun element. Our characters are brave, intelligent and willing to work hard for those they love. The fairytale ending is very satisfying.
Great fun.

This tenth book in A Twist Upon a Regency Tale series is a very original, captivating, Regency historical romance that was inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk. It was full of drama, action, intrigue, secrets, hidden identities, attempted muder, kidnapping, mystery, murder, and lives altered for good and bad, with so much more emotional issues, and engaging plot twists thst were very exciting and entertaining. I really enjoyed all the good surprises and how lovely so many lives turned out happily in the end. I highly recommend reading!

As both a child and an adult, I have always loved fairytales. I was thrilled, therefore, when I first read about this series and I haven't been disappointed yet! This amazing author has taken classic tales and uniquely woven historical romance around them bringing them back to life in a truly amazing fashion. Jackie and Apollo have much to overcome if they are ever going to find their own hea. Added to their own adventure, two villains, a number of henchmen, death, deceit and greed form the plot for this outstanding story. Each story is an actual standalone with some endearing familiar characters from the other stories. Wonderfully written and fully entertaining

Jackie, a jack (tee-hee) of all trades, sews, works as a stableboy, and sometimes gambles to provide money for her and her mother. On top of that, she has to avoid the lecherous local viscount. Oscar, the viscount, and his mother are sneaky, greedy, evil liars who take advantage of their tenants. Apollo is a cousin, who is treated like a servant. When Jackie climbs into the window at the manor to take money, she meets Pol who immediately agrees to help her. Before long the lot of them are thrown off the estate. Secrets and schemes begin to unravel. With the help of the Duchess of Winshire and her large family, things and people fall into place. This is a creative retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk. The characters are quite entertaining. The villains are properly vile. Pol and Jackie are perfect for each other, bold and caring. The story is full of delightful references, a “swan” who lays gold coins, a poor cow who needs to be sold, and a handful of beans. There is also an interesting mystery, a good bit of danger, a slow-burn romance, and a happy ending.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

Although enjoyable, I found it rather difficult to relate to this novel and had to keep going back to the concept of a twist upon a fairy tale to keep me focused. Greed makes people mean and nasty, and when they seemingly get away with their evil deeds, they think they are invincible and can take whatever they like. Jackie and her mother are under threat by the Viscount and his mother, and Apollo is being used as a doormat. However, what is done in secret will be shouted from the rooftops, exposing Oscar and his mother. As secrets are revealed, not only is justice served, but loved ones are reunited and hearts are mended. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A wonderful fairytale themed romance with characters that shine and love becomes the victory. Jackie and Pol have great chemistry and I enjoyed their scenes together. A well deserved happily ever after.

Jackie’s busy life as a stableboy each morning and seamstress all afternoon & sometimes a card player on an evening is threatened when she catches the eye of the local Viscount. Oscar Riese wants her in his bed, and is prepared to ruin her mother to remove all her other choices. Apollo Allegro, a poor relation to the Rieses, has been Oscar’s steward, secretary, factotum and general dogsbody for more than half his lifetime. Pol works in the background, doing what he can for the locals, and for his frail and fading grandmother. Oscar’s threats to Jackie and her mother are the last straw that drives him into open rebellion. When Oscar cheats at cards, Jackie climbs into Riese Hall to steal the money her mother needs for the extortionate rent. Pol arranges their joint escape.
The tenth book in the series & another very well written romance with more than a bit on intrigue. I loved both Pol & Jackie, both had secrets in their pasts & these are gradually revealed. I loved the chemistry between them & their slow burn romance. The villains were horrid & deserved all they received. A bonus was Pol’s delightful grandmother & Jackie’s hardworking mother & the icing on the cake was the help they received from the Winshire’s. Fast paced with wonderful characters had me reading this book in a couple of sittings
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
