Party of Liars by Kelsey Cox is such a fun, creepy read. I loved the multiple POVs, and the way the house was described—like a dollhouse—made it even spookier. Big thanks to Minotaur Books for the ARC!

Oh my goodness…I loved this book. It was one of those reads that keeps you on the edge of your seating waiting to see what happens. Plus, a few twists and turns kept me on my toes! It was perfectly plotted and paced. I was pleased by how it ended and thought the characters were brilliantly fleshed out! A must read for thriller lovers!!!

4 stars rounded slightly up.
This wasn’t quite what I anticipated, but I did enjoy it. It has a bit of a chaotic feel at the start, and I think it jumps from before and after too soon in the book, when the characters aren’t established yet, but there are only a few main characters, and the rest don’t really need to be told apart. Also, that audiobook narration is done very well, and helps keep storylines straight. Giving the main characters all differing accents was a great add to keep a large cast clearly divided.
There were a few key points that I felt came from nowhere and weren’t realistic as plot twists, but it was still a fun read. This is 100% one where I’d say go audiobook or not at all, and enjoy the story without thinking too hard about the logistics or facts. It’s a popcorn thriller for sure.

I liked the different POV's in this one! Plus, the dual timeline. We get what leads up to the party and how the party plays out. All the different twists and secrets kept me reading until the very end. I was SHOCKED by the major twist at the ending! I did not predict that one!

It was so refreshing to listen to this audiobook!! I really liked the narrators and will look for them in the future.
The storyline kept me going and wanting to listen… it gripped me till the very end. The ending wasn’t what I expected at all.

Releases July 1st!
Everything is bigger in Texas! Especially lavish Sweet 16 parties. Lies✅ Drama✅ Murder✅
3.5 rounded up! This was a tad hard to get into but worth the “slow burn”. The multiple POVs kept the plot moving nicely. The twists at the end? Wild. I don’t love a book that doesn’t tell me who dies until the end but this was an exception.
Thank you Macmillan audio for an ARC!

“They say everything’s bigger in Texas. If this party is anything to go by, that’s the God’s honest.” This Texas-based locked-room whodunnit hooked me. Rich people misbehaving is always a good read, especially when combined with toxic relationships, drunk exes, and a suspicious nanny. So many liars and intense drama with a dash of jealousy make this mystery an enticing and highly entertaining story. The narrators masterfully bring the characters to life while adding intrigue and emotion. There were times I thought I knew where the plot was going, but I was pleasantly surprised. The final twist I never saw coming! Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my audiobook.

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC.

An entertaining popcorn thriller with excellent full cast narration. Party of Liars is about a lavish Sweet Sixteen party that ends in murder.
My absolute favorite type of thriller is rich people behaving badly. Throw in full cast narration and I’m sat. I couldn’t put this book down.

Party of Liars is a great look at the intricate lives of one family. Kelsey does a great jobs of showing POV's from various characters across all age and wealth demographic to really look at this group of people.
I love a story like this, where the present is happening in one place over a night or day, the birthday party. Then the rest of the story is a look at each character involved over the years/weeks/months leading up to. This gives the reader a really good look at the relationships between characters and helps a mystery build.
I enjoyed this story and the vast characters introduced.

MY JAW IS ON THE FLOOR!!!! THAT WAS FREAKING SPECTACULAR!!!!! 🤩 The BEST thriller I’ve read since None of This is True. If you love Liane Moriarty, Gillian Flynn, Lisa Jewel, Lucy Foley you will LOVE Kelsey Cox!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!!
I just devoured this book!!!! The characters are fantastic the story was gripping the ending gave me literal chills!!! Just absolutely one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read!!!
Bonus: The audiobook is so great!! All the narrators do such an amazing job!!

Wow - what an amazing debut novel! This book reminded me a lot of “Big Little Liars” (which I loved) and the author did not disappoint!
There are four narrators in the novel - the new young wife and new mom,
Dani, the ex-wife, the Nanny and the celebrant’s best friend. The way the story weaves these four POVs together is done really well and adds to the storyline and keeps it moving along quite nicely. At first you want to hate all of these characters for their various flaws but the novel is so well written that you end up growing to really care for them as the story goes on.
I listened to the audiobook and I liked the different narrators and all five did a great job and added to the characters. I enjoyed the setting and the description of the creepy, old, potentially haunted house.
The ending tied everything together and did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!
Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and the author for the ARC of this audiobook. I was sad when it was done because I enjoyed listening to it so much.

In appreciation for the complimentary audiobook of “Party of Liars” through NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, I extend my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to provide an honest review.
On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, Sophie’s father and stepmother orchestrate an opulent soirée at their Texas mansion, shrouded in the enigmatic lore of a haunted property. The gathering boasts an ensemble of characters each harboring their own clandestine secrets, ensuring that this soirée will be etched indelibly in the collective memory, particularly when a tragic loss unfolds.
Despite my earnest desire to thoroughly enjoy this audiobook, I found myself grappling with certain shortcomings. The exceptional voice acting and the unexpected twist at the conclusion left a lasting impression. However, the abundance of characters and their intricate misdirections resulted in a protracted narrative. At the 72% mark, I was on the edge of my seat, still waiting for something exciting to happen. But then, the story took a wild turn and things got really fast-paced!
In my humble opinion, the book could have been a lot more engaging if it had a shorter story and fewer characters. That way, the pacing would have been much better and the book would have been easier to read.

PARTY OF LIARS, in a few words, is a story about a 16th birthday girl party that goes wrong and someone ends up dead by the end of the party.
We start the book knowing that someone was murdered but we don't know whose body is and who done it. We follow multiple POVs and a mixed timeline that jumps from a few days before the party to the actual night of the party.
It's a cast full of unlikable characters (not in the 'bad' way, I'd say) and the author takes their time trying to give each character a different personality and development required, but Kalsey Cox do not succeed all the time, in my opinion.
This is a very slow-paced story. The day of the party actually seems to last 36 hours, due to so much happening, so many dialogues and we, the readers, go back and forth over and over again. It's an endless night, really. And, in my opinion, it doesn't pay off when we know what was going on and what lead to the crime, or who actually dies - which can be very predictable for mostly experienced mystery readers.
I appreciate, honestly, what the author was trying to achieve here - especially by throwing at us the lore that the mansion (where the murder/party takes place) is haunted. But in the end...everything's full of clichés and predictable and sooooo slow.
Usually I don't mind slow pacing books. Unless I relate and care for the characters, which did not happen here. Luckily, I love multiple POVs in mystery/thrillers stories, so I wasn't bored all the time.
I'd probably recommend this book to readers who are less experienced in reading mystery novels. They might benefit from this one. And to readers who absolutely do not mind a very slow pacing murder mystery story.
I listened to the audiobook and it is well done, with a cast of narrators each doing a different character's POV, which makes the audio experience less dull and more dynamic. I personally don't like one of the narrators, but that's a personal issue of mine. There is nothing wrong with the audio production.
Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, for allowing me to listen to a free audio copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

Party of Liars takes readers on a roller coaster of unexpected twists and red herrings. You think you have the crime solved, but then it is revealed that it isn’t who you suspected. Characters who seemed sus turn out to be heroes, and the angelic characters are revealed to have horns in place of a halo. The alternating POV’s of the main cast give you insight into their lives, but remember: Innocent until proven guilty.
Betrayal, lies, and more await you at the party. So are you RSVP’ing?

⭐ Rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars
This book delivered everything I want in a contemporary thriller—plot twists, multiple POVs, layered character dynamics, and just the right amount of suspense. At first, I was a little overwhelmed by the number of characters, but once the story unfolds, it’s clear why they’re all essential. Kelsey Cox does a great job of pulling you into each perspective while keeping you guessing until the very end. Once the pieces start clicking, you won't want to stop listening.
The story follows four key women in Sophie Matthews’ life on the day of her sweet sixteen—a party meant to impress, thrown at her dad and stepmom’s lavishly renovated cliffside mansion (a house with a reputation and a few lingering whispers about its past). The perspectives come from:
* Mikayla, Sophie’s best friend, who’s not as popular or confident, but fiercely loyal
* Kim, her mother, a local pariah still navigating her reputation post-divorce
* Dani, her young stepmother and influencer-turned-new mom, trying to balance it all
* Orlaith, the mysterious Irish nanny hired to help Dani, who may not be who she seems
Sophie wants one thing—a night to remember, where everything goes perfectly. But as the party gets into full swing, a body falls from the balcony, and the illusion of perfection shatters. What led up to that moment, and what secrets were hiding beneath the surface?
The pacing is sharp, the flashbacks are well-placed, and the character dynamics kept me hooked from beginning to end. The mansion itself becomes a symbol of privilege, secrets, and the illusion of control—all of which unravel beautifully as the truth unfolds.
A gripping, well-executed thriller that kept me on edge and entertained throughout.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance audiobook copy in exchange for my honest review.

hanks to NetGalley for an ALC of this book. The premise sounded really interesting, and it really was. I didn’t quite know what was going to happen and thought I’d figured some things out that were wrong. I didn’t love the big ~*twist*~ at the end, but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

I am sorry to write this review as I did not care much for the plot or the characters and the pacing was really slow. I really wanted to like this more, but this really felt like the same story as Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty and I had a hard time moving past that. I thought the audible recording was well done with the material given. I received both the audio and ebook as an advanced copies prior to release date later this year. Thank you to Macmillan Audio, St. Martin's Press | Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the advanced copies.

While this book wasn’t exactly what I was expecting the title is completely accurate. All of the characters the reader gets to know are liars and most of them are pretty horrible honestly. It was hard to have anyone to root for and the few I tried to root for pretty much made me regret it at one point or another. The book centers around Sophie’s big 16th birthday party and the reader gets to see the event through a lot of perspectives including her best friend, her mother, her stepmother, and the nanny. They live in a giant house on a cliff with glass walls that the whole town knows is haunted. I listened to the audiobook for most of this one and I liked it, I thought the different voices were narrated well. Overall I think this was a strong debut even if it was more drama than the thriller I was expecting. I thought that most of the twists were easily seen coming, but there were a couple of small things that surprised me. I would definitely read more by this author.

Really thrilling and well-narrated book that takes place over one night at a Sweet Sixteen party. Both adults and kids at the party have drama and secrets aplenty. We have Sophie, the birthday girl; her mother Kim, an alcoholic and persona non grata at the party; Dani, the new stepmother; and the mysterious and somewhat strange nanny. But none of the characters are who or what they seem. And the villains are probably not who you think they are at all.
I really enjoyed the audiobook narration by a talented cast, whose voices gave more intrigue and drama to the characters. I also love that the suspects shifted all throughout the book until the very rewarding and creepy conclusion. I would never have guessed the ending and it was far creepier than anything I suspected.
After this read, I am definitely interested to read (or listen) to more by Kelsey Cox! 4.5 stars.

"Party of Liars" is a domestic thriller full of drama, secrets, and lies. I had so much fun reading this book. It reminded me of "Big Little Lies," where you know someone has died, but you're not sure who. I loved the guessing game, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is told through alternating timelines and perspectives. I'm a huge fan of this format, because I never knew who to trust or believe. There were a lot of characters, but I didn't find it confusing, and I thought they were all well-developed. Having the different POVs built a lot of tension and suspense. I had so many theories about what was going to happen. I guessed some things correctly, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. Such a great debut from Kelsey Cox!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Dan Bittner, Kate Handford, Pearl Hewitt, Saskia Maarleveld, and Suzy Jackson. I loved the full-cast narration, and I thought they all did a great job bringing their respective characters to life. I was so captivated by the story and stayed up way too late listening. Highly recommend!
