A lot of the Upper East Side (mommy) culture material rang hollow, and the author came across as disingenuous.
Hard to believe that she, as a Yalie and social researcher/anthropologist, didn't know from the things that *aren't* exclusive to the Up Right quadrant of Manhattan island.
She lost all credibility with me when iterating on the Birkin waiting list (I guess her native informant(s) didn't acquaint her with Michael Tonello or his memoir, "Bringing Home the Birkin").
What could have been a fascinating study of this "secret world-within-the-world" seemed to be phoned in — on a Vertu, perhaps.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the advanced reading copy.
