'World War I Quilts' by Sue Reich is a look at quiltmaking around the turn of the last century.

The book has four sections. In the first one, it's just a general look at quilting in the 1910s. The next section is quilts made for soldiers by groups as part of quilt drives. As the war ramped up, the Red Cross raised war money and the next section has all the quilts that were made for fund-raising, many of them with big red crosses on them. The final section was my favorite and featured poppy quilts to remember those who fought.

The book has tons of photos of quilts and lots of reprints of newspaper articles of the time. This gives a pretty good flavor for the era, but I would have liked more complete discussion of things. Still it's rally interesting to see these quilts and the articles are a memory of bygone days.
