He’s her brother’s best friend and she’s hated him since she was seventeen. New Orleans-based Mari's a smart, no-nonsense corporate pilot who’s perfected the art of holding a grudge. Now, someone's out to kill her and the best person to keep her safe happens to be Colin, the ex-military guy on the receiving end of one of her longest grudges.
What comes next is a trope-tastic action adventure of a romantic suspense story that sees our couple from small airports to safe houses, BnBs, forests, waterfalls, and more as they fight off assailants.
Read this if you like
- an action adventure with a HEA
- waterfall shenanigans
- a heroine excelling in a male-dominated work environment (Did I mention that she’s a kick-a@@ pilot? You’ll find out why when you read it.)
- banter and smart dialogue
Tropes
- Brother's best friend
- Forced proximity
️- Enemies to lovers
- One of my favs: We could die so we might as well have sex today trope (aka the 'danger bang')
Release date: April 15, 2025
I loved Mari and Colin and could totally picture them together.
Despite it being a romantic suspense, there was an easy going lightness to the story and it was just the right amount of suspense for me. And with around 250 print pages of novel length , this was a quick, fast-paced read. I would have happily read another couple of chapters though with Mari and Colin exploring their chemistry together even further.
This was my first book from the Redemption Harbor Security series, which is the overall 6th book in the series. It can totally be read as a standalone. There's a full cast of friends, colleagues, and families that I'm sure were featured in previous books or will find their HEA in stories to come.
I'm grateful to have received a copy of this book ahead of publication date. Thank you to NetGalley and Katie Reus.
I’m now off to diving into the other books in the series.

What a wonderful book. Colin and Mari had known each other for years, but she was mad at him for something he didn't know about. When she finally told him, he apologized and they started fresh. They both were attracted to each other, but because of this misunderstanding she refused to let go, they didn't act on it. Both of them flew charter planes for a living. She had some longtime customers but was always willing to take a new one on. When a new customer made her suspicious, it became dangerous and someone was after her. They shot up her home when Colin was with her so they went on the run. It was quite a wild ride what they had to go through. Who the bad guy was was a complete surprise though to me. There was drama, romance, and lots of friends from other stories
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

Genre & Tropes : romance suspense x rivals to lovers x brother's best friend x pilot heroine
A sexy romance suspense that I enjoyed reading !
Unsurprisingly, this was a pleasant read for me ! Katie Reus is one of my favorite authors, and I'm never disappointed when I read her books !
And here, I was SUPER excited to get the volume with Mari, given the little glimpses in the previous book ! And the plot was super interesting (that twist at the end !)
I maybe liked the romance a little less because I had a little more trouble with Mari (OK, I'm fine with her resisting the relationship with Colin, but I found she went a little too far at times ...), but I loved Colin !
In short, a sexy suspense romance that I read with pleasure !
PS: I want the book with Bradford >< That revelation at the end !!

Hmmm, okay. I had high hopes for this novel because I liked Mari a lot in previous novels. I like her here too, and I like Colin, but there's not much story here. A questionable character introduced, followed by someone taking shots at Mari. We never really get incremental clues, just Mari and Colin running and not really having a very hard time of it. I could've used a lot more suspense.
Also, I never fully understood why Mari hated Colin. Yes, what he said a million years ago was down, but her total dislike didn't really track, especially since she's a "tell it like it is" person. I love that Colin always loved Mari, but more backstory would help as well.
So I have a dilemma. I really like Reus but didn't do backflips for this book. I hate to give a low rating though because it's not a bad book... just a kind of dull one. It's a little generous, but I guess I'll round it up to 3 stars.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion
Thanks!

I enjoyed reading, Fighting for Mari. It had some suspense but I thought that the book focused on the relationship building between them and their lives. I especially liked that. Colin and Mari have a past so there was no awkward getting to know you time.

A crazy chase through the jungle, a steaming hot interlude among the waterfalls, dodging bullets & hit men are some of the excitement you get with Mari & Colin. You have to laugh at the banter & antics this team of friends & more get up to. Their loyalty & bond so strong as Mari & Colin face danger. Messy emotions that always trip up couples & a fabulous HEA. Exciting, thrilling & Fantastic!

Enemies to Lovers
An exciting read as Colin and Mari put their differences aside as they race for their lives and fall in love.
With a few twists and danger along the way and some much loved characters from previous books in the series having a part in their story, this is another great addition to the series!
A recommended fast paced action packed read which will have you hooked from page one and the ending wow, super romantic!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Never say something about someone that isn’t true. A hard lesson for Colin once he finally figured out why Mari avoided him.
Having a killer on their back gives him the opportunity to spend time with Mari and maybe get on her good side.
A lot of things come out in this story, not only about them but other teammates. I love the camaraderie of this team and the people around it. Amazing series and more to come.

Mari Kim and Colin Lockhart have known each other for years. Colin is Mari’s brother’s best friend. Mari had a crush on him until she heard him talking bad about her. Ever since she has despised him. Now they are all grown up and both are airplane pilots. When Colin steals one of her customers she buys a piece of land right out from under him. When Colin goes to confront Mari, he saves her from being killed. They take off in a plane and it’s been sabotaged and they crash land. They are running for their lives because someone has sent assassins after them. Colin refuses to let her out of his sight. They’ve got to figure out why someone wants her dead and work together to stay alive.

* VOLUNTARILY READ AND REVIEWED FOR NETGALLEY *

Mari has become a target and she doesn’t know why. There is plenty of suspense in this book along with a romance. There is a good cast of likable characters and a good plot. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more books with these characters. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

This one is a winner!!!! The characters are fantastic and seem to come alive on the page.
Mari, a friend of RHS, loves being a private pilot. She's happiest when flying and loves being able to pick and choose her clients. That is called into question when one of her favorite clients refers someone new to her. The new guy makes her uncomfortable, but she's not sure why.
Colin is with her on a flight when they have a rough landing. When they realize the plane was sabotaged, they are miles from civilization....yet they still find themselves fighting for their lives, while having absolutely no idea why.
This is a fast paced novel that fans of the genre will love. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
